This document provides observations and analyses of several stores and businesses in the city. It summarizes the key strengths and weaknesses of each as follows:
1) Haroon's Gift Shop spends a lot on their displays and decor and changes it according to occasions, providing creative merchandising. However, the attendants could be more helpful.
2) Metro mart is huge with adequate parking and security, and brands compete for space. However, some brands may be missing if their bids are too low.
3) Rahmat Bakers has great quality and prices with quick service and delivery. But it can get busy and rude staff.
4) Cooco's Den has good traditional cuisine but lacks an

2. Haroon’s - A Leading Gift

Outlook and decor does

3. ‘GIFT’ is a wide product
category and this store
knows it.
Just have a look, they
have so much stuff and
so many gift ideas.
As a whole, the products are quite
unrelated, but the merchandising is pretty
good, thus providing the consumer with
maximum convenience.
4. Ok, weak point; the attendants are not very
helpful and they’re not fully aware either.
Seems like their prime purpose is to keep a
watch for shop lifters.
Another weak point; although everything is
pretty and presentable, they could really
consider improving the quality.
Again, effective merchandising; the upper story
has bigger items, clocks, rugs, lamps, etc.
5. METRO – The Biggest Mart of the City
Its huge, it has an adequate parking space, it
has reasonable security measures and its the
pioneer in big box-stores in the city

7. What’s Bad? Since it is a mega-mart, yet the space is
limited, and brands fight for the best and the maximum
space available.
As a result, some brands don’t make it to the
shelves, probably as a result of their bid not being good
enough, despite having a demand at consumer level.
Alternatives are not always as good as the preferred
brand, and this shadows the idea of customer-convenience
at mega-marts, as they’d have to go an extra mile to get the
preferred products.
Bundle offer, although great should be coupled with the
option of buying single units to fit the needs of individuals.
9. The quality is great and the prices
reasonable. The service is quick
and they have the capacity to
deliver on large scale.

10. What can they improve on? Since they’re really
famous, it is really busy inside, and due to the

11. COOCO’S DEN – A Traditional Cuisine
So this place does not stand out as far as the
façade is concerned. Although, good
restaurants usually expand on word-of-mouth
basis, the outlook is nonetheless important.
Also, if you miss that tiny board, you won’t be
able to locate this restaurant.
12. The paintings are made by the owner, who is a
renowned artist. Most of these works are his portrayal
of something that has moved him a lot – prostitution.
Everything about this place is traditional and artistic –
from where it’s located to the architecture and probably
this building, which date back to the Mughal era.
One observation though, is that the
new furniture is in sharp contrast
with the old traditional one. See the
chairs, not that classy.
13. The roof is a splendid place to be
at, especially at night with a view of
‘Badshahi Mosque’ at the back. But the
seating is not impressive at all. The tables
are really old fashioned with marble on
top, and the wrought-iron chairs! Not a very
comfortable seating arrangement I’d say. It is
almost a turn-off to note that all this roof-top
is counting on is food, which is good, and
that enchanting view.
15. This is a place where shoes of many known brands
can be found. The layout is brand-wise; every brand
has a corner or a shelf, branded with the logo and
displaying it’s products and accessories.
Handbags are a new
addition to their offerings
now. Women can go crazy

16. Although its a good place, but the staff is
slow. They’ll take time to respond.
Some corners are much better lit and the
layout is far more eye catchy than that of
others. Just see the contrast between this
image and the last one.
17. FAZAL SWEETS & BAKERS – A Traditional Sweet House
It can be categorized as a convenience-sweet-
shop and bakery. It doesn’t attract anyone
who wants to window shop, just the people
who have a real purchase to make. Thus, not
a very impressive outlook.
Nonetheless, they’re an old foundation and are
famous for quality traditional sweets called
‘Mithai’.
18. This ‘Mithai’ is sold per Kilogram. Would’ve
helped if there were price tags.
Good thing is, it seems like they haven’t
missed out on any variety. Everything in
traditional south-asian ‘Mithai’ is on the
shelf.
19. There is a huge margin to improve for
them. They have not diversified into other
baking, which their competitors have. You
will not fancy cakes and cookies at this
store. Although, they are pretty good at
what they’re known for, still, they could
always do better.
Also, the layout is pretty boring. Doesn’t
really do an effort to keep you in the shop.
