The CMO Survey - Highlights and Insights Report - Spring 2024
Insights and hidden opportunities
1. Doing the task 2, I had a chance to make observations at my own office, my
friend’s café and some small shops.
I should never have thought that small details in a store’s design give much bigger
impression when combined in a certain way.
For instance, when creating a café’s interior the abstract pictures you put on a
wall have something in common (meaning colour) with the opposite wall.
Or that small details like wine glasses used at the counter add so much comfort to
the environment.
In case of café, music and smell have a lot to do with the atmosphere in general –
which you hardly notice in any other places.
2. I also got a bit surprised when trying to make logical links between the customers
and the shop. The more creativity an owner uses while designing, the more things
aimed at certain people, not the majority, it sells – the bigger is the chance to
meet customers who look unusual from the common point of view.
Therefore, there’s lots of food for thought – any small detail in the world around
can add to your idea the tiny piece it missed. At the same time, we often don’t
find the missing part if we are looking for it deliberately!
So – be open-minded and ready to take notice!
