INTRODUCTION AND WELCOME
MU Experiential Learning Office
Dr Aisling Flynn
Experiential Learning Office Lead
Since its inception in 2016, the Maynooth
University Experiential Learning Office (ELO) aims
to enrich the education experience, by facilitating
MU students directly or indirectly to experience
more from their degree programme by
developing, enabling and cultivating high-impact
learning experiences, both inside and outside the
classroom, where students learn by doing and
reflecting. The ELO has a key role in the
cultivation, expansion and promotion of
experiential learning, presenting a portfolio of
opportunities that develop MU student’s skills and
competencies for work, life and engaged
citizenship (MU Strategic Plan 18-22).
Whilst this has been an incredibly challenging year
for the Experiential Learning Team, it has been a
year of firsts where resilience, collaboration and
innovation culminated in the introduction of four
new programmes, a new Careers and
Employability portal, the exponential growth of
student and stakeholder engagement, as well as
the successful delivery of multiple inaugural virtual
events ranging from an Undergraduate Research
Symposium to a Project Live Expo. A sincere thank
you to our student, academic, community and
industry partners who enabled our success.
Together we are empowering MU students to
become Future Ready.
–Lewis and Williams

attitudes, or new ways of
thinking”.

work, life and engaged citizenship through informed career insights and empowering students to
achieve their career aims. It also sought to advance the networking propensity of Maynooth
University students from underrepresented groups (Access Students).
Due to its success, this programme will continue to be developed and be offered to all penultimate

INTRODUCTION AND WELCOME MU Experiential Learning Office Dr Aisling Flynn Experiential Learning Office Lead Since its inception in 2016, the Maynooth University Experiential Learning Office (ELO) aims to enrich the education experience, by facilitating MU students directly or indirectly to experience more from their degree programme by developing, enabling and cultivating high-impact learning experiences, both inside and outside the classroom, where students learn by doing and reflecting. The ELO has a key role in the cultivation, expansion and promotion of experiential learning, presenting a portfolio of opportunities that develop MU student’s skills and competencies for work, life and engaged citizenship (MU Strategic Plan 18-22). A sincere thank you to our student, academic, community and industry partners who enabled our success.
