The mobile market has grown significantly over the past few decades and is projected to continue growing for at least the next 20 years. By 2005, there were 215 million mobile subscribers in Asia, 45 million in Europe, and 123 million in the United States, compared to just 12,000 subscribers globally in 1990. As mobile infrastructure improved in countries like the United States, providers were able to invest in new markets and further drive growth internationally.
