The visit in Britain was useful for me, because I have begun to think what should be improved in our primary health system. Not
considering there is deficit of family doctors and consequently time, I would say it is not medical knowledge, we should miss. It is the
relation to ourselves, we estimate ourselves in negative way too often, we rarely see ourselves in a positive way, which is needed to be a
good doctor willing to help people. I have found the importance of communication skills which are urgent in relation doctor - patient.
I would recommend the exchange to all Slovenian GP trainee and their teachers as well.

To sum up, this has been a very useful experience that has helped me to compare the differences between the two Health Systems, and I
have learnt other ways of working that sometimes are better than ours and other times they are not. And also it has made me realise the
importance of speaking a language fluently so that patients can understand. I hope that this experience will be useful when I will be a GP,
and I am absolutely sure that it will be.

My first impression when I arrive there a Monday morning was the informatics and appointment system. Every morning for 1 hour they
attend telephone consultations which last up to 2 minutes, if that takes long they arrange an appointment considering it is not something
they can solve in a short consultation. I found not only very good professionals but also fantastic people who welcome me from the first
day, who gave me a motivation shot and took time to explain me everything and do their job. The most important message I got from all
that I have seen there is that we can be more family doctors than what we are now and I will try it. Thank you very much. Undoubtedly, this
will be an unforgettable experience.

In my opinion, Hippokrates Exchange programme has been a very very nice experience, and if I study a lot of English, I would like to work
in England, but in summer, because in winter it’s dark at 5:00 PM and it’s very cold!!

In addition to this open-mindedness, I took many other advantages of this exchange: improvement of language skills, learning
medical vocabulary, examples of the role of culture in medical practice, cultural exchanges and mostly meeting unforgettable persons. And
finally, I have understood with this experience, that with some efforts of adaptation to the local language and system (and some
administrative procedures), it is really possible to practise general medicine in other countries of European Union.
In conclusion, even if I never had a doubt, this exchange confirmed me that opening to other cultures is a great luck. The
Hippokrates exchange programme is a very good opportunity to live this experience, in a simple way, adjusted to young GPs, permitting to
fulfil the aims defined by the Vasco da Gama Movement. In particular, it is a way for the visitor as well as for the host, of going further into
their considerations about healthcare systems, especially the one they know better, and see if “the grass is greener at the neighbours”.
Exchanges between us, European general practitioners, can be so rich ; let's take the opportunities of meeting each other and work
together !

I have learned a lot of things during these 2 weeks. It was a really good experience. I still don’t know if this exchange will have an impact
for the future, for my way to work as a GP, but I will not forget these 2 weeks. I really recommend this experience.

The transfer of money within the consultation was novel to me and in all honesty made me feel uncomfortable. Patient’s and GP’s however
seemed to have a very matter of fact attitude to it. And it was helpful to me to learn that although most GPs are in private practice, their
income comes, all be it indirectly, from national health insurance funds, which are administered by non-profit organisations
This challenged me greatly to appreciate the services available to my patients and I in the UK. Surprisingly to me, it has also provoked a
keen interest in the systems and changes in UK healthcare, that until now I’m ashamed to admit I have failed to find the time or space to
properly consider.

This exchange has been a wholly positive experience. It has given me a deep appreciation for Dr P and his GP colleagues, as well as an
admiration of the quality of service they provide within the limits of their (as of any) healthcare system. It has helped me better
understand, critique and want to be involved in change in my own person, practice and the UK’s far from perfect systems. It has
challenged my negative attitudes to French primary care, helped me better understand the needs and expectations of French patients and
left me with a sense that, if they’d have me, I could happily find a place there
