What is different in Animals and Plants?
Plants Animals
Plants can make their own food Animals depend on plants or other
animals for food.
Plants cannot move from one place
to another
Animals move from one place to
another.
Imagine your favorite animal. How does it move? What body
parts does it use to move?
Animals use different body part to move around.
Land animals use their legs to move around
Birds use their wings to move.
Insects hop, fly, crawl or run.
Animals in water -swim.
Fly. Their wings helps
them to move around

Fish
How do these animals move? What helps them move? What is common between them?
What helps a bird to Fly? How do they use their body parts to fly?
The wings help the bird to fly. They move their
wings backwards and forward to fly in the air. Bats
and Butterflies also use their wings to fly.
How do fins help the fish to swim? How do they use it?
Fins help the fishes to move forward, to turn
and to keep their body straight in water. They
tail plays a important role in swimming.
What helps a turtle move in water? Which body part do they use?
Turtles have webbed feet that they use to paddle.
They have strong flippers that they move front and back to swim
Do all animals that swim have fins?
No,
Name some animals that has no fins but can swim?
Frogs can swim without fins. They use their forelegs
and hind legs to move in water
Animals Movement
How do animals that live on land move? What helps them to move?
Cheetah , Hose and Deer move by
walking or running. They have equal
front(forelegs) and back legs (Hind
Legs)
Rabbits. Kangaroos and Frogs move
by jumping(Hopping). They have
Longer , strong hind legs that jump
What is the difference between a Kangaroo and a Horse?
Kangaroo Horse
Hind legs are longer than the forelegs All legs are equal in size
Moves from one place to another by
jumping
Move from one place to another by
running.
How does a centipede move? Which body part
helps it to move?
Centipede moves with the help of its legs.
They have many legs that help them to move around
fast.
How do ants and cockroaches move?
Ants and cockroaches take small steps to move
around. So we can say they crawl on land
Squirrels and pandas have sharp claws that help them to hold on trees.
They have strong forelegs that help them climb trees.
Monkeys and Langurs don’t have claws but they have strong long fingers
that help them to hold onto branches. They can use their feet and tail to hold
on to branches
Animals like mole dig holes on the ground to move from one place to
another
Some land animals do not jump, run or walk. How do they move? Where do these
animals live? What helps them to move around?
Why do animals move?
To search for food.
To escape from other animals.
In search of water
and sometimes for fun.
What is the kingfisher doing?
The kingfisher is diving to catch fish
What is the big fish doing?
The big fish is eating the small fish
What is the eagle doing?
The eagle is trying to catch a fish
Why does this cheetah and Deer run?
Cheetah Runs to catch the deer and the deer runs to escape from the cheetah
Why do animals climb on Trees?
Animals like monkey and squirrels climb trees to eat fruits.
Why does a frog jump?
A Frog jumps to escape from being eaten by snakes.
So animals move in search of food or to escape from other animals eating them
Why do birds migrate from places like Russia to India during winter?
In Winter the weather in Russia is cold and birds move to warmer place .
Movement of birds and animals from one place to another is called MIGRATION
