- Moody's KMV implemented Rally's Agile lifecycle management solutions to provide a single source for tracking development projects across the organization, replacing spreadsheets and separate tools.
- Rally provided real-time visibility into projects through linked user stories, tasks, defects and other items. It supported Agile practices at an enterprise scale.
- Moody's saw significantly faster development times using Rally - a project that previously took 2-3 years was completed in 12 months, and productivity improved 47% over industry averages.

EXPLORING THE LINK BETWEEN LEADERSHIP AND DEVOPS PRACTICE AND PRINCIPLE ADOPTIONacijjournal
Our research focuses in software-intensive organizations and highlights the challenges that surface as a result of the transitioning process of highly-structured to DevOps practices and principles adoption. The approach collected data via a series of thirty (30) interviews, with practitioners from the EMEA
region (Czech Republic, Estonia, Italy, Georgia, Greece, The Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, UAE, UK), working in nine (9) different industry domains and ten (10) different countries. A set of agile, lean and DevOps practices and principles were identified, which organizations select as part of DevOps-oriented adoption. The most frequently adopted ITIL® service management practices, contributing to DevOps practice and principle adoption success, indicate that DevOps-oriented
organizations benefit from the existence of change management, release and deployment management, service level management, incident management and service catalog management. We also uncover that the DevOps adoption leadership role is required in a DevOps team setting and that it should, initially, be an individual role.

Scaling Agile with the Lessons of Lean Product Development FlowTechWell
While first generation agile methods have a solid track record at the team level, many agile transformations get stuck trying to expand throughout the organization. With a set of principles that can help improve software development quality and productivity, lean thinking provides a method for escaping the trap of local optimization. While agile teams can use lean principles to improve their practices, larger organizations can embrace lean to solve problems that commonly plague company-wide agile endeavors. Alan Shalloway explores the lean principles of mapping value streams, creating visibility, managing work levels, and more. Together, these lean principles and practices can help your organization dramatically reduce the amount of waste in the work that teams perform. He introduces kanban, an agile method that is a strong implementation of lean principles. Alan closes with agile adoption case studies that illustrate how lean thinking can extend Scrum practices.

A new approach to delivering applications with speed, quality, and scale to accelerate business success
Experience the next generation of Application Lifecycle Management – with support for waterfall projects, agile, and everything in between.
Many software organizations have moved from traditional methods for software development, such as waterfall method to usage of agile methods. Agile methods are used especially in software development and are constantly refurbishing and improving initial plans along the way. In software development the systems usually require frequent changes during the development process. This method is very suitable for small project and organizations, but it is very hard to implement it in large organizations with large projects and teams. This paper
aims to identify weaknesses of two existing scrum frameworks used for large organizations and to present proposed hybrid framework scaled from both existing frameworks. It’s highlighting the importance of predefined life cycle of teams, which is key factor in achieving better timeline and to avoid mistakes that affects the time of release deployment.
Integrating Scrum development process with UX design flowjournalBEEI
Nowadays, Agile software development practices are being widely adapted all over the world. Scrum is one of the most known Agile models, it satisfies the business needs and put the main focus on the product. One common challenge for the development of customer-facing products is having a good user experience. This paper presents integrating Scrum development process with user experience design flow. In this study, papers relating to the topic of user experience (UX) process integration with Agile development process, how to measure it and how to improve it, from the year 2010 onwards are reviewed. This is to identify how organizations can integrate UX design flow and Scrum development and get the benefits of both. The conducted review identifies a number of limitations in the existing integrations efforts. A proposed process model to resolve these limitations is presented. Along with our experience in implementing it on an ongoing software development project. The results of applying this process, its impact on the project outcomes quality and the employees’ satisfaction with the process are discussed. The goal of this study is to aid organizations in integrating UX design into their development process.

Five Reasons To Integrate Microsoft Visual Studio Team Systems_victoria
This guide will provide you with a comprehensive overview on why VSTS is vital across all phases of product life-cycle management. It will also help you to better understand how you can rationalize development costs, gain higher product quality and accelerate development cycles with VSTS.
Agile software development is a group of software development methods in which requirements and solutions evolve through collaboration between self-organizing, cross-functional teams. It promotes adaptive planning, evolutionary development, early delivery, continuous improvement, and encourages rapid and flexible response to change.
The Agile development model is also a type of Incremental model. Software is developed in incremental, rapid cycles. This results in small incremental releases with each release building on previous functionality. Each release is thoroughly tested to ensure software quality is maintained. It is used for time critical applications.
2. Implementing Rally
Moody’s also chose Rally for its focus on an end-to-end solution for Agile success,
including training and community support. Through a series of on-site training with
coaches in the company’s various locations, Moody’s was able to get up-to-speed on
both best Agile practices and training on the Rally solution.
Darren explains, “One of the other driving factors behind our choosing Rally was their
extensive services organization. Having a Rally coach come on-site helped us really
leverage Agile practices and got us up and running on the Rally solution quickly.”
The rollout of the Rally solution began with one pilot team mostly tracking stories and
tasks. However, the use of Rally quickly spread across the organization because it was so
easy to use and standard dashboards provided instant visibility into progress and
roadblocks. Rally is now used across 13 projects for full Agile lifecycle management
across programs, including test and defect management.
Moody’s team members use Rally’s iteration status dashboard to update status during
their daily standup meetings, planning dashboards for drag-and-drop release and
iteration planning., and the team status dashboard to balance workload and identify
roadblocks. Team members use the iteration status dashboard throughout the day,
while ScrumMasters and others view the release status dashboard on a weekly basis to
ensure that development is on track. Moody’s teams also frequently use user story
backlog screens to prioritize upcoming development work.
In looking at future uses of Rally, the company plans to use Rally’s Integration Hub to
create custom dashboards and reports.
Seeing Results
Moody’s has moved from longer release cycles to a schedule where they are typically
releasing every three months, as a result of its increased productivity. And, the results of
Rally’s solutions are obvious in many areas of the organization.
Darren explains, “An Agile team took over the complete redesign of one of our most
successful desktop products, turning into a scalable enterprise solution. A project of that
scope would likely have taken two to three years using our older waterfall-style process;
we released version 1.0 of the redesigned product to the market in twelve months.”
About Rally
Rally is the leader in Agile application lifecycle management (ALM) dedicated to making
leaner development organizations that respond faster to changing customer needs.
According to a study by QSM Associates, teams that rely on Rally’s Agile lifecycle
management products and services are 50% faster to market and 25% more productive
than industry averages. Rally’s products were honored with four consecutive Jolt Awards
(the software industry’s equivalent of the Oscar®
award) in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.
The company’s end-to-end solutions for Agile development also include Agile University,
the largest source for Agile training, and Agile Commons, the largest collaborative Web
2.0 community dedicated to advancing software agility.
