And on the verge of prosperity,
His fathers life was taken
Leaving Temugin and his family quite shaken

And began to equip
His people to fight
In hopes of defeating his rivals’ might

To his enemies rapture
But escaped in the night
Vowing to come back and fight

Many people wanted it too
He became Khagan
The supreme ruler named Chinggis Khan

And at unsuspecting civilizations they tore
Using hatchets, maces, and short bows
Which they deftly threw at their foes
7. Khan turned his clans willingness to fight
Into an extraordinary Mongol might
This led to the vast conquest
Of territory to the north, south, east, and west
8. Towns were reduced to rubble
And people were killed if they gave any trouble
Mercy was shown to those who refused to refute
But they were forced to pay a tribute
9. They defeated the Chinese
with relative ease
Using battering rams, catapults, and explosive balls
Which they used to bring down the walls
10. When the Mongols and Muslims finally decided to meet
The Mongols used their tactic to feign defeat
Needless to say they succeeded in their attack
Of the Mongols no one can talk smack
11. Though they may seem barbaric and cruel
Chinggis Khan was no fool
He valued religion and art
And associated himself with the scholarly-smart
12. During the final conquest of China he tried
To take they capital Tangut, but he died
His new successor was Ogedei his son
But the Mongol empire was not done
13. The empire continued to grow and expand
And it became an extremely vast land
The Mongols went to Russia and influenced cities such as
Moscow
And positively impacted their economies. Wow!

Many continents were affected by the Mongols conquest
Their rough exterior compared with an intelligent interior is a
mystery
Mongols will forever be a part of history
