Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, known by his stage name Molière, was a French playwright and actor born in Paris in 1622 and died there in 1673. He worked with a royal theatrical troupe for over 13 years, directing his own plays and often starring in the leading roles. In his last work, The Imaginary Invalid, Molière satirized the medical field and issues of social class through the story of a hypochondriac man and his scheming wife and doctors.
