Sharepoint User Group Geneva - Introduction to Office 365Mark Stokes
This is an "Introduction to Office 365" session that I performed to the SharePoint User Group in Geneva in March 2014.
I cover the architecture of Office 365 (and related technologies) and focus in on SharePoint Online and the administration tools.
I also discuss a few "Cloud" based topics that are not necessarily Office 365 focused, but considerations that you should think about before engaging ANY cloud provider.

Power BI has in its DNA the goal of enabling everybody to experience their data any way, anywhere—in seconds and at global scale.
Power BI offers a set of capabilities that are uniquely enabled by its global and cloud nature:
The ability to harness data from Excel spreadsheets, on-premises data sources through the data gateway, big data, streaming data, and cloud services. It doesn’t matter what type of data you want or where it lives, Power BI allows you to connect to hundreds of data sources.

Microsoft SharePoint Server 2016 Preview - Reviewers GuideDavid J Rosenthal
In today’s volatile economic climate, organizations require collaboration, communication, and productivity solutions to be both cost-effective and flexible. SharePoint Server 2016 can help you achieve new levels of reliability and performance, delivering features and capabilities that simplify administration, protect communications and information, and empower users while meeting their demands for greater business mobility.
SharePoint Server is a preferred choice among organizations to enable rich, seamless, and productive collaboration. SharePoint Server 2016 builds on the investments of previous SharePoint releases and Office 365 innovation to:
•
Lower IT costs with a flexible and scalable collaboration platform.
•
Better manage risk by safeguarding your business with secure and reliable capabilities.
•
Increase productivity through cost-effective and

SharePoint Server 2016 has been designed, developed, and tested with the Microsoft Software as a Service (SaaS) strategy, building on SharePoint Online as its core. Drawing extensively from that experience, SharePoint Server 2016 offers you new and improved, highly flexible deployment options. You can choose from a traditional on-premises deployment, a hosted service with Microsoft Office 365 sites powered by Microsoft SharePoint Online, deployment in Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), or a mix of these options with a hybrid approach, empowering you to choose how and when you take advantage of on-premises or cloud-based solutions, all without changing the user experience. Seamless integration with on-premises people experiences and taxonomy
Are you looking for a better strategy to retire your legacy Lotus Notes applications and migrate them seamlessly to the cloud?
Office 365 & Azure brings best of both the worlds together to simplify and enhance the cloud experience. Office 365 with Azure allows more flexibility and greater business agility. It helps leveraging familiar tools for simple deployment, and user experiences as well as a leaner, controlled model for enterprises. Migration of legacy applications to the cloud gets you and your enterprise out of the business of hosting, supporting and maintaining the applications on your infrastructure.
Aqeel Haider, Vice President of Technology Solutions, WinWire Technologies shares an in-depth view of WinWire’s capabilities to retire and re-platform legacy Lotus applications to Office 365 & Azure.

I was asked to come in and BA the existing solution estate at the
SFRS, which involves stake-holder interactions, BPM, SLA creation
for new ICT service provision and solution testing and installation.
The environment requires HA and strong remote accessibility for
most solutions with extensive performance reporting on many
aspects. Thus far I reintroduced a UAT environment on VM Ware
VMs, copied the Production environment into the UAT and begun
to debug the development items. I have also composed and
created all new host header site URLs for the UAT. Along with this
is a new governance site with list libraries with governance
procedures and other documentation that did not exist before I
arrived. I have also worked with the ICT team to educate and
update their AD groups, began a train-the-trainer program for
certain members of the service. I’ve created other solutions based
on workflow and OOTB functionality for certain specific response
events. Also I created and made available a UAT environment for
the BI team where their SSIS/RS/AS is all available and
functioning. The forth coming data warehouse solution also sits on
this SQL BI system, which I used my own dispersion of data and
logs, and configuration of the SQL base system and instances.
Finally I have worked with the team to identify potential platforms
and applications that could be placed into the web to free up
resources and provide a way into potential hybrid cloud based
solutions.
