Mansukhbhai Prajapati is an Indian clay craftsman who developed the Mitticool fridge, a low-cost refrigerator that runs without electricity. He started his business in 1988 and struggled initially. In 2002, after suffering losses in an earthquake, he invented the Mitticool fridge using an evaporation effect to provide cooling. It keeps food fresh and the temperature inside about 8 degrees cooler than the room. The Mitticool fridge and Prajapati's other clay products have been very successful, with a turnover of 45 lakhs and exports to Africa and Dubai. However, success did not come easily as Prajapati faced huge debts while developing his products.
