Hurricane Mitch was one of the deadliest hurricanes on record, killing around 11,000 people in Honduras. It destroyed 70% of crops, including 80% of the banana crop, resulting in estimated agricultural losses of $900 million. Several aid organizations mobilized emergency response teams to provide food, water, clothing, medicine and supplies to those affected in Honduras.
