Mission San Luis de Apalachee was a principal village of the Apalachee Indians located in Florida. It served as Spain's most westward military, religious, and administrative headquarters during the colonial period. A key feature was the large Council House, one of the largest native American structures in the southeast, where the Apalachee people would meet and gather. Now a living history museum and national historic landmark, it offers tours about the important role it played in Florida history.
