 What does is modify? Did the baby turn on the
radio? No!!!
 To correct it, give the modifier something to
modify!
 The baby woke up after her brother turned on the
radio.

4.  Carlos found another fuse in the drawer that
was no good.
 Was the fuse no good? Or the drawer?
 How to fix it – place the modifier – “that was no
good” – closer to the word it modifies:
 Carlos found another fuse that was not good in
the drawer.

5.  While sweeping the floor, the stew boiled over
on the stove.
 Modifier – “while sweeping the floor”
 Who swept the floor? Insert the word it
modifies.
 While ____ was sweeping the floor, the stew
boiled over on the stove.

6.  After putting a new ribbon in the printer, my
papers looked better.
 What is the modifier? Underline it.
 Did the papers put in a new ribbon?
