The project product, an Ebook platform, is a robust and viable
solution for education.
Netbooks offer scalability to the ever growing institutions that
educate the products of our future.
PROJECT INTENTIONS
• Implement New Ebook System
• Elimination of Paper Textbooks
• Reduce Paper Usage and Costs
• Provide Easier Access to Course Material
• Provide Netbooks Where Students Can Store All Textbooks In One
Location
PROJECT VALUE
● Centralized and comprehensive learning via up to date materials
● Increased grades and graduation rate
● 50%-60% Cost Reduction over 5 years on Textbooks and Other Fees
● Qualify for Green Tax Deductions and Other Incentive Programs
● $50,000 Reduction in Printing Costs Per Year
● $700 savings per student every 3 years due to using netbooks rather
than traditional text
TECHNICAL OVERVIEW
Everest Technology Consulting, Inc. will be supporting Pinellas County School District
implement a countywide Ebooks solution.
The county will purchase all tablets, netbooks, licensing and any additional hardware.
There are no new infrastructure costs that will be endured by the school district outside the
purchase of the tables and licenses.
The project team will repurpose an existing server to configure the student/teacher
database that will integrate with the grade recording platform and the Ebook platform.
TIMELINE & COST
Initiation, Planning $17,550.00
Logistics $125,750.00
Database Build $14, 000.00
Staging and Simulation $11,400.00
Onsite Deployment and First Day in Service $6,000.00 (per school)
Project Closeout $5,000.00
PROJECT STATUS
The project is on schedule and will have a go-live date of August 19th.
The project is within budget and will meet its projected cost estimate
Other than the lead times on the tablets, there are no foreseeable
schedule hindrances.
There will be 1 day of training per school during the operations transition
SUMMARY
Education is the forefront of our society and it is our obligation to
foster its growth.
The expansion and adoption of the netbook solution will support
this goal.
As the digital age continues, our children deserve to be equipped
with the best tools to get the most out of their education.
This solution is a win/win for the Pinellas County School District,
the students and the teachers.
