The Innovation Doctor Is In: How SMART on FHIR Will Evolve EHRsMedullan
With the shift to population health moving into high gear, standards are needed to create and support new workflows and support tools for clinicians. Clinicians don't need "yet another system". EHR deployments are painful enough as it is! SMART on FHIR offers the opportunity to bring new innovations from the Health IT community into the existing EHR systems where everyone wins: clinicians, Health IT innovators, EHR systems, and Hospital and Health Systems. It's simple, it's open, and allows companies like Medullan to bring human-centered technology solutions to an ecosystem intended to take better care of humans.
Join us to find out how much of that promise is available today and why SMART on FHIR may or may not become the defacto standard in the future.
Introduction to the 2012 Indivo X Users' Conference, including a history of Indivo and Personal Health Records, a discussion of the reasons for Google Health's demise, and how Indivo's open architecture might provide a solution.

Drug Discovery Innovation in a Precompetitive Cloud Platform (LFS302-S) - AWS...Amazon Web Services
Informatics systems used by research scientists today have significant limitations, since they come from many vendors, use different data formats, and were developed with various UI standards. These limitations create barriers to accessing and integrating heterogeneous, siloed research data in a meaningful way to facilitate innovation and collaboration. In this session, Accenture and Merck discuss the expanded capabilities and benefits—for drug discovery organizations and software providers—of a newly launched research platform that gives the research science world a highly elastic, cloud infrastructure with a single UI and advanced computing power that accelerates drug discovery activities and enables competitive differentiation. This session is brought to you by AWS partner, Accenture.
APIs have become essential to success in the app economy. How does your use of APIs compare with other companies? According to a recent survey of 1,442 IT and business leaders by Freeform Dynamics, commissioned by CA Technologies, the most successful digital businesses are 2x more likely to leverage APIs for internal development and 2.8x more likely to use APIs to enable third party apps.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

4. Million Hearts
Risk Check Challenge
“The challenge asks developers to create new apps that
inform consumers of their general heart risk, motivate them
to obtain more accurate risk assessments by entering their
blood pressure and cholesterol values, and direct them to
nearby community pharmacies (and other locations) that
offer affordable and convenient blood pressure and
cholesterol screenings”
5. Million Hearts
Risk Check Challenge
Participating developers will have access to two sources of content that should markedly shape the
development of the app:
1. A new Application Programming Interface (API) for conducting the quick health risk assessment
over a consumer-facing interface, hosted by Archimedes and built using their Indigo product.
2. Locations (and specific descriptors) of places where individuals can go for a lipid and blood
pressure screening, made available through flat files from Million HeartsTM and a new API hosted
by Surescripts.
Each of these source APIs is described in more detail on the Challenge website and in linked appendices.
In order for the Department of Health and Human Services to formally “sponsor” the winning app in a
Million Hearts campaign, it will be important for applicants to specifically follow the inputs and outputs of
the two APIs. Conformity with these inputs and outputs is included in the judging criteria.
Aside from these API elements, creativity is strongly encouraged, particularly in platform design, consumer
engagement, personalized risk communication, and ways to link the two APIs together.
6. Resources
The following Appendices can be found on the Challenge
page:
• Appendix A - Archimedes Indigo API Usage Document
• Appendix B - Archimedes Indigo API Data Spec
• Appendix C - Surescripts API Guide
• Appendix D - Surescripts API Using the Test Application
7. Evaluation Criteria
1. How well the apps follow the specific input and output requirements of the two APIs and exchange
data with the data sources (Surescripts and the Community Healthcare Provider lists), as well as the
Archimedes API
2. Effectiveness in getting individuals to answer all the questions for the initial risk assessment
3. Effectiveness in communicating initial risk to individuals, based on guidelines provided by
Archimedes API
4. Effectiveness in encouraging further testing (specifically lipids and BP), especially for those with
some risk
5. Effectiveness in communicating final risk to individuals, based on guidelines provided by Archimedes
API
6. Effectiveness in encouraging lifestyle changes for those at some risk
8. Evaluation Criteria
7. Effectiveness in encouraging seeing a health professional if they are at high risk
8. How easy and intuitive is the app to use, and how well does it engage consumers from diverse
backgrounds. Which app is the most likely to get the most people to know their full cardiovascular risk?
9. Submissions will be judged on their operating plans for the year, and the sustainability of the app over
the life of the initiative. Has the entrant provided a viable plan for initial and ongoing technical capacity to
meet projected usage as well as for support, maintenance and enhancement of the application?
10. Demonstration of submitter’s current or prior ability to engage consumers.
11. Demonstration of a business plan and likelihood of the app being sustainable beyond the campaign
period.
