On January 6, 1853, Florida Governor Thomas Brown signed the bill that gave
public support to higher education. East Florida Seminary in Ocala is one of
the first schools to use this funding, but it soon closes because of the Civil
War. In 1866, EFS reopens in Gainesville, start a 150-year trip to become one
of the largest, schools in the world.

Some famous people that attended University Of Florida were, Udonis
Haslem who formally plays for the Miami Heats, Emmitt Smith a NFL Hall-ofFamer and also medalist Olympics track and field athlete Kerron Clement.
Thomas Hall at UF, a ghost by the name of Steve haunts the building. In the
earlier days of this Florida Gators building, there was a cafeteria. Steve was
a cook who worked there and was popular between the students. One day,
Steve died and it affected the students that he was close to greatly. Soon
after his death, students began to hear sounds that reminded you of pans or
pots being banged together. Many believed these sounds were by the
heating radiators in the building, but there are many who believe that these
sounds are caused by Steve appealing in on campus ghost adventures

I would like to attend the University Of Florida because having degree
creates far more employment opportunities. I feel this is a great school and
holds better options than most schools. The fact is: UF is hard to get into
because its a good school. UF is rated the #2 public University in the nation
in positions of the number of national excellence scholars. Its #8 in the
freshman retention rate. UF is consistently ranked in the top 25 Universities in
the country. There are a lot of great reasons to choose UF: the sports teams
are great, the city is fun, the weather is beautiful, the people are smart, cost
of living in Gainesville is low, the University has a great name worldwide, the
CLASS WEBSITES are amazing, the advisor support is true and helpful. UF also
costs MUCH less than many other Universities.
