Funding the Black Caucus Alumni Brunch
Nature of the Situation:

On October 1st, 2021, the President of Black Caucus, DeAndre Malcolm, reached out to UPUA

President Erin Boas, UPUA Vice President Najee Rodriguez, and UPUA Black Caucus

Representative Jeanelle Loiseau to inquire about the possibility of receiving co-funding on a
5
programming event known as the Black Caucus Alumni Brunch which will allow active
6
members of the student body who are a part of Black Caucus to connect with Penn State and
7
Black Caucus alumni to learn about important resources and to engage in shared experiences, to
8
better support students now.

The event is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, October 24th from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

Furthermore, there is an approximation of expenses to be $4,500. While the event was originally
12
scheduled for Heritage Hall, the event will now take place in HUB 233AB due to a booking
13
conflict which will lead to a decrease in expenses.

Recommended Course of Action:

The University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA) will hereby support and fund the Black
18
Caucus Alumni Lunch, specifically through supporting food, decoration, and miscellaneous
19
logistical costs. The UPUA also commits to bolstering its co-funding efforts to all organizations
20
that represent underrepresented communities.

With the support from UPUA, an important component of the programming that Black Caucus
23
undertakes to support Black students at the University will be supported and students will be
24
supported.

The Department of Public Relations is hereby charged with disseminating this information and
27
promoting this event through all appropriate avenues.
