SPEAKING
CRITERIA
C Can produce clear, smoothly flowing well-structured speech with an effective logical structure which helps the recipient to notice and
remember significant points.
B2 Can give clear, systematically developed descriptions and presentations on a wide range of subjects related to his/her field of interest,
with appropriate highlighting of significant points, and relevant supporting detail.
B1 Can reasonably fluently sustain a straightforward description of one of a variety of subjects within his/her field of interest, presenting it
as a linear sequence of points.
A2 Can give a simple description or presentation of people, living or working conditions, daily routines likes/dislikes, etc. as a short series of
simple phrases and sentences linked into a list.
A1 Can produce simple descriptions on mainly personal topics.
A0 Not enough language knowledge demonstrated to allow for any meaningful inferences about the candidate’s ability.
GENERAL
INFORMATION
• There are 4 parts.
• There are 10 questions which must be
completed in 12 minutes.
• The level of difficulty increases as the test
progresses.

TIPS
• Listen carefully to the questions you’re asked so that your answers are
relevant.
• Answer the questions you’re asked with some detail so that your answers
are long enough.
• Use the preparation time in Part 4 to think about the questions and take
notes.
• Use in Part 4 to help you to organize your long turn.
• Explain your opinions and give examples to support them.
• Don't talk about something different from what’s in the question.
• Don’t worry if your answer is longer than 2 minutes in Part 4.
• Don’t worry if you can’t think of a word, try to paraphrase and get round
it.
• Don’t worry if you realize you’ve made a mistake. It’s OK to correct
yourself. If you can't correct yourself, forget it and carry on.

  • 3. SPEAKING CRITERIA C Can produce clear, smoothly flowing well-structured speech with an effective logical structure which helps the recipient to notice and remember significant points. B2 Can give clear, systematically developed descriptions and presentations on a wide range of subjects related to his/her field of interest, with appropriate highlighting of significant points, and relevant supporting detail. B1 Can reasonably fluently sustain a straightforward description of one of a variety of subjects within his/her field of interest, presenting it as a linear sequence of points. A2 Can give a simple description or presentation of people, living or working conditions, daily routines likes/dislikes, etc. as a short series of simple phrases and sentences linked into a list. A1 Can produce simple descriptions on mainly personal topics. A0 Not enough language knowledge demonstrated to allow for any meaningful inferences about the candidate’s ability.

TIPS • Listen carefully to the questions you’re asked so that your answers are relevant. • Answer the questions you’re asked with some detail so that your answers are long enough. • Use the preparation time in Part 4 to think about the questions and take notes. • Use in Part 4 to help you to organize your long turn. • Explain your opinions and give examples to support them. • Don't talk about something different from what’s in the question. • Don’t worry if your answer is longer than 2 minutes in Part 4. • Don’t worry if you can’t think of a word, try to paraphrase and get round it. • Don’t worry if you realize you’ve made a mistake. It’s OK to correct yourself. If you can't correct yourself, forget it and carry on.
