This document discusses using motivational interviewing and facial recognition software to help promote healthy behavior changes among older Hispanic males. Motivational interviewing shows promise as a behavioral change approach that is not seen as authoritative. A study is proposed to analyze if motivational interviewing combined with a hope assessment survey can increase adherence to health prescriptions and reduce risks of diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Facial recognition software will help determine emotions not recognized during interviews to help practitioners develop effective intervention plans.

Q.1 MUST BE ANSWERED ON SATURDAY, Mar. 10 NLT 10 PM EST (200 words A MUST for each question. Please provide reference for each question for each question. Keep them numbered.)
1. This unit provided the 10-step approach of putting a communication campaign together. Step 6 involves selecting the appropriate communication channels. Why would selecting the right channel or channels be so important? What would be some of the examples of those channels if you were trying to put a communication campaign together that was designed to increase awareness for young people about the need for physical exercise and better eating habits to address the problem of obesity?
2. What are some of the key components in the overall ecology of global health? Are these different from the ecological context for domestic health? If so, how? Please explain and provide supporting examples.
3. Does mobile technology and social media change the way communications theory can be applied? Or do these developments change the theory itself?
4. Imagine you are in charge of putting an anti-smoking communication campaign together (geared towards young adults) in your local community. Correctly identifying your target audience would be an important step. Who would be your target audience or audiences in this example? Are there any groups or sub-groups? Also, would you need to segment your audience in any way? Please address each of these questions and explain the overall importance of correctly identifying your target audience as part of your intended communication campaign.

Diet and Physical Activity.
The body requires a healthy diet and once at a time physical activity to ensure healthy lives, but contrary to that unhealthy diets and inactivity contribute to chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer or cardiovascular diseases. Improving diets and physical activity will actually reduce disease and deaths on the target community that is currently is something World Health Organization started an initiative for member states to adopt diet, physical activity, and disease prevention.
This health promotion activity is directed towards the local community and specifically the elderly, mainly because they are the section of the population that is likely to be attacked by such diseases, but also the other population section is affected. So, the focus will be on the physicians and nutritionists who will come in and help with this campaign. This is because the younger population like the millennials mostly focus on healthy living with going vegan or regularly visiting the gym in the pursuit of following trends. This will not be a problem for this age group.
The possible stakeholders will be both the government and the private sectors, in the sense that other workplaces have policies in place that support physical activity and proper diet for their workers for the sole purpose of productivity in the workplace. They initiatives in place that include: maybe having walking meetings, provide healthy diet solutions at the workplace by inviting nutritionists and many other ways. The expected results include a healthy community, and maybe possibly pass the message wide enough that it can be a worldwide movement that is of course after ensuring the point is taken in this local community. Hence this is the best health promotion activity for this target population because I believe knowledge is power whereby it acts as prevention, which will bring the collaboration of various professions in the clinical practice.

Research question: “Does self-disclosure of the therapist improve eating disorder treatment.”
Hypothesis: Self-disclosure of the therapist improves eating disorder treatment.
Information On Research
The key variables for this research are self-disclosure of the therapist and eating disorder treatment. This research will focus on online research whereby participants will be recruited from an eating disorder charity database. The participants will be asked about the status of their condition and how they feel about having the disorder. The neutral condition will be that the therapists will disclose their sexuality and their feelings towards the patients’ conditions and personality (Marziliano, Pessin, Rosenfeld, & Breitbart, 2018).
Process of Study
The study will continue for two months with the therapists making contact with the participants once every week. These conditions will form the independent variables. The dependent variable would be participants continued to receive positive self-disclosures from the therapist leading to a greater level of patient self-disclosure, which lowered their shame, and encouraged the participants to continue with the treatment process. The participants will also be asked if they have been involved in any treatment before, and how they could describe their therapeutic alliance (Fuertes, Moore, & Ganley, 2018).
A longitudinal study and the rate of drop-out will be used to gather more information about the participants. The collected data will then be analyzed in relation to the independent variables by the end of the study. One of the ethical issues, which will be looked into while conducting the study, is informed consent. Participants will be informed about the purpose of the research and will have the right to participate or not participate in it. Secondly, the research will ensure the privacy and confidentiality of every participant.
Annotated Bibliography:
Secrecy and concealment are typical behaviors in individuals with eating problems. In the article titled “ Self-Disclosure in eating disorders,” researchers examined women with greater related eating issues and determined whether or not, these women would be willing to disclose information. In this study, different types of disclosure were calculated considering the body appearance of the individual and to restrained eating. This article would benefit my research because it provides great information that will confirm my theory and test my hypothesis.
Abstract 1.
Those who suffer from eating disorders are very emotional beings. Often times, some may not feel a need to express their need to not eat foods. Many women become self-conscious about their weight and find it hard to share th.
2. Health Issues.
The prevalence of metabolic and chronic diseases such as
Type 2 diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease in
minorities are high. Adherence to recommended
medical/health prescriptions are especially poor among the
Hispanic/Latino population.
Behavioral health models/strategies have been used to help
reduce the risk of metabolic and chronic diseases. Research
has shown the usefulness of employing behavioral health
change models/strategies in helping provide avenues to
implement and make positive lifestyle changes.
Behavioral Models.
Trying to resolve all health behavior changes with just one
behavioral model/strategy is an act of futility. There are too
many variables that have an outcome on the success of making
a healthy lifestyle change.
This is apparent when dealing with the Latino/Hispanic
population as factors such as cultural and linguistic barriers,
poverty, and cultural values that are not respected or
overlooked by health care professionals are involved. Cultural
differences that are not recognized by the health professional
can increase the ambivalence of the Latino/Hispanic
community and influence their willingness to initiate a healthy
behavioral change.
Among the different types of behavioral models/strategies a
health professional may use when trying to implement a
positive behavioral change, the health professional may
incorporate a “little bit of this with a little bit of that” way of
thinking. For example when using an expert-didactic model,
an expert will diagnosis and prescribe a solution, often telling
his/her client what the problem is and how to resolve it. It is
useful in the acute medical field, but would have drawbacks
when trying to elicit a personal change particularly in the
Latino/Hispanic culture.
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a behavioral change
approach that shows promise in promoting change in behavior
that is not seen as authoritative, intrusive or confrontational in
practice. The heart of MI involves eliciting the client’s own
desire for behavioral change as a motivating factor. Thus the
development of trust, respect, hope and the client’s
involvement in change are paramount. MI would promote a
healthier behavior change adherence within the culture.
Application.
The purpose of this application is to analyze the effectiveness
of using MI as an intervention in behavioral change therapy, in
conjunction with a hope assessment survey with older
Hispanic/Latino males. This study will analyze if there is an
increased adherence to health medication/prescription with the
intervention of MI. Utilizing a hope assessment survey during
a pre- and post-interview will help determine if there is a
correlation of this specific population using MI, to help reduce
health risks associated with this group, such as obesity, T2D,
and CVD. The ability of the Hope Assessment is to determine
potential for individuals to either follow medical interventions
or seek medical advice. It is really the tool that measures the
inner motivation to initiate and maintain medical change
behaviors.
The utilization of facial recognition software is used to help
determine emotions that may not be recognized or detected by
the health practitioner and their client when conducting an
interview. This is beneficial as it will provide crucial insight to
the health practitioner with the development and
implementation of a positive healthy behavioral lifestyle
change with their client. This will help heighten those skills
necessary in academia in understanding the nuances of the
behavioral methods used with the technology available in
reducing those health risks that are so prevalent today.
3. Interviewee.
What emotions are assumed to be obtained by the posture that is
being exhibited? Maybe anger, frustration, fear, or a combination of
all.
Even during a tough interview session we can capture some aspects
that the interviewee is trying to hide with her/his emotions.
Interviewer.
In trying to determine what can be useful to help his client with an
intervention plan, the interviewer shows signs of frustration as the
interviewee is stonewalling their questions.
Analysis of the face with the corresponding graph of emotions starting on the bottom left. From this data,
the practitioner can formulate a more appropriate plan of action to help secure the client’s adherence to
the interventions.
Conducting an interview utilizing facial
recognition software to help determine
emotions that may not be recognized or
detected by the interviewee and interviewer.
Analysis of Interviewee.
4. Performing an analysis of the interviewer/practitioner can also detect subtle changes that can illicit a
response to the client’s acceptance and adherence to the intervention plan. Obviously a positive result of
emotions will help with the implementation of the behavioral change strategy and a negative result will
also show the practitioner emotions that he may need to be made aware of to achieve a more positive
outcome with their client.
Bio.
My name is Frank Medina and I am a currently a Master of
Science candidate in the Exercise and Wellness program at
the Arizona State University Motivational Interviewing
Laboratories.
I come from a large Hispanic family and the untimely death
of a relative was a motivating factor in pursuing my
education in the Exercise and Wellness field.
As a Health Professional, I understand the significance of
living a healthy lifestyle. The importance of prescribing and
coaching appropriate exercise programs, providing
appropriate nutritional advice, and promoting a more
physical active life will improve the quality of life. This is a
philosophy that I strongly believe will help reduce the ill
effects of those diseases that are prevalent among
minorities.
The key is the implementation and adherence to behavioral
change so the individual can benefit from a healthier
lifestyle change.
