Company Overview
• Kathleen Papa founded KPI, Incorporated in 1993
• In-Home Healthcare Agency
• Created out of response to high numbers of
disabled patients wanting to receive in-home
healthcare
• Services include skilled nursing and personal
care work
• One office in Oconomowoc
• 8 Administrative Staff
• Over 300 employed nurses, nursing assistants,
and personal care workers

KPI currently has the ability to serve 80% of the people who want
services because they don’t have enough nurses to accommodate the
clients. Clients can take anywhere from 1-9 nurses to accommodate their
needs.

On average 2-3 clients are turned down EACH DAY due to the lack of
resources available to KPI. The market also has encouraged KPI to expand
into other parts of the Country; however, because they can’t keep up in
Wisconsin, they are uncertain how they would begin to expand.

Clean Up Job Descriptions and Provide a Way for KPI to Receive Client Feedback to Improve Business and Plan for

Create Patient Survey
No current way of conducting research or receiving feedback from their patients (clients) on
how they are feeling about the services they are receiving from KPI.
High demand - many patients have no other option for care and will not “leave” KPI.
Technology – many patients don’t utilize technology and therefore getting a survey to the
client is a little more challenging.
Conduct Job Analysis
KPI is lacking the resources they need in order to support consumer demand, we will need to
conduct a job analysis in order to post relevant job descriptions.
Office staff splits many tasks – a few people do a lot. Conducting a Job analysis will help to
streamline each position and identify where we need more staff.
Update Job Descriptions
Due to the lack of staff - KPI will need to post updated job descriptions online and on job
sites in order to attract the right people for the job.
It is imperative that job descriptions are up to date and correctly specify the job
requirements/duties and KSA’s necessary.

    Our Project Objectives CleanUp Job Descriptions and Provide a Way for KPI to Receive Client Feedback to Improve Business and Plan for Growth 6 Create Patient Survey No current way of conducting research or receiving feedback from their patients (clients) on how they are feeling about the services they are receiving from KPI. High demand - many patients have no other option for care and will not “leave” KPI. Technology – many patients don’t utilize technology and therefore getting a survey to the client is a little more challenging. Conduct Job Analysis KPI is lacking the resources they need in order to support consumer demand, we will need to conduct a job analysis in order to post relevant job descriptions. Office staff splits many tasks – a few people do a lot. Conducting a Job analysis will help to streamline each position and identify where we need more staff. Update Job Descriptions Due to the lack of staff - KPI will need to post updated job descriptions online and on job sites in order to attract the right people for the job. It is imperative that job descriptions are up to date and correctly specify the job requirements/duties and KSA’s necessary.

  • #6 With this lack of resources (limited resource environment – lecture*) have your clients/patients given any feedback that would indicate that they are unhappy with their services or that they feel like their nurses are spread too thin? Response was that they did not have any way of measuring this. This organizational challenge shed light on three main objectives for our project based on what we have learned in class.
  • #7 Currently KPI does not have any mode of conducting research or receiving feedback from their clients on how they are doing. Many of these clients do not have access to or do not choose to use online capabilities (which is commonly a method today for conducting research) so it has not been a project KPI has taken on. We believe that feedback is extremely important for a company’s success and our first goal was to create a way for clients to give feedback to KPI on their experience. Job Analysis: Imperative that you conduct a job analysis before you go into job descriptions (lecture) in order to receive accurate information cant just “guess” what job description will be, need actual data showing what everyone thinks the purpose of the job is, what its functions are, and what its key skills are Job Descriptions: - big problem companies have is irrelevant and outdated job descriptions (lecture) we want to avoid this for KPI before they think about expanding to make sure they have the right people on this journey with them!
  • #14 Key Strength: Consumers need this service, not just a want Nursing homes are at capacity and there is no other option Spreads by word of mouth Although this currently isn’t a “problem” want to make sure we mitigate risks if expansion happens. Need to make sure our employees possess the KSA’s that are necessary, and that they are built into the vertical integration of the company and our mission. We don’t contact the clients at all so we really don’t know if they are doing a good job. Key Opportunity: - Although demand is high, KPI has monopolized the market so there is nowhere else to go. - Never faced a problem with maintaining clients so have never asked for feedback. - From class we have learned how important it is to constantly review your processes and business in order to mitigate risk before they come apparent – especially in dealing with biases and close patient/nurse relationships we want to get that feedback If looking to expand we think it puts even more pressure on this. Competitors are bound to arise, want to make sure we give the best service
