Metadata harvesting is the automatic collection of metadata from individual repositories using metadata extraction systems or generators. It occurs through analyzing tags and elements like Dublin Core to gather descriptive, technical, and administrative information without human intervention. However, inconsistencies in metadata practices across repositories can cause confusion and insufficient data for service providers harvesting metadata through the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH). Improving guidelines, local standards, evaluation, communication, and data quality can help address these harvesting problems.

An Extensible Framework to Validate and Build Dataset ProfilesAhmad Assaf
Linked Open Data (LOD) has emerged as one of the largest collections of interlinked datasets on the web. In order to benefit from this mine of data, one needs to access to descriptive information about each dataset (or metadata). This information can be used to delay data entropy, enhance dataset discovery, exploration and reuse as well as helping data portal administrators in detecting and eliminating spam. However, such metadata information is currently very limited to a few data portals where they are usually provided manually, thus being often incomplete and inconsistent in terms of quality. To address these issues, we propose a scalable automatic approach for extracting, validating, correcting and generating descriptive linked dataset profiles. This approach applies several techniques in order to check the validity of the metadata provided and to generate descriptive and statistical information for a particular dataset or for an entire data portal.

This document discusses challenges with centralized data architectures and proposes a data mesh approach. It outlines 4 challenges: 1) centralized teams fail to scale sources and consumers, 2) point-to-point data sharing is difficult to decouple, 3) bridging operational and analytical systems is complex, and 4) legacy data stacks rely on outdated paradigms. The document then proposes a data mesh architecture with domain data as products and an operational data platform to address these challenges by decentralizing control and improving data sharing, discovery, and governance.

A machine learning and data science pipeline for real companiesDataWorks Summit
Comcast is one of the largest cable and telecommunications providers in the country built on decades of mergers, acquisitions, and subscriber growth. The success of our company depends on keeping our customers happy and how quickly we can pivot with changing trends and new technologies. Data abounds within our internal data centers and edge networks as well as both the private and public cloud across multiple vendors.
Within such an environment and given such challenges, how do we get AI, machine learning, and data science platforms built so our company can respond to the market, predict our customers’ needs and create new revenue generating products that delight our customers? If you don’t happen to be our friends and colleagues at Google, Facebook, and Amazon, what are technologies, strategies, and toolkits you can employ to bring together disparate data sets and quickly get them into the hands of your data scientists and then into your own production systems for use by your customers and business partners?
We’ll explore our journey and evolution and look at specific technologies and decisions that have gotten us to where we are today and demo how our platform works.

DataFinder concepts and example: General (20100503)Data Finder
DataFinder is a lightweight client-server solution for centralized data management. It was created by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) to address the problems of absent data organization structures and no centralized policy for data management. DataFinder provides graphical user interfaces and uses a logical data store concept to organize data across distributed storage locations according to a configurable data model. It can be customized through Python scripts to integrate with different environments and automate tasks like data migration.
Metadata can sometimes be an afterthought in the data publishing process and become a cumbersome task for technology teams when deferred until the end of a project. It is however the most important step for data publishers who aspire to high data discovery and appropriate usage of the data by all consumers. During a mass data migration event, an opportunity presented itself to the city of Mesa to make it a trivial task to review and improve their metadata. Join us in Phoenix to learn more about how the city of Mesa used FME + an excel workbook + Socrata metadata API endpoint to update metadata in bulk and provide validation reports on the completeness and accuracy of their metadata across their data portal.

Challenges in Data Analytics:
Different application scenarios need different storage solutions: HBASE is ideal for point query scenarios but unsuitable for multi-dimensional queries. MPP is suitable for data warehouse scenarios but engine and data are coupled together which hampers scalability. OLAP stores used in BI applications perform best for Aggregate queries but full scan queries perform at a sub-optimal performance. Moreover, they are not suitable for real-time analysis. These distinct systems lead to low resource sharing and need different pipelines for data and application management.

Embedded machine learning-based road conditions and driving behavior monitoringIJECEIAES
Car accident rates have increased in recent years, resulting in losses in human lives, properties, and other financial costs. An embedded machine learning-based system is developed to address this critical issue. The system can monitor road conditions, detect driving patterns, and identify aggressive driving behaviors. The system is based on neural networks trained on a comprehensive dataset of driving events, driving styles, and road conditions. The system effectively detects potential risks and helps mitigate the frequency and impact of accidents. The primary goal is to ensure the safety of drivers and vehicles. Collecting data involved gathering information on three key road events: normal street and normal drive, speed bumps, circular yellow speed bumps, and three aggressive driving actions: sudden start, sudden stop, and sudden entry. The gathered data is processed and analyzed using a machine learning system designed for limited power and memory devices. The developed system resulted in 91.9% accuracy, 93.6% precision, and 92% recall. The achieved inference time on an Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense with a 32-bit CPU running at 64 MHz is 34 ms and requires 2.6 kB peak RAM and 139.9 kB program flash memory, making it suitable for resource-constrained embedded systems.

Electric vehicle and photovoltaic advanced roles in enhancing the financial p...IJECEIAES
Climate change's impact on the planet forced the United Nations and governments to promote green energies and electric transportation. The deployments of photovoltaic (PV) and electric vehicle (EV) systems gained stronger momentum due to their numerous advantages over fossil fuel types. The advantages go beyond sustainability to reach financial support and stability. The work in this paper introduces the hybrid system between PV and EV to support industrial and commercial plants. This paper covers the theoretical framework of the proposed hybrid system including the required equation to complete the cost analysis when PV and EV are present. In addition, the proposed design diagram which sets the priorities and requirements of the system is presented. The proposed approach allows setup to advance their power stability, especially during power outages. The presented information supports researchers and plant owners to complete the necessary analysis while promoting the deployment of clean energy. The result of a case study that represents a dairy milk farmer supports the theoretical works and highlights its advanced benefits to existing plants. The short return on investment of the proposed approach supports the paper's novelty approach for the sustainable electrical system. In addition, the proposed system allows for an isolated power setup without the need for a transmission line which enhances the safety of the electrical network

The CBC machine is a common diagnostic tool used by doctors to measure a patient's red blood cell count, white blood cell count and platelet count. The machine uses a small sample of the patient's blood, which is then placed into special tubes and analyzed. The results of the analysis are then displayed on a screen for the doctor to review. The CBC machine is an important tool for diagnosing various conditions, such as anemia, infection and leukemia. It can also help to monitor a patient's response to treatment.

WE SHOW 4 SCENARIOS LEADING TO THE MOST EFFICIENT ARCHITECTURE
Qui vengono usati I metadati
Tool per match-mapping definiti a priori
N^2 conversion tools
Ontologie (lat, latitude, lt) hardcoded
Tanti formati di dati ma chissenefrega
Discovery e selction più semplice
- Non fa uso di metadata
Usa solo files
Abbiamo il broker
Abbiamo l’utente chiede dati da una zona
Il broker legge tutti I file, estrapola le info di interesse, vede se matchano con la richiesta
Converte tutti I dati
PER CONVERTIRE c’è bisogno di un match-mapping fatto a priori
