- PROGRAM DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR This year’s winner of the 2006 Program Director of the Year Award, sponsored by Bell Helicopter, A Textron Company is Paul Davenport, RN/EMT-P, MBA,CMTE in recognition of his superior service as Program Director of Carilion Patient Transportation Services Carilion Lifeguard 10 & 11. Paul, can you please join us here at the front of the room to receive this award. While Paul is coming to the front of the room, let me tell you a little bit about why Paul was chosen for this award. In the nomination submitted on behalf of Paul, his staff told us that: Since his joining the program as Program Director in 2003, Paul’s visionary leadership has enabled the program’s expansion in the scope and role. Additionally, various functions within the program, such as safety, marketing, customer service, education and fiscal viability, have experienced significant growth as well. Paul has played a leadership role in community education efforts, including making multiple presentations at AMTC, serving as an instructor at MTLI, directing the initiative for the first annual Starpoints, an EMS and critical care nursing educational conference, and teaching as well as sponsoring a number of NAACS Communicator Training courses. Paul lead the program’s initiative to develop an on-line didactic education program that is coupled with clinical rotations, simulator training and post-training testing. Paul’s leadership has given Carilion Life-Guard the opportunity to assume administration of a DMV grant focused on injury prevention for teenage youth. For all these reasons and more, AAMS is proud to present Paul Davenport with the AAMS Program Director of the Year Award.
