Melissa is a type of monkey that lives in groups of 10-50 in the forests and trees of South America, Africa, and Asia. They eat fruits, flowers, seeds, roots, insects, birds' eggs, and young birds. Melissa monkeys communicate through howling, clucking and groom each other for 3-4 hours per day. Female Melissa monkeys care for babies clinging to their bellies for up to 4 years. Groups are made up of females, teenagers, and males only joining to mate. Melissa monkeys have long, flexible tails and live up to 15 years.
