MediaEvaluation
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Our media product follows the typical conventions that a normal rock/punk band would have ,as we have tried to keep it simple and have our video have a narrative storyline that shows us a guy who is reminiscing the times he had with his girlfriend before she died, and also a performance base part of the video where the band are playing the song, to keep the conventions of the band we lots of quick cuts, close ups of the band members playing their instruments and singing. These are typical in the rock/punk music videos, to make sure we did this we have to research into different types of bands and how their videos follow the conventions, we also looked into magazines so that our ancillary tasks looked as though they could be passed off as if they were real. Everything that we did throughout the product was
How effective is the combination of your main product and your ancillary texts? Our ancillary tasks were an effective combination with our music video, we used colour like reds and oranges to make these work together, this is because the band we made our video on is called Yellowcard and the song was Ocean avenue. The band is from the coasts of America so we thought that these colours would work well with the sunsets that they have there. We had a picture of a sunset that had been taken from one of Sams holidays, which we used for our album cover. We think that these things would help to promote the band much better. Both the music video and album cover help to magazine advert fit in very well promoting the band.
What have you learnt from your audience feed back?Once we had finished our first daft we showed our video to our class, we had mainly positive feedback from the class the main things were that our performance parts (band scenes) need to have a few more dynamic shots through the band and also we didn't have enough close ups of the band members playing the instruments, another was to change the bedroom scene we were told that it was too old fashion and didn't fit in with the stereotypical teenagers that we had in the narrative parts. Once we knew what we needed to change it didn't take us long to make the changes to the video, for our final draft.
How did you use your media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? In my A2 course work I have used different technologies to create the overall final product with my group, I have used blogger which had created a blog in which I have uploaded everything that I and the group have researched, there are pictures of locations where we have filmed, props that we used, presentations and videos for the textual analysis. We used a high definition Sony camera to film with, we used a tri pod to keep our shots steady. We then used an Apple MacBook Pro to upload and edit the video, we used software's like Final Cut Express to edit what we filmed, live type to create texts to put I the video, Adobe Photoshop to create our album cover and magazine advert and finally the grab programme that captures screen shots for the album cover.
