2. Who are The Apocalipsticks (Performance part):
When I was thinking about the name to the fictional band, I have made a close compound word:
Apocalipsticks. It is originated by the nouns: apocalypse and lipsticks. The noun โapocalypseโ is associated with
damage/destruction. I would like to represent this through the destruction of patterns, stereotypes and archetypes. I
have chosen as well lipsticks to be the main motif of my band, because of its denotation. Lipsticks are usually
associated with the female empower, but on this case this will not be my main focus, I would like to bring to this
feeling to my target audience. To give the chance to them to feel this power and confidence when we(women) use
them.
When I was designing my band's logo I have chose the contrast between red and black. These two colours
are usually associated with power which will make my target audience feel empowered. The colour black also has
connotations with rebellion and strength which are themes I would like to associate with my band. I included red as
well as it is not only a colour associated with strength and power which is also known as a very emotionally intense
colour. Seeing red is proven to increase respiration and heart rate which will make my audience feel energized and
upbeat. I hope this will make my band memorable
3. Inspiration to the music video concept (Narrative
part):
During the narrative part of my music video, I would like to make the young part of the target audience identify
themselves with the protagonist. Although it is a hyperbolic representation of atypical teenager from the contemporary
times. May this will make them active and start to think about the critique that I am trying to recreate. Originally this song
criticises the post 9/11 United States when the politicians and media were telling the American citizens what to do, what
to buy, what to believe. I would be an hypocritical to specify this critique to only them, but it is to everyone who lives in the
21st Century. It is recognisable the benefits and disadvantages of this new technologies, making our lives easier and
practical in many ways. On the other hand, it makes the society shallower and pretending more than ever, especially in the
internet and social media. The growth of people sharing moments virtually instead of enjoy intensely with people that they
love. The easy access to the world in our pockets by one touch. The people choosing their own mobile phones instead of
other human beings. The continuous increase of downloads in editing apps to look better in a picture, fits in a beauty
pattern and consequently gain more likes in a photo. Even worst, when people are showing fake happiness or
relationships. People being aggressive to other without any compassion or empathy with them, when they are hiding
themselves in an anonymous profiles. Those are factors to be worried, it is crazy, how people currently value more
technology instead of real life experiences, feelings and people. This contemporary addiction is linked to Baudrillard,
because the society is getting addicted to this shallow values in a way that social media is becoming our hyperreality and
we are living in a world of simulacra, which links as well with the Allegory of the Cave by Plato.
