- 2. American Gangster… 2.00 From analysing this film opening I have learned that the title are almost always black and white and look old/smart to fit in with the genre. Titles of the names last around 3 seconds and the title of the film a bit longer. There is always use of non-diegetic music and also some diegetic as well. The voice over works well because it gives the audience a bit of a lead on what's going on or what has happened. Most of the scenes have low lighting or a dark tint on them to make it look more dramatic and create an atmosphere related to things that will happen. Kind of like pathetic fallacy.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels… From analysing this opening I have found that using a voice over and freeze frame is good because it gives the audience a chance to think about what is going on. Also the title are fairly quick lasting only 3 seconds. There is a lot of quick cuts between different shots which keeps the scene going at a fast pace. The use of slow motion can be good so that you keep the scene fitted to the non diegetic music or to let the voice over carry on.
- 4. Goodfellas… I have learnt that there is often a lot of titles of many different actors and directors when it is a big film. The titles only last 3-5 seconds. The most common shot in the opening is probably a mid shot or close up so that we can get to know the characters. There is also a variety of other good shots like longshots/establishing to show where the scene is. This film has low lighting most of the time to fit into the dark work they do and also because it might be set in the old days.
