LOCATION           HAZARD                           AVOIDANCE
Aaron’s            Slamming door.                   The door will be slammed as Callum the main
Bedroom.                                            character walks out of the bedroom. The action of
the door slamming needs to be emphasised for
the scene so we need to make sure no body parts
are in the way such as feet or fingers in between
the door and the door frame. Once these have
been taken care of the shot will be fine.
Aaron’s Stairs.    Running down the stairs.         Running down the stairs is en everyday action so
this won’t be a problem we need to target.
However we need to make sure there is nothing
sticking out or obstructing him which could cause
him to trip. We can do this by simply walking up
and down the stairs ourselves and clearing it of
any obstruction if there is one.
Rawtenstall car    Other cars and pedestrians.      Whilst in the car park we have to avoid other cars
park.                                               which may be turning in to park and maybe
reversing out of car parking spaces. To do this we
can use a spot to check for us and avoid filming
scenes near other cars and pedestrians. We also
want to be wary of our presence as other people
may be intimidated by us, so we do not use
weapons in such public scenes whether they are
                                                    replicas or not.
Rawtenstall        Crossing the road from the       There was a relatively busy main road which
market.            car park to the market stall.    linked the car park to the market stall we were
using to film. We had to be very wary of other
drivers and potential traffic whilst crossing the
road. We only had to cross the road once so we
aimed to get it done first try as this was the most
dangerous scene. We had two people checking
for a clear path and this is what guided us and
kept the scene safe. Again we didn’t put members
of the public in danger by randomly darting into
the road or carrying and form of weapons, we
made it so it was just like an everyday pedestrian
running across the road safely. We also abided
                                                    road safety laws.
Rawtenstall        Public protection and joining    In this scene we had to be aware of the general
market.            of characters.                   public who were around most of the time. The
area was relatively full and there was always
someone in sight. This meant we could not use
weapons in public whether they were fake or not
because this would not be obvious to anyone who
was not uninvolved in the production. This may
have caused fear to some people and raised
awareness which could have led to the
involvement of police or other people who could
                                                    have been offended.

Rawtenstall        The market stall itself and      The actual market stall itself had sharp edges so
market.            potential hazardous things       this was also made aware of and avoided. Screws
around it, such as screws and    and poles are also used to pitch a market stall so
poles.                           we made sure that there was nothing around
obstructing us such as screws and nails we could
stand on and the poles used where securely
                                                    fastened by screws.
Rawtenstall        Callum being ‘captured’.         When Callum, the main character, was ‘attacked’
market.                                             later on in the scene, we made sure that when
the two involved fell, they fell together which
broke the fall and no pain was caused. We also
had to drag a character and push him into a car,
to make this safe we made sure the back of his
heels (protected by shoes) were the only contact
between the character and floor, and the car door
was open as wide as it could and all seats down so
he could comfortably fall and sit in the foot‐well.
We also used external props such as padded coats
to make sure no pain was caused when characters
                                                    fell.
Aaron’s Garage.    Smoke & Lamp.                    We used smoke to create a sinister effect in the
garage seen and the smoke covers the face of
Callum. We made sure Callum’s eyes were
covered and there was no way the smoke could
get into his eyes. The scene is also short so he
doesn’t have time to breathe in any smoke from
the surrounding room. The lamp he is holding
lights up his face to make it more emphasised on
his uncomfort. As light bulbs can get hot, we
made sure it was nowhere near his skin or had
potential to burn him. The lamp also had a wire
and extension lead to plug it in so we taped this
down so no one could trip over it and made all
people involved aware of its presence.
Aaron’s Garage.    Pasting Table.                   The pasting table is used for the table connecting
the victim to the culprit. The pasting table was
relatively weak and flimsy so we made sure it was
as sturdy as possible to avoid it collapsing and
hurting anyone. Sharp edges were also covered
up by a table cloth to avoid injury.
Aaron’s Garage.    Be wary of any pieces of         These are common things to have in a garage.
hardware such as screws and      Aaron’s garage is also used to maintain cars for
tools as well as gardening       building things so we made sure we were aware
equipment.    of potential hazardous objects lying around on
the floor. This is things such as screws and nails
which could be stood on and cause injury. The
first stage of avoiding this was to give the garage
a good sweep and three people double checked
the surface to make sure it was safe. As people
were also made aware of the issue they could
look out for them at all times.

  • 1. LOCATION  HAZARD  AVOIDANCE  Aaron’s  Slamming door.  The door will be slammed as Callum the main  Bedroom.  character walks out of the bedroom. The action of  the door slamming needs to be emphasised for  the scene so we need to make sure no body parts  are in the way such as feet or fingers in between  the door and the door frame. Once these have  been taken care of the shot will be fine.  Aaron’s Stairs.  Running down the stairs.  Running down the stairs is en everyday action so  this won’t be a problem we need to target.  However we need to make sure there is nothing  sticking out or obstructing him which could cause  him to trip. We can do this by simply walking up  and down the stairs ourselves and clearing it of  any obstruction if there is one.   Rawtenstall car  Other cars and pedestrians.  Whilst in the car park we have to avoid other cars  park.  which may be turning in to park and maybe  reversing out of car parking spaces. To do this we  can use a spot to check for us and avoid filming  scenes near other cars and pedestrians. We also  want to be wary of our presence as other people  may be intimidated by us, so we do not use  weapons in such public scenes whether they are  replicas or not.   Rawtenstall  Crossing the road from the  There was a relatively busy main road which  market.  car park to the market stall.  linked the car park to the market stall we were  using to film. We had to be very wary of other  drivers and potential traffic whilst crossing the  road. We only had to cross the road once so we  aimed to get it done first try as this was the most  dangerous scene. We had two people checking  for a clear path and this is what guided us and  kept the scene safe. Again we didn’t put members  of the public in danger by randomly darting into  the road or carrying and form of weapons, we  made it so it was just like an everyday pedestrian  running across the road safely. We also abided  road safety laws.  Rawtenstall  Public protection and joining  In this scene we had to be aware of the general  market.  of characters.  public who were around most of the time. The  area was relatively full and there was always  someone in sight. This meant we could not use  weapons in public whether they were fake or not  because this would not be obvious to anyone who  was not uninvolved in the production. This may  have caused fear to some people and raised
  • 2. awareness which could have led to the  involvement of police or other people who could  have been offended.     Rawtenstall  The market stall itself and  The actual market stall itself had sharp edges so  market.  potential hazardous things  this was also made aware of and avoided. Screws  around it, such as screws and  and poles are also used to pitch a market stall so  poles.  we made sure that there was nothing around  obstructing us such as screws and nails we could  stand on and the poles used where securely  fastened by screws.  Rawtenstall  Callum being ‘captured’.  When Callum, the main character, was ‘attacked’  market.  later on in the scene, we made sure that when  the two involved fell, they fell together which  broke the fall and no pain was caused. We also  had to drag a character and push him into a car,  to make this safe we made sure the back of his  heels (protected by shoes) were the only contact  between the character and floor, and the car door  was open as wide as it could and all seats down so  he could comfortably fall and sit in the foot‐well.  We also used external props such as padded coats  to make sure no pain was caused when characters  fell.  Aaron’s Garage.  Smoke & Lamp.  We used smoke to create a sinister effect in the  garage seen and the smoke covers the face of  Callum. We made sure Callum’s eyes were  covered and there was no way the smoke could  get into his eyes. The scene is also short so he  doesn’t have time to breathe in any smoke from  the surrounding room. The lamp he is holding  lights up his face to make it more emphasised on  his uncomfort. As light bulbs can get hot, we  made sure it was nowhere near his skin or had  potential to burn him. The lamp also had a wire  and extension lead to plug it in so we taped this  down so no one could trip over it and made all  people involved aware of its presence.   Aaron’s Garage.  Pasting Table.  The pasting table is used for the table connecting  the victim to the culprit. The pasting table was  relatively weak and flimsy so we made sure it was  as sturdy as possible to avoid it collapsing and  hurting anyone. Sharp edges were also covered  up by a table cloth to avoid injury.  Aaron’s Garage.  Be wary of any pieces of  These are common things to have in a garage.  hardware such as screws and  Aaron’s garage is also used to maintain cars for  tools as well as gardening  building things so we made sure we were aware
  • 3. equipment.  of potential hazardous objects lying around on  the floor. This is things such as screws and nails  which could be stood on and cause injury. The  first stage of avoiding this was to give the garage  a good sweep and three people double checked  the surface to make sure it was safe. As people  were also made aware of the issue they could  look out for them at all times.
