Behaviorism is a learning theory that states learning is based on objective rewards, punishments, and stimuli in the environment with no consideration of internal mental states. It includes classical and operant conditioning. Key theorists were Ivan Pavlov who studied classical conditioning in dogs and B.F. Skinner who developed operant conditioning focusing on reinforcement. In classrooms, behaviorism is used through rewarding positive behaviors, using punishments to stop negative behaviors, and stimuli to condition student responses.

Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry tells the story of Kira, who is left alone with a twisted leg after her mother dies. When some women try to take her land, Kira and Vandara go to trial. Though Kira wins, Vandara gets her land. Kira stays in the Council of Edifice and begins working on a singer's robe, needing blue thread. Her friend Matt brings blue thread and Kira's long-lost father, who explains her past and offers her a new home, which Kira decides to accept.

This document discusses different types of geometrical transformations including translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations. It provides examples and notations for transformations and notes that dilation is not an isometric transformation. Reflections are further categorized by the line they are reflected across such as the x-axis, y-axis, lines of the form y=x, y=-x, y=k, x=k, and y=mx+c. Two examples of finding the line of reflection are given when points are mapped before and after a reflection.
This document discusses different types of geometric transformations including translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations. It provides examples and notations for each type of transformation. Translations involve sliding an object along a vector, reflections involve flipping an object across a line, rotations involve turning an object around a fixed point, and dilations involve changing the size of an object. The document also discusses isometric transformations, lines of reflection, and applications of transformations including tessellations. Examples are provided to demonstrate different transformations and how to find equations of lines of reflection.
This document discusses sets and Venn diagrams. It defines what a set is and provides examples of sets. It describes subsets and operations that can be performed on sets such as intersection, union, complement, and difference. It explains Venn diagrams and how they are used to represent relationships between sets such as disjoint, overlapping, union, and intersection. Examples are provided to demonstrate operations on sets and drawing Venn diagrams.
Polygons are 2D shapes with multiple straight sides and angles. They are closed figures made of n line segments connected at their endpoints. Key parts of polygons include vertices (where lines meet), edges (the line segments), interior angles, and exterior angles. There are different types of polygons categorized by the number of sides, such as triangles (3 sides), quadrilaterals (4 sides), pentagons (5 sides), and polygons with 6 or more sides. Special polygons have names corresponding to their number of sides, such as triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, etc. Triangles specifically are three-sided polygons where the sum of the interior angles is always 180 degrees.
The document discusses one-to-one and onto linear transformations. It states that a transformation T is one-to-one if each b in the codomain is the image of at most one x in the domain. T is one-to-one if the columns of its matrix A are linearly independent. T is onto if each b in the codomain is the image of at least one x in the domain, meaning the columns of A span the codomain. Examples are provided to illustrate one-to-one and onto transformations along with references to video explanations.
This document discusses various types of linear transformations, including rotations, reflections, shears, dilations, projections, and their representations as matrices. It provides examples of transforming lines and triangles under rotations of different angles. Linear transformations are important in computer graphics for modifying objects by changing their position, size, orientation or shape. Matrix representations allow linear transformations to be described geometrically.

This document provides an overview of prime numbers and where they appear frequently in nature, human anatomy, and religious practices. It notes that prime numbers appear in many aspects of human anatomy like fingers, toes, bones, and ribs. Religious rituals also incorporate prime numbers, such as the five pillars of Islam, praying five times daily, and reciting dhikr seven times. Prime numbers are even found in the seven layers of the atmosphere and seven seas. Overall, the document illustrates how prime numbers pervade both the human body and spiritual practices.
This document discusses fractions, decimals, percentages, and their conversions. It provides examples of changing fractions to decimals and percentages, including mixed numbers and improper fractions. It then discusses applications of percentages, including problems involving finding percentages of numbers and original values given a percentage discount or increase. The document aims to teach learners how to work with fractions, decimals, and percentages through examples and exercises involving their conversions and applications.
This document provides an overview of different number systems:
1) It begins with an explanation of natural numbers, whole numbers, integers, rational numbers, and irrational numbers.
2) Rational numbers are defined as numbers that can be represented as fractions, while irrational numbers are non-repeating and non-terminating decimals.
3) The real number system is then introduced as the collection of all rational and irrational numbers.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
