MCUrgent is a social media application used by Morris County, NJ to share official emergency information across multiple jurisdictions during large-scale emergencies. It utilizes Twitter and Facebook to allow the county's 39 towns to post to a single feed. MCUrgent was created to provide timely, accessible emergency updates to residents across devices even without power. During storms in 2010 and Hurricane Irene in 2011, MCUrgent saw significantly more traffic than individual town websites and social media, demonstrating its effectiveness in emergency communication.
