MCT Brattberg Multi Cable Transit system provides a tested and certified seal that protects human lives and equipment against hazards and harsh environments. MCT Brattberg cable transits and pipe penetration seals are installed in walls and floors to maintain fire and water integrity.
The MCT Brattberg cable transit system is based on a simple idea consisting of two components - a frame and packing blocks. The cable duct or pipe seal is achieved when the packing blocks are pressed together around cables and pipes in a frame.
The heart of the MCT Brattberg cable transit system is "Lycron" rubber material from which the insert blocks are made. It is extremely resistant to fire and pressure changes, the cable transits also withstand smoke, extreme temperature changes, vibration, damaging insects, chemicals and ageing.
MCT Brattberg - SR Cable Transit & Pipe Seals
SR Gland is designed to seal cables and pipes between 4-100 mm diameter and can be supplied cut to allow pre-terminated cable/pipe to be installed. SR Glands are supplied with a centre core providing a seal prior to cable installation. SR cable and pipe seals will provide an effective barrier against fire, water, dust, vermin. When cable is inserted into the SR gland simply tighten the compression bolts equally until the cable/pipe is secure.
MCT Brattberg cable and pipe transits are designed and manufactured to provide maximum benefits.

MCT Brattberg cable transits are tested against fire resistance to both A and H classification.
Cable Transit Fire Test Procedure
The temperature regime in the furnace during an A-class fire is similar to that of a cellulose fire and during an H-class fire similar to that of an oil fire. In a H-class fire the increase in temperature is much faster than that of an A-class fire. The cable penetration must be tested both vertically and horizontally in order to be approved for general usage by the leading certifying authorities.
Location of Thermocouples
The temperature is constantly measured at different points on the cables and on the face of the cable or pipe penetration during the fire test. The quantity of thermocouples, type and position on the test specimen is regulated by the standards.
Cable Transit Integrity
The integrity of the cable penetration must be maintained throughout the test period (A-class 60 minutes, H-class 120 minutes). The occurrence of flaming on the unexposed face or ignition of a cotton wool pad applied to any gap that appears in the test specimen constitutes a loss of cable transit integrity.
Cable Transit Insulation
The limit of temperature increase on the non fire side of the penetration is stipulated in EN1366-3 or IMO A754 (18). The maximum acceptable temperature increase at any point on the cable or pipe penetration during the test is 180 degrees celsius. An approved fire test gives the cable or pipe penetration a classification where the fire is specified (a-H-class fire) and the time for which the penetration was able to resist the fire in respect of the maximum allowed temperature increase on the non fire side of the penetration (180 degrees celsius). For example, a cable or pipe penetration that withstands an H-class fire for 120 minutes is classed as H120 and a penetration that withstands an A-class fire for 60 minutes is classed A60.

CSD Rise Multi Cable & Pipe Sealing System - Features :
Simple and effective : RISE Duct Seals are a multi-cable and pipe transit sealing system providing an effective and simple solution to all fire, gas and water tight duct sealing requirements.
Few Components : RISE Duct Seals system consist of only two components - 1) rubber insert sleeves used to guarantee cable separation and as a backing for the sealant layer, 2) FIWA sealant, a high quality silicone based, fire resistant, water repellent sealant which makes the duct seal system quick and easy to install.
Water and Gas Tight : RISE Duct Seals provide high elasticity and bonding strength which resists movement, shock and vibration providing a stable duct seal. RISE rubber insert sleeves are applied to provide cable separation and a backing for the application of the FIWA sealant. 60mm RISE sleeves are adequate for water and gas tight duct sealing.
Fire, Water and Gas Tight : RISE Duct Seals using rubber insert sleeves at a length of 160mm and applying FIWA sealant to both faces of the opening will provide a fire tight duct seal.
Flexible and Versatile : RISE Duct Seals can be used in vertical and horizontal ducts. RISE rubber insert sleeves cling to the cables without sliding down and falling out of the penetration. The high adhesion and viscosity of the duct sealant means it will not run or drip when applied overhead.
Adding and Removing Cables : RISE Duct Seals allow the installing of additional cables - it is a simple matter of coring into the soft rubber of the sealant to a depth of 20mm and passing the additional cables through the opening created. The duct sealant is then applied around the new cable to re-seal - there is no need to disassemble the transit system.
MCT Brattberg endeavourers to protect people and property through the design, development and manufacture of high-performance cable and pipe transits. These are used in high-risk maritime, offshore and land-based environments to minimize danger by preventing the spread of fire, water, gas, chemicals and other hazards substances.
Putting safety first lies at the heart of all MCT Brattberg business activities.

Summary presentation from a white paper delivered to PCIC Middle East February 2014, introducing engineering design methods for cable transit devices (MCT's), best practices for use of these solutions and engineering work process.
This document summarizes research on properly grounding the frames of multi-cable transits (MCTs) used to transfer cabling between sealed compartments. MCTs provide electromagnetic shielding by connecting cable shields to a metallic frame. The study examines MCT applications in buildings where full metal bulkheads are not available for mounting frames. Test results show that grounding the frame is important for shielding performance. Directly grounding the frame via a conducting beam provided over 40dB of attenuation, while grounding with a 20cm wire significantly reduced attenuation to around 20dB. Proper grounding of MCT frames is critical for electromagnetic shielding in applications without full metal bulkheads.
