19 September 2016
Dear Business Partner and Friends,
As many people know, wherever Marines are located on the Marine Corps Birthday they stop
and honor those who have served in our uniform, those who currently serve, and those who will
serve in the future. Where possible we hold a Marine Corps Birthday Ball to celebrate the rich
history of the Marine Corps honoring those who have lost their lives in service to this great
nation. This is our 241st
year we will be hosting the first Collin County Marine Corps League
Birthday Ball. This will be the first of many great Marine Corps Birthday Ball celebrations in
Collin County. We invite you to get involved in the tradition and partner with us, NOW!
I am happy to announce the L/CPL Jacob D. Hayes detachment of the Marine Corps League is in
full swing now supporting Marines and FMF Corpsmen who have served our country and reside
in Collin County. We are a 501(c)(4) organization that raises money to donate all proceeds to
our warriors in need of our assistance and also providing much needed College scholarships for
dependents of our warriors. Our League Chapter was named in Honor of L/CPL Jacob D. Hayes
who gave his life for his country from injuries received while serving in Operation Iraqi
Freedom.
The Marine Corps League was founded by Major General John A. Lejeune, in 1923 and
chartered by an Act of Congress on August 4, 1937. Its membership of nearly 56,000 is
comprised of honorably discharged, active duty and Reserve Marines with 90 days of service or
more, and retired Marines along with FMF Corpsmen. It includes officers, enlisted, male and
female members. The League is classified as a veteran/military service organization and was
formed for the purposes of promoting the interests of the U.S. Marine Corps; to provide
camaraderie and assistance to Marine and FMF Corpsmen, as well as their widows and orphans;
and to preserve the traditions of the U.S. Marine Corps. It is not for profit organization within
the provisions of Internal Revenue Service Code 501(c)(4), with a special group exemption letter
which allows for contributions to the Marine Corps League, its Auxiliary and subsidiary units, to
be tax deductible by the donor.
We are now ready to host the first Marine Corps League Birthday Ball in honor of the Marine
Corps 241st
Birthday. Our Birthday Ball will commence at 1800 on 5 November 2016 at the
