Nokia was once the dominant mobile phone company but lost significant market share as smartphones became popular. The document analyzes reasons for Nokia's decline, including complacency, lack of innovation in transitioning from Symbian to Windows, and not creating user-friendly smartphones like Apple. In contrast, Samsung embraced Android, launched iPhone-like smartphones for different segments, and saw large gains in market share over Nokia from 2010 to 2012. The SWOT analysis identifies strengths like experience but also weaknesses like less stylish low-cost phones that lacked the appeal of competitors' products.
Nokia was once the dominant mobile phone manufacturer, holding over 30% of the global market share. However, its market share dropped below 30% in 2011 as it struggled to compete with smartphones running Android and iOS that had more advanced apps and processors. In an attempt to turn things around, in 2011 Nokia partnered with Microsoft to use the Windows Phone platform for future devices. However, Nokia remained dependent on Microsoft and faced strong competition from Apple and Google, making a full recovery difficult. The partnership aimed to combine Nokia's manufacturing and distribution with Microsoft's software expertise to build a new mobile ecosystem.
This document summarizes the history and evolution of Nokia Corporation from 1865 to 2012. It discusses key details about Nokia's leadership, finances, and operations. It also examines Nokia's decline in the smartphone market due to factors like lack of innovation, inadequate assessment of shifting consumer demands towards touchscreen smartphones, and failure to adopt the Android operating system in a timely manner. The document analyzes Nokia's strengths as well as changes it needs to make to its strategy in order to compete effectively in the future.
Nokia began in the late 19th century making paper and rubber products, eventually expanding into cable, electronics, and telecommunications. It launched the first international cellular network in 1981 and helped establish the GSM standard in 1987. Nokia dominated the mobile phone market in the late 1990s and early 2000s. However, it failed to keep up with smartphone innovation from Apple and Google. After several leadership and strategy changes, Nokia's market share declined dramatically and it sold its mobile phone business to Microsoft in 2013.
This document discusses the history and strategies of Samsung Electronics. It summarizes that Samsung started in semiconductors and wafer production, growing significantly through acquisitions and developing 8-inch wafer technology. Though it faced industry crises, Samsung survived through competency and branding. Its low-cost strategy achieved large market share in DRAM. Going forward, Samsung aims to strengthen its brand and focus on differentiated flash memory while preparing for Chinese competition through global expansion and continued R&D investment.

This document discusses how technology has negatively impacted communication. It argues that technologies like social media, texting, and smartphones have replaced face-to-face interaction and harmed people's social skills. While online communication provides benefits like low-cost long-distance contact, overuse of these technologies isolates people and prevents meaningful in-person exchanges of ideas and emotions. The document warns that if online communication replaced real-world interaction entirely, it could seriously damage society.

The document summarizes the process by which Emil Fischer determined the structure of glucose in the late 19th century. [1] Glucose has 4 chiral centers, allowing for 16 possible stereoisomers. [2] Through oxidation and degradation experiments, Fischer was able to determine the stereochemistry at carbons 3, 4, and 5, leaving only carbon 2 undefined. [3] An experiment interchanging end groups showed that glucose has structure A, with stereochemistry now fully characterized.
Aristotle was a Greek philosopher born in 384 BC in Stagira, Chalcidice. He was a student of Plato and later taught Alexander the Great. Aristotle is considered one of the most important founding figures of Western philosophy. He believed in using empirical evidence and facts to understand the natural world and that nature is ordered according to consistent discoverable laws. Aristotle developed the concept of four causes to explain change - the material, formal, efficient, and final cause. He also studied different aspects of soul and form and how they relate to matter in the natural world.
The document summarizes Federalist No. 10 by James Madison from 1787 arguing for ratification of the U.S. Constitution. Madison asserts that one of the key advantages of a strong central government is its ability to control the negative effects of factionalism. He defines a faction as a group united around a particular interest or belief. Madison argues that a representative democracy can defeat factional views through regular votes, preventing obstructions of administration. By ensuring the majority cannot be outnumbered, a central government can control the effects of factionalism and prevent the abuse of power by elites to oppress others for their own benefit.

This document provides an overview of wound healing, its functions, stages, mechanisms, factors affecting it, and complications.
A wound is a break in the integrity of the skin or tissues, which may be associated with disruption of the structure and function.
Healing is the bodyโs response to injury in an attempt to restore normal structure and functions.
Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
Complications of wound healing like infection, hyperpigmentation of scar, contractures, and keloid formation.
