McDonald's is an American fast food company founded in 1940 in California by Richard and Maurice McDonald with a mission "To be our customers' favorite place and way to eat and drink." It now serves around 69 million customers daily across over 37,855 outlets in 100 countries, employing 1.7 million people. McDonald's generates most of its revenue from rent, royalties and franchise fees as well as owned restaurant sales, totaling $19.21 billion in 2020.
