This week in Mrs. Roussell's classroom, students will read poems and work on fluency, write their own poetry books, use polygons to create Freedom Quilts as part of a Civil War unit, and have a wax museum about historical figures. Parents should check the class blog and their child's assignment book. Important upcoming events include the wax museum on May 11th, a skills day, a field trip for perfect attendance, and the last day of school on May 26th.

This Week’s Assignments
Reading –Students will be reading poems. We will be working on fluency and
reading with expression.
Writing – We will continue working on a poetry unit and the students will be writing
their very own poetry book.
Math – We will be working with Freedom Quilts to follow our Civil War unit in social
studies. Students will be using polygons to create Freedom Quilts.
Social Studies – We will have our Wax Museum on Tuesday and Wednesday. We
are going to attempt starting an Ecosystem Unit in Science.

1. Remember to check the blog for new pictures and updates.
2. Check your child’s assignment book nightly and ask them about their day at
school.

Dress rehersal: May 10th (3rd comes to view the wax museum 2:45 – 3:15)
Actual Wax Museum: May 11th (Parents and family are invited 2:45 – 3:15)

PBS Cook-Out: May 25th
Last Day of School: May 26th (Grade cards go home)
