Slide 1: Title: Exploring the Mindfulness: Understanding Its Benefits
Slide 2: Introduction to Mindfulness
Mindfulness, defined as the conscious, non-judgmental observation of the present moment, has deep roots in Buddhist meditation practice but has gained significant popularity in the Western world in recent years. In today's society, filled with distractions and constant stimuli, mindfulness offers a valuable tool for regaining inner peace and reconnecting with our true selves. By cultivating mindfulness, we can develop a heightened awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and surroundings, leading to a greater sense of clarity and presence in our daily lives.
Slide 3: Benefits of Mindfulness for Mental Well-being
Practicing mindfulness can help reduce stress and anxiety levels, improving overall quality of life.
Mindfulness increases awareness of our emotions and teaches us to manage them better, leading to improved mood.
Regular mindfulness practice can improve our ability to concentrate and focus our attention on the present moment.
Slide 4: Benefits of Mindfulness for Physical Health
Research has shown that practicing mindfulness can contribute to lowering blood pressure, which is beneficial for heart health.
Regular meditation and mindfulness practice can strengthen the immune system, aiding the body in fighting infections.
Mindfulness may help reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and obesity by reducing stress and improving overall lifestyle habits.
Slide 5: Impact of Mindfulness on Relationships
Mindfulness can help us better understand others and improve communication, leading to healthier relationships.
By focusing on the present moment and being fully attentive, mindfulness helps build stronger and more authentic connections with others.
Mindfulness teaches us how to be present for others in difficult times, leading to increased compassion and understanding.
Slide 6: Mindfulness Techniques and Practices
Focusing on the breath and mindful breathing can be a simple way to enter a state of mindfulness.
Body scan meditation involves focusing on different parts of the body, paying attention to any sensations and feelings.
Practicing mindful walking and eating involves consciously focusing on each step or bite, with full attention to sensory experiences.
Slide 7: Incorporating Mindfulness into Daily Life
You can practice mindfulness in everyday activities such as washing dishes or taking a walk in the park.
Adding mindfulness practice to daily routines can help increase awareness and presence.
Mindfulness helps us become more aware of our needs and better manage our time, leading to balance and harmony in life.
Slide 8: Summary: Embracing Mindfulness for Full Living
Mindfulness can bring numerous benefits for physical and mental health.
Regular mindfulness practice can help achieve a fuller and more satisfying life.
Mindfulness has the power to change our perspective and way of perceiving the world, leading to deeper se
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Jesus into his life. I carefully explained that Jesus
now lived in his heart.
• Several days later, he was sitting at the table with
his head down, holding open the neck of his T-
shirt, speaking very quietly. I asked what he was
doing and he told me,
• "Just talking to Jesus.“
23. Matthew 7:7, Just Say No To The

• This verse is often twisted into what is referred to
as the “Prosperity Gospel.” No one can

• Believers can “Ask…
seek, and…knock”
because of Christ.

finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
• Psalm 53:2 God has looked down from heaven upon the sons of

passed and no one came to get her. Finally at 12:30, the
surgeon arrived at her room. Knowing my husband is a minister,
the doctor asked us if many people were praying for this
surgery.

• With a smile, he shot back, "Thanks. That surgery went very
well."

• “The image of two paths was common in
Judaism. Sometimes the analogy was of
separate roads leading in opposite directions -
to paradise or to hell. At other times a narrow
path of life's hardships was pictured as
ultimately leading to a broad path of eternal
blessing.” Archaeological Study Bible page 1570

• Dave Hunt warns; “Paul also warned about a false
Jesus, a false Christ, another Jesus, another
Christ, and there are positive confession teachers
today who claim that they are Christ and that
they can do everything Jesus did—that they’re
just like Jesus on this earth. But Morris Cerullo
goes maybe a little bit farther. He says, “When
you look at me, you’re not looking at Morris
Cerullo; you’re looking at God !” Wow! What
blasphemy. But this is part of the last days
deception that Jesus warned about....

man of many more years of powerful ministry
that God had for him, and so forth. Three days
later, he died.
45. • THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
• Pray with the right motives.
•
MINI BIBLE STUDY FOR THE DAY
• Most of us have read the verses about answered prayer like "If you ask Me
anything in My name, I will do it" (John 14:14, 16:23) and Jesus
proclaiming that anything we ask, "believing," it will be given to us
(Matthew 21:22; John 14:14; Luke 11:9). There's also the verse that if any
two agree on earth, about anything, it will be done.
• Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that
they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. —
Matthew 18:19Sadly, too many Christians think they can "claim" a house
or a car or a situation by "believing" that they can ask God to give it to
them or by "agreeing" with another that they desire a certain situation.
This is a form of what is referred to as the "prosperity doctrine"—which is
simply twisted Scripture from Satan. You can't order God around because if
you could, He wouldn't be God. And you can't take one verse by itself
without considering the other verses discussing the same issue. God does
want to give us good gifts.
• If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how
much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those
who ask Him! —Matthew 7:11If you then, being evil, know how to give
good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give
the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?" —Luke 11:13
• But only if you have the correct motives, and only then if it is according to
His divine will.
46. Matthew 7:13, Sheepfold Gate
• Explorations in Antiquity Center: Sheep From the Goats
• Posted: 30 Nov 2012 06:55 AM PST
• By Dr. David R. Reagan
• Why are the sheep separated from the goats?
• This question was posed to Dr. James Fleming, one of the most knowledgeable teachers of Biblical Archaeology, on our show Christ in Prophecy. Dr. Fleming lived and taught in Israel for
37 years at Jerusalem University College and at the Hebrew University. His first claim to fame is that he discovered the ancient Eastern Gate buried beneath the current one. Dr. Fleming
has walked or motorcycled about every square mile of Israel, and is so familiar with Israel past and present that Israeli tour guides come to him for training.
• He now operates the Explorations in Antiquity Center in LaGrange, Georgia, an interactive museum where people here in the U.S. can experience the life and times of Jesus Christ in the
First Century. It's a fascinating place, and so in this series we're going to tour the facility to glean new insights into the Bible by understanding the manners, customs and times of the
Bible.
•
• Temporary Sheepfold
• Dr. Reagan: Tell me about what this temporary sheepfold is all about.
• Dr. Fleming: Right, when you're grazing overnight you have to have a place to protect the sheep at night. You get sharp sticks or thorns and you have to make an enclosure with a
removable gate. Predators of course feed at night. So, the most dangerous time for the protection of the sheep is at night. You're trying to find a place where there's a few little caves if
you can, particularly because the desert is cold at night and hot in the day. You try to have a sheepfold in the area of your encampment even if you only go part of the year in one location
and then come back to a permanent sheepfold, particularly for the winter.
• A sheepfold needs to be sufficient to keep the sheep in. What happens is not only to keep the sheep in, but it's also to keep the predators out. You have sharp stick pointing out of the
walls at the top. Even though some could jump over the wall, they won't because they know they can't pull the animal out over the sharp sticks.
• Dr. Reagan: This is rather like putting glass on top of the walls like can be seen today in Jerusalem.
• Dr. Fleming: Exactly. The soft underside of the predator doesn't like those spears, so they keep them out.
•
Permanent Sheepfold
• Dr. Reagan: Let's step inside and see what a permanent sheepfold looks like. First of all, why is it divided?
• Dr. Fleming: It is because of the difference between the sheep and the goats. Goats are much more sure footed and need a higher wall. Their wall is higher than the sheep wall. For sheep,
a lower wall is fine. When you come in there is a little slide gate. You separate the sheep from the goats because they'll need a higher and more secure sheepfold.
• Dr. Reagan: In the back it looks like a cave.
• Dr. Fleming: Yes, you have two mangers, one for feeding and one for watering. In Bethlehem it can get to 20 degrees in the winter and 120 in the summer. If you have a cave at least 10
feet deep, it will remain 69 degrees year round. That's the insulation factor. There are also mangers and sheepfolds inside the caves. The earliest traditions from the Second Century AD
and the Gospel of James which didn't make it into the cannon, but it mentions that Jesus was born in a cave. If you were to ask people in Jesus' day where one would most likely to find a
manger, well 90% of the mangers were inside caves again because of the insulation factor.
• Dr. Reagan: I often wondered about that because I'd always heard about a cave being the place of Jesus' birth, but I didn't know why that would have been the reason for using a cave.
• Dr. Fleming: Yes, caves are where you would keep the animals, especially in the fall and winter time. You are going to keep them in there due to the temperature, as well as for the health
of a mother and the new born babe, you see. When there is no place in the guest room, there would still be a constant temperature in a cave for a guest, so caves are good for a mother
and baby as well.
•
In the fourth part of this series with archaeologist Dr. James Fleming at his Explorations in Antiquity Center, we'll glean some biblical insights by learning what life in the First Century was
like when it came to building with stone.
• John 10:1 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber.
• Nehemiah 3:1 Then Eliashib the high priest arose with his brothers the priests and built the Sheep Gate; they consecrated it and hung its doors. They consecrated the wall to the Tower of
the Hundred and the Tower of Hananel. (Nehemiah 3:32 also)
• John 5:2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the sheep gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porticoes.
• Matthew 7:13 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.

Why do you call Me "Lord, Lord," and do not do what I say?
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
• If you are claiming to be a Christian, your word and deed should follow.
MINI BIBLE STUDY FOR THE DAY
• We are amazed at the number of people claiming to be Christians who
unabashedly continue in blatant sin. No, we're not advocating a works
doctrine, but if Jesus is truly in your heart, you will WANT to walk and talk
truth, or be so brokenhearted about your sin that you can hardly function.
• When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away
Through my groaning all day long. —Psalm 32:3 (See also Psalm 38:18 and
51:5)The Bible says the Holy Spirit living in us convicts us of our sin. This is
why when someone continuously talks trashy, it is unlikely that Jesus is
living in their heart:
• If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue

• Matthew 7:13 "Enter through the narrow

narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to
enter and will not be able.

• QUESTION FOR THE DAY
• Dear Compass,
• I recently went to a women's retreat put on by [a large well-known
denomination] where the leading local church official was the speaker. She
distributed a handout with information she had taught before. The
emphasis was on the "Spirit of Sophia," and she had the women praying to
Sophia for wisdom. There were other problem areas in the retreat so I
asked my pastor if he was aware of what she was teaching. He said he
didn't see anything wrong with her teaching and that if I had a question I
should call her myself. To make a long story a bit shorter, we eventually
had a meeting with the Elders, Deacons and this lady Bible teacher who
was a local denominational leader. The meeting was very tense, and she
wouldn't back down. The pastor, Elders, and Deacons basically supported
her and told my husband and me that we would have to agree to disagree.
We resigned from the church but feel like a fish out of water not going to
church. Why is it that churches are afraid to teach truth from the pulpit?!

regard to food or drink.
• THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
• The Bible has a lot to say about judging others.
• MINI BIBLE STUDY FOR THE DAY
• The Bible warns us not to judge others in issues of outward appearances
such as food or drink. You can't say it is wrong to eat pork or meat or to
drink wine because spirituality is an issue of our heart, not of our
stomach.
• Jesus said, ". . . Do you not understand that everything that goes into the
mouth passes into the stomach, and is eliminated? But the things that
proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the
man." — Matthew 15:16-18 We should be careful whom we judge even if
they are wrong:

• Today is February 28, 2013 Verse of the Day -- Titus 2:1
. . . speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.
• THOUGHT FOR THE DAY God wants us to have correct doctrinal stances.
• MINI BIBLE STUDY FOR THE DAY
• One of the most amazing statements Jesus made was that not everyone
who calls Him Lord, speaks in His name, performs miracles, etc., is going to
heaven. There will be multitudes that think they are going to heaven, but
Jesus will say to them on judgment day, "I never knew you, depart." The
difference between those that go to heaven and those that go to hell is
what they are believing or trusting in. Simply stated, their "doctrine." Just
because it's always done that way is not correct doctrine. In fact,
traditions are not worth much. Jesus said:
• In vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men. —
Matthew 15:9 In addition to traditions that are of no use, there are many
false doctrines in the world as well:
• . . . we are no longer to be . . . carried about by every wind of doctrine. —
Ephesians 4:14. . . doctrines of demons. —1 Timothy 4:1
• We are commanded to be "nourished on the words of the faith and of the
sound doctrine" (1 Timothy 4:6). So determining what is sound is one of
our charges as Christians. Opinions don't matter. What you feel doesn't
57. Matthew 7:7-8 Romans 8:11 John 14:26 1 John 2:27
Ephesians 2:12 Psalm 143:8, know the right way
• Today is March 1, 2013 Verse of the Day -- Psalm 143:8. . . Teach me the way in
which I should walk.
• THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
• We don't automatically know the right way.
• MINI BIBLE STUDY FOR THE DAY
• Being born separated from God ("remember that you were at that time separate
from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the
covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world." —Ephesians
2:12) leaves us with a lot of catching up, even after we become Christians. But we
have a great teacher—God the Holy Spirit. In fact, it's not necessary to go to Bible
college to learn biblical truths:
• . . . the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no
need for anyone to teach you, but His anointing teaches you about all things. —
1 John 2:27. . . the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach
you all things. —John 14:26
• Incredibly, the God of the universe, living inside all Christians ("But if the Spirit of
Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from
the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in
you." —Romans 8:11), wants to personally teach you wonderful eternal truths.
• Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened
to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who
knocks it will be opened. —Matthew 7:7-8
58. Compass Got A Question In
QUESTION FOR THE DAY
• I recently went to a women's retreat put on by [a large well-known

fish out of water not going to church. Why is it that churches are afraid to
teach truth from the pulpit?! They won't teach the truth about homosexuality,
abortion, etc.
59. Compass Was Asked In
QUESTION FOR THE DAY
• ANSWER: They are not teaching truth because they don't know the truth
to teach. You should thank God for what He has allowed in your life. It
sounds as if you were in a false church whose leadership is NOT born of
the Spirit of God.
• Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," will enter the kingdom of
heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
Many will say to Me on that day, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your
name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many
miracles?" And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; DEPART
FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS." —Matthew 7:21-23
• God is obviously convicting you to find another place to fellowship, share
gifts, and grow spiritually. The Bible mentions the type of church you were
attending:

what we are being taught.
