Matthew 1:1-25 details Jesus's lineage and birth. It establishes that Jesus is the Son of Abraham by fulfilling God's promise to bless all nations through Abraham. It also establishes Jesus as the Son of David as the promised great king from David's line. Jesus is the Son of Mary through his miraculous virgin birth. As the Son of Man, Jesus identifies with sinners. Most importantly, Jesus is the Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit to save people from their sins, as the angels proclaimed.
