Outline:
Designing for dynamic web applications and mobile devices poses a new set of challenges. Web designers are increasingly being asked to apply their skills to where the page model no longer applies. We need new ways of exploring the user experience and communicating behaviours involving sub-page changes and movement.
Enter rapid prototyping. Widely acclaimed as one of the best ways to create great user experiences, it isn't without it's own pitfalls. This session will discuss the pros and cons of different prototyping techniques, and introduce a new technique called "screenflows" that focuses on visualising the user experience.
Discover how to combine the best of paper prototyping, wireframes and HTML prototyping into one simple and effective prototyping technique. Learn how using this method can dramatically decrease the need for documentation, while increasing the speed and agility of the development process.
A 4 hour workshop as a follow up to the "What is UX?" presentation.
Group exercises designed to get people thinking about how UX skills are applied to their daily digital work.
Putting the theory of UX into practice with some simple core tasks.

What I Learned in 17 Years at Interactive Agencies (EuroIA 2013)Peter Boersma
My lightning talk at Euro IA 2013, about the lessons I learned in my career as a designer of interactive systems and design processes. The lessons include:
- Break Bread
- Don’t over-design a process
- Government work is not boring
- Be ready to talk about money
- Meetings make the team
- Legal document =/= briefing
- It takes a lot of work to work
- Office Managers rule agencies

Finding a Job Project:
Strengths Assessment
My strongest trait that I can bring to any business is my ability to collaborate. I
actively search for touchstones with the people within my working sphere
despite traditional differences that might separate collaborators working
toward a common goal. This will allow me to succeed in what I believe has
become an increasingly team-based business model. I communicate clearly
and as shown through my work as chairwoman of the University of
Colorado’s student government Public Relations department I am selfmotivated,
responsible, and I am a leader who consciously forges strong
relationships with a wide variety of people. I am equally at home speaking at
conferences, classes, seminars or before government legislatures.
Secondly I have a practiced creativity. I am innately a creative person but I
believe that, like a second language, without practicing my creativity I will not
be able to keep current with my contemporaries or expand my own vision. I
routinely produce and show my artwork in galleries in Denver and I am an
active performing artist. As the owner of a small digital design business I
innovate, explore, and use all the tools available to me - in many cases this
includes traditional forms and methods of art. I am well versed in the
sculpture of wood, metals and mixed media as well as traditional handdeveloped
photographic processes. I delight in rendering illustration in a wide
variety of mediums including conte, charcoal, watercolor and pencil.
Finally I am strong in technical skills across a wide range of software
programs. These include print design applications such as Microsoft Office
(Word, Power Point, Excel), Adobe InDesign, Open Office and Adobe
Acrobat, and other graphic applications in the Adobe Suite (Photoshop,
Illustrator). I also know the digital design and movie making applications in the
Adobe Suite CS5; AfterEffects, DVD Studio Pro, iDVD, Bridge, Quicktime,
RealPlayer, DVD Player ,Final Cut Pro, and iMovie. I can edit and create in
sound applications such as Soundtrack Pro and GarageBand and can
program websites using Wordpress, iWeb, FlashCS4 (and ActionScript),
FrontPage, HTML4, and CSS.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

Transforming Brand Perception and Boosting Profitabilityaaryangarg12
In today's digital era, the dynamics of brand perception, consumer behavior, and profitability have been profoundly reshaped by the synergy of branding, social media, and website design. This research paper investigates the transformative power of these elements in influencing how individuals perceive brands and products and how this transformation can be harnessed to drive sales and profitability for businesses.
Through an exploration of brand psychology and consumer behavior, this study sheds light on the intricate ways in which effective branding strategies, strategic social media engagement, and user-centric website design contribute to altering consumers' perceptions. We delve into the principles that underlie successful brand transformations, examining how visual identity, messaging, and storytelling can captivate and resonate with target audiences.
Methodologically, this research employs a comprehensive approach, combining qualitative and quantitative analyses. Real-world case studies illustrate the impact of branding, social media campaigns, and website redesigns on consumer perception, sales figures, and profitability. We assess the various metrics, including brand awareness, customer engagement, conversion rates, and revenue growth, to measure the effectiveness of these strategies.
The results underscore the pivotal role of cohesive branding, social media influence, and website usability in shaping positive brand perceptions, influencing consumer decisions, and ultimately bolstering sales and profitability. This paper provides actionable insights and strategic recommendations for businesses seeking to leverage branding, social media, and website design as potent tools to enhance their market position and financial success.

Children love fun. Children love
games. Children love iPad. But tea-
chers don’t like iPad for everything.
They are used to teach to write,
compose and calculate the ana-
logue way. Writing is in this case a
superb tool to discover his close
environment. It also develops visual
sight and locomotion.
Meanwhile children wants fun,
those writing activities can lead to
frustration. Why not reinventing the
way we write to match those needs
?
So the idea behind Skribi is to put
fun, colours, in the process or wri-
ting.
12. Skribi change la couleur de mon ecriture ! En plus il tient bien dans la mai
First, the professor set colour’s
rules. Children can do the exercises
with Skribi pen. Now, he sees co-
lours as he is writing, ain’t fun ?
Why Skribi is a powerful tool ?
Let’s see some examples. When
you have to do a writing exercise,
red colour directly indicates to cor-
rect the shape. Green is also rewar-
ding you when all is good :)
Same for maths. Professor has
uploaded the good result. Children
can practice and progress by him-
self, leading to better results in au-
tonomy.
Using Skribi, picture under and
right, is also easy. Skribi is an ergo-
nomic pen. His form allows right
and left handling. Choose Skribi :)

Tinder, a date app, has been
really sucessfull since last year.
The application had a revolu-
tionary user experience, thanks to

was not as optimal as I was expec-

So I decided, for the Tinder

22. Sensibilise people to their consumption
Lampe Act is a project for EDF
and the city of Lyon in France. Every
year, for several weeks, Lyon turn into
a «city of lights».
EDF wanted us to increase the
public awareness about the energy
consumption. So at start, we decided
to design an artistic installation, ins-
pired from the piano in public spaces,
to draw the attention of the public on
the intimate feeling we can have about
energy like for the music.
To link piano and energy aware-
ness, we designed a specific system
where each lamp is a key of the pia-
no. They illuminate depending on the
intensity of the rhythm of the music...
Until everything stop, that’s the blac-
kout.
