Walt Disney s Disney On The World
Walt Disney
Walt Disney. I remember the first time I saw that name. I may not know the day or the time but I
remember the place. I was at home watching Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, which was Walt
Disney s first movie released in 1937 (Bio.com). When I saw the name Walt Disneyproductions on
the screen. I ask my mom who that person was. I knew I had heard my mom mentioning Disney
World so I was curious. She told me I d find out soon enough. A week later our bags were packed
my mom, dad we re off to show me who Disney was. I realized who he was when I first stepped
foot into Magic Kingdom. I was right my mom said before I could even ask. Walt Disney did
this. Walt Disney is the man who created Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida, and he also
created and helped build Disneyland in Anaheim California. Walt Disney made a huge impact
on the world by creating places for people to go relax and enjoy time with their family and
friends . Walter Elias Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois (About). Walt has
three older brothers and one younger sister (About). When Walt was four his family decided they
were going to move out of Chicago and go to Marceline, Missouri because many poor immigrants
from other countries now lived in the Disney s neighborhood, but the Disney s soon realized that
the children of these immigrants caused mischief which worried Walt s mother and father (About).

Why Is a Solution to the Israel-Palestine Conflict so Hard...
Israeli Palestinian conflict could be described as a clash that between Israelis and Palestinian
Arabs as they attempted to compete the same piece of land briefly (Dowty 2008:1, 4). The reasons
that prevent a solution to the Israeli Palestinian problem will be discussed and will be divided into
three parts, Israeli reasons, Palestinian reasons and the common problem between two countries.
In terms of Palestinian reasons, there are three reasons, the United Nation General Assembly
(UNGA) Resolution 181, consequence that Israel was established in 1948 and settlement policy is
enforced in Palestinian territory by Israel.
For the UNGA Resolution 181, Israeli occupied more territory than Palestinians. In 1947, two state
solution was passed in UNGA, Palestine was divided into two states, one for Jewish and one for
Arab (El Hasan 2010: 55). However, Arabs occupied 43 45.5% of land in Palestine even the
population of Arabs in Palestine was 2/3 (Soderblom 2003). This was unfair to them. Besides,
Jews claim that they have sovereignty on Palestine as their ancestor have moved to Palestine and
they maintain there is a tie between Jews and Palestine for more than 3,700 years, so it is their
historic homeland (Gans 2008: 101; Brown 2011: 139). In contrast, Palestinians argue that there
were only 1/4 of Jews lived in Palestine before 70 AD, this does not mean that Jews lived there can
compete the land (Lorimer and Malloy 2002: 7). Besides, Palestinian thought the UNGA Resolution

The Effects Of Methyl Mercury On Human Health
1.0 History of methyl mercury
The first organic mercury compounds were studied in the 1800s, with serious incidences of
methylmercury poisoning reported in 1865. Initial reports indicated a divergent symptoms
associated with methyl mercury poisoning. The symptoms include: loss of coordination, tunnel
vision, deafness, extremities, impaired speech and altered face sensation. Approximately a century
later, contrary to the decreased environmental pollution, the clinical picture re emerged. Therefore,
development of more harm to human health was suspected. However, international agreement to
control pollution by mercury was not reached until 2009. According to the historical evaluations
made, the effects of methyl mercury toxicity such forgetfulness, lack of coordination and tunnel
vision affected the research on environmental health. In 1914, methylmercury developed a
commercial significance as it was used as a crop fungicide. However, the use of the fungicide
globally, was accompanied by several incidences of food and workers poisoning. In the early 1950s
the compound also emerged as an industrial contaminant around Minamata bay in Japan. The
seafood contaminated, prompted a neurologic symptoms reflecting the incident reported in 1865.
Epidemiologic data from Minamata, combined with a 1952 report from Sweden, showed further
severe disease from early life exposures. The symptoms of this exposures include: seizures, impaired
motor development and mental retardation.

Preventing Sperm From Entering The Uterus
II.Barrier methods:
These methods are designed to prevent sperm from entering the uterus. Barrier methods are
removable and may be an option for female who cannot utilize hormonal methods of contraception.
Types of barrier methods include:
1 Male condom:
The condom consists of a thin sheath placed over the glans and the shaft of the penis that is
applied before any vaginal insertion. It is one of the most popular mechanical barriers. Among all of
the barrier methods, the condom offers the most effective protection of the genital tract against
STDs. Its use has increased from 13.2 18.9% amongst all females of reproductive age due to the
disquiet regarding the acquisition of HIV and STDs. It prevents pregnancy by preventing the
passage of semen into the vagina. Figure (1): Male condom
In November 2013, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) stated policy for improving the
utilization of condoms amongst adolescents.
These recommendations include the following:
Encouraged adolescents to abstain from sexual intercourse or delay future sexual relationships
Pediatricians should particibate in educating adolescents and their parents about responsible sexual
activity and encouraging the correct utilization of condoms among adolescents who are sexually
active.
Health education programs for K 12 children should provide education and counseling about sexual
behaviour and be integrated into cooperative, community based

Similarities Between Dreamland And The Giver
Did you know that characters from different books can have many things in common? Caitlin O
Koren s best friend, Rina Swain, is a go getting, playful, beautiful girl. Asher, Jonas s closest pal,
is a goofy, trouble making boy. Rina Swain from Dreamland and Asher from The Giver have
similarities and differences. Rina Swain and Asher are outgoing, fun loving friends that have
much in common. For example, Cheerleading is a sport, Rina said firmly. And besides, you get
to go to all the good parties (Dessen, 28). Rina always has a spring in her step, and looks for fun
and excitement. Like Rina, Asher s always funny and joyous. In addition, Jonas had casually
picked up an apple... and thrown it to his friend. Asher had thrown it back, and they had begun a
simple game of catch (Lowry, 22 and 23). Asher wants to play games, have fun, and hang out with
Jonas. Rina loves to socialize with her friend, Caitlin, just like Asher.... Show more content on

Asher smiled, his usual smile, friendly and familiar. But Jonas felt a moment of hesitation from his
friend, an uncertainty (Lowry, 64). Asher is jealous of Jonas and his new Assignment, he wants to
be an important person . Rina is the important person in this instant, unlike Asher and his
ordinariness. Rina and Asher can be fairly different sometimes. Rina Swain and Asher have many
similarities and some differences. Both of the characters help their friend become who they really

Compare And Contrast Ikea

world (Loeb, 2012). Also, it was stated in IKEA s website that the store is invading the region
with more than 403 stores in 49 countries around the world. THE One is also considered as a

Machiavelli s Discourses On Livy
Niccolo Machiavelli was at his time and continues to be now days one of the most influential and
revolutionary authors known throughout the centuries. His writings, distinct from other
renaissance authors of the epoch, make emphasis on his personal views and his opinions on the
political matters taking place in Florence, Italy. Further discussed in the text are two of Machiavelli
s most renowned works, The Prince and the Discourses on Livy. Both books comprehend
Machiavelli s understandings of politics and explicit analysis on the various methods of
governments with respect to principalities and republics.
Machiavelli had many intentions in mind when he was first writing The Prince, among which
where to understand, instruct and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He argues that it if the natural prince possesses such extreme sagacity, he will always maintain
himself in the state unless deprived by a superior force. Nonetheless, if the natural prince has
reasons enough to irritate his subjects and causes himself to be hated, people will willingly trade
him for another ruler in the hopes that the new ruler will be better than the present one.
Machiavelli says that once the prince is replaced, the state is no longer to be considered a
hereditary principality but be classified as a mixed principality. As Machiavelli had at first noted,
new and mixed principalities are indeed much more difficult to maintain. For it is in new and mixed
principalities that difficulties start to present themselves. Machiavelli states that mutations to form
mixed principalities, in which men change their rulers gladly in the belief that they will better
themselves by the change, arise from a natural difficulty. Unfortunately for the people, problems
for Machiavelli do not stop here, for he argues that it is an infinite number of other wrongs that
follow in the train of new conquests. When the new prince takes over another prince s domain, he
finds himself in a delicate situation with regard to the people who put him in power and with those
whom he injured by seizing that principality. He explains that the new prince has for enemies all
those whom he has injured by seizing that principality; and at the same time he

The Substance Abuse Social Worker
The Substance Abuse Social Worker Social workers have long worked with people who abuse
substances, beginning in the 1800 s with sobriety houses and inebriate asylums, to settlement
houses in the profession s beginnings to developing self help, consumer driven programs, designing
inpatient detoxification programs, and to applying youth oriented prevention and education
programs. As an addictions counselor, the social worker is a part of a specialized profession that
began with the wounded healer tradition of abstinence based movements of the 18th century (White
W. L., 2004). Social workers regularly encounter individuals, families, and communities affected by
substance use disorders. Many social workers specialize in the alcohol, tobacco,... Show more

May people see harm reduction such as methadone clinics a productive of our current society,
when actually, from 1919 to 1924, 44 communities had morphine maintenance clinics. These
clinics were run by public health or local police departments and were established to treat addicts.
With the Supreme Court decision that declared that for a physician to maintain an addict on his or
her customary dose is not in good faith medical practice, these clinics were all forced to close under
threat of indictment (White W. M., 1998). Narcotic treatment became nonexistent in America
except for the wealthy. It wasn t until the 1060 s that programs for narcotic addictions again
became available in the US. A substance abusesocial worker evaluates and treats people who have
substance use disorder. These can include tobacco, alcohol, illegal or prescription drugs. A
substance abuse social worker helps individuals overcome their substance abuse or misuse through
counseling, both individual and group and assist the person in identifying and receiving additional
services and resources as needed. Because addiction and recovery are different for each client, the
social worker must not place every addicted client into the same box of what treatments are used
and needed. This type of therapy is strength based and very individualistic. Substance abuse social
workers must have in depth training in the many components of addiction, as they need to

Public Attitudes Toward African Americans With Mental...
This paper examines the inequalities that African Americans with mental disabilities face in their
daily lives. It argues that this constituency receives inadequate medical access and services,
different treatment of their disability, and is highly stigmatized as compared to Whites. In order to
support my argument I examine public attitudes towards blacks with mental illnesses, their
depiction in the media, and contemporary issues related to the topic. I draw on specific course
concepts such as ableism and use an intersectional approach to show that African Americans are not
given the proper attention they deserve. In the first section of this paper, I examine public attitudes
toward African Americans who have mental disabilities and how this affects their treatment
options. In the second section, I explore the limited portrayal of blacks with mental disabilities in
television and film. In the third and final section, I discuss recent issues regarding the lack of Black
disabilitystudies. By researching this topic, I hope to bring more awareness and acceptance of
African Americans with mental disabilities. I also want to add more scholarship to the field, which
is much needed.
I. Views Towards Blacks with Mental Disorders
Although several years have passed since the civil rights movement, there continues to be
discrimination against people of color. This discrimination is even more prominent towards people
of color who have mental or physical disabilities. More

Animal Testing Is Unethical And Unnecessary
Animal testing is a secret most companies don t like to share. It is a global problem that needs to

purposes and it is immoral and unnecessary when we have advanced technologies that can replace
these harmful methods.

I have been able to find many helpful sources that have given me a substantial amount of
information related and in connection with my topic. Scholarly sources were harder to come by,
but I was able to find an abundance of non scholarly sources. I think this is due to the fact that
this is a current issue and although finding scholarly data is possible, non scholarly data presents
more in depth and current results that have either not yet been written about or that governmental
associations try to hide from the public. As I further my research, I hope to find more scholarly
sources. I would like to broaden my search terms and maybe try searching for sources in other
databases using the keywords cruelty free as well as further my search in discovering the full
process of animal testing within medical science, cosmetics and in educational facilities and what
laws are in place for animal rights and laws pertaining to experimenting with animals in different
regions. I d also like to find a source that goes in more detail about the alternatives to animal
testing as well. This is something that I really need because it is an important part of my thesis
and paper. I was surprised by the massive numbers of animals that are manipulated, abused and
murdered per year. It was also surprising to me that animals used for testing and experimentation
are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act. I feel as if I m just scratching the surface

Theories Of Criminality And Delinquency
Crime has been around since the creation of man, and specifically, since the fall of humanity in
biblical times. Since then, people have been trying to explain what causes an individual to commit
a crime. Although the Bible explicitly confirms the origin of crime is the sinful nature of man,
many have argued as to the cause of criminality. During the eighteenth century, the argument for
criminality and delinquency was the fall of man, as the Book of Genesis explains, after Eve ate
from the forbidden tree, in Chapter 3. The first criminal act follows the fall of man, in Genesis 4:8
(NIV) where Now Cain said to his brother Abel, Let s go out to the field. While they were in the
field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. Since then, human beings have committed
atrocities against other human beings, and continue to commit acts of violence against others to...

Moore starts with the definition of criminology and then proceeds to discuss five categories of
psychological theories related to understanding criminality and delinquency (Moore, 2011). The
methods used by Moore include a database search using keywords, and consultation with an expert
in the field. The problem with the method Moore used is the limited categories of psychological
theories in her article. Since there are so many different theories attempting to explain criminality
and delinquency, Moore excluded those theories addressing crime and delinquency from a
sociological perspective, and focused on the psychological theories because the psychological
theories tend to address crime and delinquency at the individual level, primarily identifying
individual differences that lead to criminal behavior (Moore, 2011, p. 228). The psychological
theories Moore discusses are Learning Theories, Intelligence Theories, Personality Trait Theories,
Theories of Psychopathy, and Cognitive and Social Development

The Industrial Revolution In Canada
Hundreds of thousands of events have occurred in history to bring us the Canada that we know and
love today. One event completely changed the world technologically, socioeconomically, and
culturally. It began in Britain but affected every corner of the Earth. While The Industrial
Revolution has come and gone, it brought in new inventions, encouraged international trade, and
created new settlement patterns, changing the world and building the foundation for the years to
come.
The Industrial Revolution began circa 1760 in Britain, the world s leading power at the time. Britain
had colonies on every discovered continent and thus, was very good at mercantilism; the economic

After America s independence from the British empire in 1783, BNA had much better access to
new technologies that allowed them to industrialize more quickly. The colony had been based
around mercantilism, so it only made sense that its industries would be based around transport of
goods and products. One example is MontrГ©al s Lachine Canal. Built in the 1820s, it was a very
popular form of transportation. Manufacturing factories and businesses developed in and around
major metropolitan areas like Toronto and MontrГ©al but the shift to an economy that measured
wealth in money rather than land had devastating effects during the Great Depression. During the
Great Depression, many Canadians moved into urban areas. This resulted in cramped and
unsanitary living conditions where disease was rampant. It was during this time when what is
often considered the Second Industrial Revolution began. In Canada, the revolution began with
advances in brewing, flour milling, textiles, and shipbuilding but later evolved to mass
automated moving assembly lines, large scale factories, and mass production of automobiles.
The Second World War heavily pushed the Second Industrial Revolution and by the 1970s, the
Digital Revolution was well underway. World War II ended the Great Depression and created
many jobs all over the world. It sparked a massive intervention amongst state planners and by the
war s end, Canada was at full employment. Industrial work peaked in the 1950s and
deindustrialization began to occur in Canada and the USA in the 1960s, with the rise of automated
machines. By this point, many state policies corresponding to the needs of an industrialized society
had been implemented, making an easier way of life for the poor and working

Benefits Of A Flower Garden
People who have backyards tend to take a great amount of time deciding what to do with all the
extra space in their yards. One good investment is to cultivate a backyard garden. However,
deciding on what to grow in it is another decision. This article will help you choose what type of
garden to grow in your backyard.
Flower Garden. Proponents of flower gardens argue that flowers make their backyard more
aesthetically valuable. A well planned and organized flower garden will make any backyard filled
with intense colors and scents.
Flower gardens will easily attract pollinators such as butterflies, bees and birds which will add to
the natural beauty of your backyard. When it is well planned, you can have a backyard that is
blooming with flowers throughout the year. Having a flower garden will also ensure that flower
vases inside your home are always filled with beautiful flowers that can make any day, even the
gloomy days, bright.

Vegetables do not have the most attractive flowers to attract birds, bees and butterflies. To make
sure that these pollinators find your vegetable plants, have flowers with high nectar content planted
along side flowering vegetables. This will attract more pollinators that will pollinate both the
flowers and the vegetables in your backyard garden. Flowers that have shades of yellow, blue or
white such as sunflowers, cosmos and zinnias are ideal for attracting pollinators.
* For Attracting Beneficial Insects. If you are like most people nowadays, you will want to opt for
organic foods. This means that you want foods that are free from synthetic pesticides. Attracting
beneficial insects which kill insect pests is a more scientific and organic approach to getting rid of
the harmful ones. Insects such as ladybugs, praying mantis, and parasitic wasps are beneficial
insects that are attracted to certain flowers and herbs such as parsley and flowers from the aster

The Pursuit Of Happyness By Chris Gardner
The Pursuit of Happyness In society there are still differences in classes such as higher class,
middle class, and lower class. In sociology, we observed a film called The Pursuit Happyness, where
we witnessed the struggles a father went through to succeed. Chris Gardner, who was played by
Will Smith, is living in his apartment with his wife and his son. Due to their struggles, the mother
walks out on and leaves Chris struggling alone with his son. In the film Chris Gardner applies for
an unpaid internship for a competitive stockbroker company where out of twenty men, only one
gets the job. While he is on his internship, we see the hardships of getting kicked out of his
apartment to staying at a shelter home to then sleeping in a subway bathroom with his son.
Viewing the movie through a sociological lens, The Pursuit of Happyness will be analyzed
according to the major three sociological paradigms: structural functionalism, social conflict theory,
and symbolic interactionalism. As the movie begins, a structural functionalist would identify the
social institutions involved. One of the first institutions introduced is family. The spouse of Chris
Gardner is not satisfied with the amount of income coming he is earning. It is clear that the
institution of family is not meeting the needs of happiness and financial stability because of the low
income. The institution of family interrelates with many others, such as the education institution
and especially economic institution.

3.5.2Price Strategy
a.PG s Pricing Objective В– Maximum market share
b.Demand В–Generate enough membership to cover the $110K expenses (at least).
c.Costs В– Operating Expenses of $110,000 per month
d.Competition price and offerings analysis В– For month to month membership pricing, price
ranges between $29.95 (LA Fitness) to $49.95 (Lifetime Fitness) with differing enrollment rates.
PG s no money down rate of $39.95 is lower than all current competitors except LA Fitness. PG s
$32.95 / $75 enrollment is lower than all except LA Fitness, which has higher enrollment fee of
$99, and PG s $26.95 / $125 enrollment is the lowest monthly rate. For membership contract plans,
PG s one year prepaid rate equates to $32.95 per month, which is lower than both Bally s ($39.95)
and Curves ($39.95), and does not have the high enrollment fees associated.
e.Pricing Method В– Going rate pricing
f.Final Price В– Maintain price at current level since it is priced competitively with the month to
month competitors and lower than the contract competitors, while having little to no enrollment
fees while offering extra services free of charge, like child care and towel service.

From the help of Kubelka Munk (K M) theory reflectance data was convert absorption mode [27].
As shown in figure 7 the as prepared CuO nanostructures with different ratio of citric acid exhibit
different sensitivities to visible light, the absorption edge is shifted to shorter wavelength with
compact size and altered morphology. Our results point out not only the size but also the
morphology of the CuO nanocrystals affects the bandgap. It is quite observable from the figure
7b that SP0.10A exhibits the hogher absorption properties in the visible region. Bhaumik, et al
2016 [28] reported the increase in absorption is highly desirable for better efficiency of a solar cell.
Therefore the SP0.10A sample exhibits the strongest absorbance and has a uniform flower shaped
CuO crystal thus; we can say that the sample may be ideal solar absorbers. Figure 7: Kubelka
Munk absorption spectra and Tauc s plot for the calculation of band gap of SP0.10, SP0.10A and
SP0.10B. Photoluminescence spectroscopy is an important tool to study the optical properties of a
semiconductor. Photoluminescence intensity may be directly correlated with the defect density in a
fluorescent material. However, the CuO has low emission efficiency (CuO is not a fluorescent
material) so there is a lack of luminescence data for copper oxide. Furthermore, recent theoretical
calculations indicate that although Cu vacancies are the most stable defects in CuO, they do not

The Story Of The Movie Lucy And I Were Up Front
Everything was going great on our way home our two week long mission. Lucy and I were up
front, talking side by side about the new addition of Sorcerer Magazine while Natsu and Gray
walked behind us. They were bickering once more about something that I didn t bother to pay
any attention to. And Happy was most likely walking besides them. Happy wasn t to happy with
me at the moment, as I had stepped on his tail by accident while trying to help out Natsu take
down a monster. No matter how many apologize nor the amount of fish offered would let the
little guy glance in my direction. We were only a few minutes from getting back to the guild. We
re only a few moments away from getting back to the guild after being away for a whole week and
you haven t injured yourself. Lucy placed her handon my shoulder, congratulating me on the
victory of my lack of clumsiness during our mission. You somehow always manage to harm
yourself. I guess you re right, I said sheepishly, running a hand threw my knotted hair. Even if I
tripped over myself I would somehow end up with a sprained ankle or a conclusion. I ve had
countless encounters of stumping down staircases, and knocking into chairs at the guild. I guess
you could say I lack a perfect balanced to even walk in a straight line. Lucy spoke too soon.
While we were heading down a flight of stairs Natsu and Gray s bickering turned into a full on
fight with pushing and shoving. To put the story short, Gray bonked

Effect of Using a Hand-Held Cellular Phone and Listening...
The effect of using a hand held cellular phone and listening to radio broadcast on driving
performance will be explored. There are many careless drivers on the road who are mostly
talking on the hand held cell phone. It is predicted that using a hand held phone would take the
driver s attention away and would cause driving slowly. Since many accident reports show that
cell phone use while driving is dangerous it is questionable if listening to radio will also be
detrimental on driving task. Many people turn on the radio for entertainment or to fight from
drowsiness especially if there is no other passenger in the vehicle. It is predicted that having a
conversation with using a hand held cell phone while driving will decrease the driving
performance, while listening to a radio broadcast will not have significant effect. Important
implications for the results for driving performance and for future research will be discussed. The
Effect of Using a Cell Phone and Listening to Radio on Driving Performance Many researchers
agree that numerous drivers engage in dual task that includes eating, talking or listening to radio,
which take away their visual attention (Гњnal, Platteel, Steg Epstude, 2013). It is suggested that
talking and driving at the same time increase the risk of accident and that it produces the same
consequence of driving while intoxicated (Atchley, Dressel, Jones, Burson Marshall, 2011). While
there are positive and negative aspects of listening to

Rethinking Emotions in the Brain: The Emotion Paradox
Introduction
Emotions are those pesky little things that fly around our bodies with us rarely realizing how much
our emotions guide our actions, whether it be in our economic or political life, but even in the
fundamental way that we perceive the world around us. The popular children s film Inside Out
teaches our children how to deal with their emotions, depicting the popular psychology conception
of our emotions: Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger play... Show more content on

On one side stands the classical categorical approach that posits that genetically entrenched
emotional categories exist universally across human beings. Meanwhile, the constructionist
approach posits that our emotions are constructed by the same systems that simulate our reality and
our sense of self inside our brains and thus hypothesizes that our emotions should also be
susceptible to being neurologically informed by our own values, judgements, and experience.
Because of this academic dance essential to moving science forward, humanity could be on the
precipice of a paradigm shift in how we think about our emotions and finally resolve what
neuroscientists call the emotion paradox by shining a spotlight on the constructed theory of
emotion, which provides a richer framework for comprehending of how our emotions work and
how they help simultaneously create and explain our reality while also, supposedly, conforming to
the neurologic state of the evidence.
Perception Basics
Though we do not yet know how our brains can produce something so complex as our
consciousness, we do know more about many of underlying systems work, which are crucial to
understanding the neurological basis of emotions. Everybody has good days when we walk to our
car in the morning with coffee in hand on our way to work feeling of

The Egyptian gods were important to the people and there were over 2,000 of them. The more
famous gods like Amun Ra, Mut, Osiris, and Horus had bigger roles than most of the gods but
they were equally as important. Different classes of people would worship different gods, and
worshiped them in different ways. Amun Ra was called The Hidden One. Amun had many names
and served several roles. The different ways to spell his name were Amun Ra, Amen Ra, Amon Re,
and Ammon Ra. There are two parts to this god. Amanuet was the female version of Amun Ra,
and Ra was the male version. Amun Ra s first role was known as Patron Saint of the Ancient
Egyptian City of Thebs, which is where he gained popularity by merging with Ra. His second
role was to be King of Upper Egyptian Gods. He was considered one of the most important
Egyptian gods, second to Osiris. Amunet and Amun both combined to be the kings of gods and
goddesses. The Greeks equaled him with Zeus, and Romans equaled him with Jupiter. His third
role was creative power to give life, and he was responsible for all life on Earth. Amun Ra was first

Racism- An Aid to American Society
Racism An Aid to American Society?
Racism is actions, practices or beliefs, or social or political systems that consider different races to
be ranked as inherently superior or inferior to each other, based on presumed shared inheritable
traits, abilities, or qualities. (Newman, 2012) Racism has promulgated after the slavery in America,
and these practices are still evident in our generations today. Oftentimes, when the word racism is
heard by many, negative characteristics on these actions will be dominant. Many perceive racism
as disrespect to one s rich culture and heritage, thus causing a lot of hatred. Despite my strong
objection on the act of racism, I believe that racism played a major role in the development and

Racism is what justified America s thirst for expansion through the Manifest Destiny which gave
an ideological dimension to its actions. It is important to see, at this point, that America is a
country which gives a huge importance to its national beliefs which include liberalism, self
determinism and democracy. Tierney (2011) says that it is ingrained so much so that there is a
liberal hegemony in the way Americans think, making its existence natural to America and its
inhabitants. The liberty of Americans justifies the Manifest Destiny s expansionist ideas by its
dimension of free development for Americans. Race, here, became one of the determinants of who
were to pay the price of that development and who were to profit. While countries such as Russia
and China imposed their ideologies on their countries which already had their nationalist ideologies,
America was born under its own, making the connection between its core beliefs and Manifest
Destiny an effective engine to justify the latter. When the original version of the Manifest Destiny
was accomplished in 1890, free development was found to be possible through two more activities,
nation building in the Americas and Imperialism ( Manifest Destiny , n.d.).
Nation building took form in slavery in tobacco farms, developing from an economic venture to a
cultural endeavor (p.109, Fields, 1990). Slavery also led to the empowerment of the other citizens,

The Character Roster And The Author s Technique
Chaucer s General Prologue: The Character Roster and The Author s Technique In the General
Prologue of Geoffrey Chaucer s Canterbury Tales , readers are introduced to twenty nine
pilgrims, who will, as a collective unit make their journey to St. Thomas Beckett. As the poet
encounters each pilgrim on the voyage, his attention to detail is not focused solely on opinion or
his own perspective of the individual, but the individual in every sense. His way of describing
each character s traits, appearance and overall attitude is done so quite casually, on a first glance
basis. There is a realness within the General Prologue that allows readers to visualize the described

Placing this young solider under his father, demonstrates the power and rank that differs within
the family and in the social order, yet the contrast of their intentions is not the only image the
poet provides. In following the poet s pattern of appearance, readers see the Squire well dressed
compared to his father, as fresh as is the month of May/ Short was his gown with sleeves long
and wide (92 93). This attention to his appearance plays into this dedication to battle versus
winning a woman s heart quite well, further reinforcing this contrast between father and son.
While the two differ in their service to their Lord and their nobility, the representation of
character continues as the poet describes the Prioress and the Monk, two differing religious
figures within this journey. There was also a nun, a Prioress as the poet writes, her smiling was
full simple and coy , she pledged her allegiance to the fashionable convent (118 119). The
presentation of this character holds a double meaning in its way, as this woman s devotion is not
solely focused on religion, but her appearance, it seems, as she has began this pilgrimage rather
than remaining on holy land. In the image of her personal appearance, Chaucer attaches this sense
of elegance that differs from her male counterparts. Readers are able to understand this different
perspective of elegance in regards to the nun, who is not coated with makeup and jewels, but
demonstrates elegance in

There Should Be No Credit Cards
There Should Be No Credit Cards
Introduction
Today many people blame their credit card debt on the economy. With their being so little
employment with very little income; we are forced to live under our means. Credit is usually
misused and accumulates large amounts of debt. Many people use credit cards for daily expenses or
to buy their wants rather their needs. Often times, credit cards are used to pay rent, utilities and
other daily expenses due to people living off of paycheck to paycheck and do not make enough
money to pay their monthly bills to buy necessities. Some people may use credit cards to keep up
their material social statuses amongst their peers. Other people have some sort of social
influences; however, these people do not need to rely on credit to live, it is just to impress friends.
Credit card companies reel college students with applications in the mail daily and advertisements
are causing them financial burdens.
When Debt Begins
The debt of credit cards typically starts at a young age in life, before discipline and life
experiences have taken place. Yes, they get you even before you start college. They know when
your eighteenth birthday has come. It is a given fact that most credit card debt is accrued right
before or during college. I would say definitely before college. Most teenagers want to get what is
hot for their first year in college with their new credit cards they hide from their parents. Mannix

This is a falsehood, not everyone can be rich, because as a capitalist regime that America runs
under that there will be inequality this includes poverty. A Capitalist society is divided into
classes that are defined by the place each class occupies in relation to the production of goods for

production of goods, while workers, because they have no accumulated wealth or capital, must

Visual Elements Of Art Falls
An unestablished piece of art that stuck out to me was railroad tracks. This work of art speaks
to me because it reminds me of the many people who were slaves that tried to escape to freedom
many years ago. Their journey was filled with endless runinng trying to escape their old lives
filled with danger, and abuse. These individuals were in search of an uknown world that awaited
them. Moreover, it is reminiscent of leaving one s old life behind in search of something new, the
unkown. The artistic impulse that this work of art falls under is refreshing our vision to see the
world in new ways. Immediately seeing a railroad track might not result in everyone having the
same interpretation of how this falls into the realm of an unestablished work of art. There are

Limitations of the Anchoring Effect
Anchoring Effect
Anchoring effect, also known as a relativity trap, is the tendency we have to compare and contrast
only a limited set of items. It is called the anchoring effect because we give disproportionate weight
to the first piece of information we receive. The initial impact of the first information, our
immediate reaction to it, is so significant that it outweighs everything else, drowning our ability to
evaluate a situation. (http://www.entendeo.com/decision_making_and_the_paradox_of_choice.php)
The classic example is an item at the store that is on sale. We tend to see and value the difference
in price, but not the overall price itself. This is why some restaurant menus feature very
expensive entrees, while also including more (apparently) reasonably priced ones. It is also why,
when given a choice, we tend to pick the middle option not too expensive, and not too cheap. http:/

Social polarisation is the widening gap within a given society that emerges from income disparities
within individuals causing various social groups, from high income to low income. It entails the
expansion of jobs that require low skills while at the same time, jobs that require higher
professionals and expertise still experience growth. There is a rising concern on issues of social

Rents have also gone up, and those residents who cannot keep up with the high rates move out of
the favelas. The current socioeconomic disparities in Brazil, that of wide income levels between the
rich and the poor, encourages the rapid growth of favelas. For instance, in Rio de Janeiro, political
prisoners who have a good educational background remain in prison with drug dealers permitting
them to create a criminal network that has excellent organizational structures. The syndicate that
results, Commando Vermehlo, cunningly plans to expand social programs in the favelas using
the proceeds of cocaine sales. By helping many of the poor favela residents, they gain a lot of
support, which makes it challenging for the police subject the culprits to legal prosecution. Due to
a rise in arrests by the police, the Commando Vermehlo came to a standstill and the favelas
remained under the control of different drug dealers. Income disparities among residents living in
favelas also encourage the trade of drugs since it is more profitable than honest labor. The rich also
fuel conflicts in favelas by purchasing drugs and failing to push for changes that could improve the
living standards in the favelas.

The Framers And The Constitution
The Framers chose federalism because they had already tried confederalism under the Articles of
Confederation and had found that it created a central government that was too weak to do what was
needed. They also did not go with a unitary system because people did not trust a central
government because the people had just become free from a centralized British government that
was too oppressive. Also in choosing federalism it prevented against tyranny. The want to split the
power of government so that no level of government could become too powerful was necessary.
Other structures that they could have chosen from are anarchy (lawlessness), authoritarian (state
authority), commonwealth (united by common good), communist (state plans and controls),
confederacy (union of political units or states), dictatorship (single ruler with absolute power),
ecclesiastical (government administrated by a church), monarchy (single absolute ruler with

The Braaap motorcycle brand was established in 2008 by Brad Smith. Brad began with a vision
to supply motorbikes which would making motorcycling more fun and accessible for people. The

These prices encompass all the products within the Braaap brand from clothing, spare parts,
motorcycles etc
Prices for the bikes are as follows:

125cc$2,399.00
Classic 150cc$2.999.00

Pro 190cc$4,649.00
Road Racer 250cc$3,999.00
Braaap are a reasonably priced brand with the performance of the other major motorbike brands
like Yamaha and Honda. Yamaha in comparison with the 250 cc road racer with a similar model
sells for around $8,999.00 and Honda is around $4,300.00.This means that they are competitively
priced and affordable to the mass market.
One problem that could arise is the price of the components, if the cost of these rise this could
influence the overall price of the motorbikes. Other factors that could affect this is the strength of of

This hard physical work required a tremendous labor force trained to handle organized chaos.
The staff, both nice and hard working were limited in their abilities and appeared destined to
pursue this endeavor for the rest of their lives. It presented an experience distant from the hotel
culture. Mayo, the only full time busboy, tall, slender, and always punctual, was quite a
character. A black server with a scruffy appearance and a quasi Van Dyke goatee, Japes figured
he inherited some sort of learning disability as he grinned and mumbled to himself all day long.
Everyone made exceptions for Mayo thus allowing him to be part of the team. Through years of
repetition he developed a thorough understanding of his well established routine. One of Japes
first managerial challenges, per Kitty, involved teaching Mayo how to properly shave even
though he was a fifty year old server not some wayward teenager. Mayo always looked half
shaven with his whiskers a flying, as he had worked there for twenty years and nobody ever
encouraged him to change anything. It took all of his skills to persuade Mayo as to the virtues
of a nice clean look, and eventually he took it to heart by shaving very close. When Mayo arrived
at work he looked as though he shaved with a lawnmower with his face cut in many places and he,
rightfully agitated. Japes learned, after the fact, that many black men have curly facial hair, which
can be difficult to groom. He

My Personal Experiences Of Basketball And Basketball
My history with sport started at a young age; by three years old, my father already had me
swinging a baseball bat. Yet, for me personally, the earliest memories I have of sports were
watching my older brother play basketball on the hoop in our front yard. Before I knew it, I was
out on the basketball court at 5, playing in games with my father, brother and neighbors. At 6 when
I first started kindergarten, my parents signed me for a winter YMCA basketballleague where I
began to shine. Being one of the few kids on the team that could dribble the ball and actually
take shots, I played the point guard position and was constantly given the ball. Seeing my
success in the basketball league, my parents wanted me to play little league next, with the hope
that it would be as successful as basketball. Evidently, my parent s intuition about my athletic
ability was correct. In little league, I was one of the few kids who could throw the ball across
the diamond. Naturally, as I was one of the few kids that could field, I was relegated to second
base and occasionally shortstop. While I may have felt that I was one of the best hitters on the team
at the time, reflection on my past reminds me that I always had trouble with swinging the bat. Much
to my parent s dismay, baseballwas not the same as basketball for me; I was unable to dominate
without any resistance. Yet, not all hope was lost. As a pitcher, I showed great promise. Even
though I was not the tallest kid or the strongest kid, I

The Rent On Their Honest Tenants
the rent on their honest tenants. 12C Moreover, the estimates do not take into consideration the
secondary cost to society. 12D Critics perceive, aid to counsel will cause frivolous lawsuits in an
already overly litigious society. 33 The impact from this cost can harm landlords bottom line
affecting their chances from receiving loans from banks and access to credit. 34
There are possibilities for a frivolous lawsuit, but the severity of the housing crisis trumps frivolous
lawsuits that are unlikely to make it to trial. The proponents of the frivolous lawsuit argument are
similar to the voting ID argument. It is unfounded that voting ID fraud is rampant, however, the
chances of this happening is less than 1%. 32 One percent is a nominal figure that does not raise a
situation to code red and allows for the disenfranchisement of whole sections of voters. Similarly,
the possibility of a nominal number of frivolous lawsuits brought by indigent litigants should not
disenfranchise the right to representation in housing court. Most importantly, there safeguards and
screening put in place to reduce the chances of frivolous lawsuits. For example, attorneys must
listen and evaluate a case using their legal knowledge to determine if a case is meritless or not. In
addition, the court and the judge must examine the case and can make a determination if the case is
meritless or not. Moreover, landlords bring eviction cases, not tenants.35 Therefore, indigent
litigants cannot increase

Graffiti is writing or drawings that have been scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or
other surface, often in a public place.Graffiti ranges from simple written words to larger wall
paintings, and it has existed since ancient times, with examples going back to Ancient Egypt,
Ancient Greece, and the Roman Empire. Graffitiis a worldwide situation that has a never ending
debate to it, is it art or vandalism? To be honest I think graffiti is a form of art because it is a way
to express peoples feelings, it can give out good messages for everyone to see, and in my opinion
these kids are getting no credit for the talent they have because people have this vision in their head

There are kids out there living on the streets that just want to express what they are feeling, they
love it and want to share it but the only place they feel like doing that is on the streets, for
everyone to see and where they grew up. d my opinion there s kids out there who have talent
better than some artists for that matter and are these kids are not being recognized for it
because people have this vision in their heads that graffiti is a crime. Instead of being
recognised and paid for their work they are getting arrested. Although In my opinion i believe
graffiti is a form of art, it is attractive to the eye and it has a meaning to it. Graffiti is a form of
self expression and, I think that self expression is a form of art. Some artists paint on canvas
while others paint on buildings, either way it is still someone s creativity at work. There is much
worse going on in the world that people should be worrying about more than graffiti, but yes,
technically it is vandalism, but it doesn t harm anyone in any way.
The main con about graffiti is that it can open the door to other crimes such as burglary and assault
. Another negative point about graffiti is that it is often used for gangs to mark their territory. When
another gang or random person covers up the old graffiti with their own, it can start tention between
each other, which would obviously turn

I will analyse the cost to the music industry of internet piracy over the last decade, Quantify and
qualify the argument that an illegal download is equal to one song purchased. I will use the
statistical and financial data from the RAII and other authorities to outline my findings.
Also I will controversially conclude whether the music industry is benefiting from music piracy,
whether the music industry is now an open market business, and the attitude of artists to an open
market compared to that of their record labels and the RAII copyright authority.
3 Overview
3.1 The Definition of Internet Piracy and the Damage it causes
The term internet piracy has been around for the last decade, describing the illegal activity of
downloading and sharing copyrighted material freely. The Recording Industry Association of
America warns companies and consumers about the threat of internet piracy:
Music theft is a real, on going and evolving challenge. Both the volume of music acquired illegally
without paying for it and the resulting drop in revenues are staggering. Digital sales, while on the
rise, are not making up the difference (RIAA, 2012)
In 2007 the Institute for Policy and Innovation estimated that the total cost of Internet Piracy,
specifically to the music industry, is costing the US economy over $12 billion a year:
As a consequence of global and U.S. based piracy of sound recordings, the U.S. economy loses

Ocean s Eleven Essay
Ocean s Eleven
Path goal Theory In Ocean s Eleven Steven Soderbergh did a great job as a director in keeping the
audience interested throughout the whole movie time. Path goal theory of leader effectiveness can
be easily applied to the movie. The path goal theory by Robert House holds that the leader can
affect group s performance, satisfaction and motivation by offering rewards for achieving goals,
clarifying paths towards these goals and removing obstacles to performance. After being released
from prison, Danny Ocean (Clooney) finds out that Las Vegas kingpin Terry Benedict (Andy
Garcia) is seeing his ex wife Tess (Julia Roberts). Danny sets up a goal to steal millions from Terry

In some instances of the movie Danny is acting as directive leader, where he gives specific
instructions to the group and clarifies expectations. Path Goal theory assumes that leaders are
flexible and they can change their leadership style depending on the situations. Although, the
leader behavior outcome relationship is moderated by contingency variables environment and
follower characteristics. The followers do not have control of environment, and the
environmental factors determine the leadership style. Follower characteristics are the locus of
control, experience, and perceived ability. In the ocean s eleven case the team members can be
described as having external locus of control where they believe that their success is attributed
to luck or fate. The whole robbery plan is based that each member will performed his specified
duties and everything goes well as planned, also that boxing championship will not be cancelled
on the weekend, which means that most significant high rollers will go gambling. Danny and
Rusty set up the path to be followed to achieve their goal to rob three casinos owned by the ever
ruthless Terry Benedict. Danny acts like the charismatic leader of the team. The plan is to pull off
the heist, but what enhances the movie s plot is Danny Ocean s charm. Besides the common shared
goal, the film also focuses on

Theme Of Nobody Is Good At All
The theme for this text is that nobody is good at everything, but everybody is good at something.
At the beginning of the story, the narrator compares himself to his brother and father s athletic
accomplishments and feels like less than them or like a failure. The story reads, he tried to pass
on his athletic skills to my older brother Eddy and me. During the times I felt well, I tried to keep
up with them, but my lungs always failed me. (Yep 5). This shows that the narrator never felt like
he was good enough for his father compared to Eddy. As the story progresses, the narrator is
learning from his father to shoot a rifle. His father s tone makes him think that he is still
disappointed that Eddy is not helping him instead. The narrative

The Reconstruction Era Was A Success
The Reconstruction Era was a Success Shortly after the Civil War ended in 1867, President
Abraham Lincoln s new objective was to unify the union and the confederate states into what was
formerly known as the United States of America. This time period is known as the Reconstruction
Era, starting with the surrender of Robert E. Lee at Appomattox Court House in 1865 and ending
with the implementation of the Compromise of 1877. The Reconstruction Era was a time period
full of political, economic, and social changes, some being temporary and some lasting to modern
time. Many modern ideas about freedom and political equality come from the positive results of
reconstruction. Reconstruction however did not successfully solve the problem of social inequality
between African Americans and White Southerners, but the goal of reconstruction was not to
promote social equality, it was to unify the union, which was accomplished. So, the Reconstruction
Era was not a failure, if anything, it was successful because it granted rights to African Americans
that they never had before, it started programs such as the Freedmen s Bureau to assist former
slaves and poor whites with education, and it met the goal of unification. Prior to the
Reconstruction Era, African Americans had extremely little rights in society and politics. However,
the Reconstruction Era granted several rights to African Americans that are still a part of The
United StatesConstitution today. The Thirteenth Amendment

Liberal Arts Education Should Be Implemented Into A New...
For centuries, a liberal arts education was a sign of a well rounded, creative individual. However,
in an ever changing era, a liberal arts education is nothing more than an example of how little
people enjoy change. Nowadays, numerous jobs require basic to intermediate computer skills,
literacy in basic business and economic concepts, and a remedial understanding of geography, social
customs, and current events. The core curriculum of a liberal artseducation, which includes history,
math, art, science, English, literature, and a variety of social sciences, needs to be expanded to
encompass the subjects people encounter every day in the 21st century. This paper is directed

Natural sciences entail subjects such as biology, chemistry, and physics, whereas formal sciences
include mathematics. Although the subjects which teach computer skills, business skills, and
world awareness are offered at most universities, they are not required classes, even though they
are quickly becoming necessary skills in the world. The liberal arts standard curriculum needs to
be adjusted to overcome the gap which exists between what students are expected to know and
understand and what they are actually taught. The goal of a liberal arts education is to create a
well rounded, educated individual. Expanding and adjusting a liberal arts education to meet the
requirements of an ever changing society does in no way hinder this goal. In all actuality,
expanding a liberal arts education to require new subjects would simply create more well rounded
individuals. Furthermore, changing the liberal arts curriculum is nothing new. The original
curriculum developed by the Greeks only included grammar, rhetoric, and logic and was soon
expanded during the medieval times to include four new topics (Haidar). Changing the curriculum
becomes necessary when new skill sets are required in society. Since the last time the liberal arts
curriculum was adapted, technology has expanded and with it new skills are required of
employees. With the gap that exists between what skills are necessary and what is

Essay on El Nino and Global Warming
El Nino and Global Warming
El Nino has been known to wreak havoc al around the world, from Australia to Africa to the
United States of America, and despite its approximate regularity, it is still not possible to predict
exactly when it will appear or how much damage will be caused. Meteorologists discovered in the
late 19th century that El Nino weather events appeared to be occurring approximately every ten to
fifteen years but in the late 19th century this gradually changed to a strong pulse of about three
years by the early 20th century, at the same time it had been noted that the temperature was rising
above the average. This was a gradual change until 1976 where changes were occurring, the El ...

California saw the political leader; Vice President Al Gore suggesting that the effect of global
warming may be increasing the likelihood of an El Nino weather event. He based his theory
around a scientific prediction that the winter of 2002 was going to be the worst within the past
decade, the last extreme winter was recorded in 1982 83 when the country was invaded by
floods, heavy snow and drought. In a speech he made he said that El Nino events were becoming
more common and the gradual increase in global warming was creating a build up of pollutant
gases in the atmosphere making it harder for the air wasn t able to circulate as easily so the
winds were forced by the increased air pressure to take an alternate route. This idea however was
dismissed as being more political rather than environmental as people felt Gore was following the
awareness of concerns over global warming by President Clintons campaign. The campaign was
created to help get worldwide negotiations on how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Gore
believed this campaign would be a step towards

take to roll in a pocket for any given dimension of pool table. I did not however come up with a

How Does John Keats Use Personification In The Four Seasons
In The Human Seasons the author, John Keats, uses personification while describing the four

one may realize. The four seasons actually represents distinctive phases/stages that are terrifically
vital for life to exist. Tho s stages are birth, childhood, adulthood, and death. This is proven by
Keats when he states that Four Seasons fill the measure of the year; There are four seasons in the
mind of man. By stating that He has his lusty Spring, when fancy clear Takes in all beauty with an

  • 2. Walt Disney s Disney On The World Walt Disney Walt Disney. I remember the first time I saw that name. I may not know the day or the time but I remember the place. I was at home watching Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, which was Walt Disney s first movie released in 1937 (Bio.com). When I saw the name Walt Disneyproductions on the screen. I ask my mom who that person was. I knew I had heard my mom mentioning Disney World so I was curious. She told me I d find out soon enough. A week later our bags were packed my mom, dad we re off to show me who Disney was. I realized who he was when I first stepped foot into Magic Kingdom. I was right my mom said before I could even ask. Walt Disney did this. Walt Disney is the man who created Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida, and he also created and helped build Disneyland in Anaheim California. • 3. Why Is a Solution to the Israel-Palestine Conflict so Hard... Israeli Palestinian conflict could be described as a clash that between Israelis and Palestinian Arabs as they attempted to compete the same piece of land briefly (Dowty 2008:1, 4). The reasons that prevent a solution to the Israeli Palestinian problem will be discussed and will be divided into three parts, Israeli reasons, Palestinian reasons and the common problem between two countries. In terms of Palestinian reasons, there are three reasons, the United Nation General Assembly (UNGA) Resolution 181, consequence that Israel was established in 1948 and settlement policy is enforced in Palestinian territory by Israel. For the UNGA Resolution 181, Israeli occupied more territory than Palestinians. In 1947, two state solution was passed in UNGA, Palestine was divided into two states, one for Jewish and one for Arab (El Hasan 2010: 55). However, Arabs occupied 43 45.5% of land in Palestine even the population of Arabs in Palestine was 2/3 (Soderblom 2003). This was unfair to them. Besides, Jews claim that they have sovereignty on Palestine as their ancestor have moved to Palestine and they maintain there is a tie between Jews and Palestine for more than 3,700 years, so it is their historic homeland (Gans 2008: 101; Brown 2011: 139). In contrast, Palestinians argue that there were only 1/4 of Jews lived in Palestine before 70 AD, this does not mean that Jews lived there can compete the land (Lorimer and Malloy 2002: 7). Besides, Palestinian thought the UNGA Resolution 181 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Machiavelli s Discourses On Livy Niccolo Machiavelli was at his time and continues to be now days one of the most influential and revolutionary authors known throughout the centuries. His writings, distinct from other renaissance authors of the epoch, make emphasis on his personal views and his opinions on the political matters taking place in Florence, Italy. Further discussed in the text are two of Machiavelli s most renowned works, The Prince and the Discourses on Livy. Both books comprehend Machiavelli s understandings of politics and explicit analysis on the various methods of governments with respect to principalities and republics. He argues that it if the natural prince possesses such extreme sagacity, he will always maintain himself in the state unless deprived by a superior force. Nonetheless, if the natural prince has reasons enough to irritate his subjects and causes himself to be hated, people will willingly trade him for another ruler in the hopes that the new ruler will be better than the present one. Machiavelli says that once the prince is replaced, the state is no longer to be considered a hereditary principality but be classified as a mixed principality. As Machiavelli had at first noted, new and mixed principalities are indeed much more difficult to maintain. For it is in new and mixed principalities that difficulties start to present themselves. Machiavelli states that mutations to form mixed principalities, in which men change their rulers gladly in the belief that they will better themselves by the change, arise from a natural difficulty. Unfortunately for the people, problems for Machiavelli do not stop here, for he argues that it is an infinite number of other wrongs that follow in the train of new conquests. When the new prince takes over another prince s domain, he finds himself in a delicate situation with regard to the people who put him in power and with those whom he injured by seizing that principality. He explains that the new prince has for enemies all those whom he has injured by seizing that principality; and at the same time he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As an addictions counselor, the social worker is a part of a specialized profession that began with the wounded healer tradition of abstinence based movements of the 18th century (White W. L., 2004). With the Supreme Court decision that declared that for a physician to maintain an addict on his or her customary dose is not in good faith medical practice, these clinics were all forced to close under threat of indictment (White W. • 11. Public Attitudes Toward African Americans With Mental... This paper examines the inequalities that African Americans with mental disabilities face in their daily lives. It argues that this constituency receives inadequate medical access and services, different treatment of their disability, and is highly stigmatized as compared to Whites. In order to support my argument I examine public attitudes towards blacks with mental illnesses, their depiction in the media, and contemporary issues related to the topic. I draw on specific course concepts such as ableism and use an intersectional approach to show that African Americans are not given the proper attention they deserve. In the first section of this paper, I examine public attitudes toward African Americans who have mental disabilities and how this affects their treatment options. In the second section, I explore the limited portrayal of blacks with mental disabilities in television and film. Scholarly sources were harder to come by, but I was able to find an abundance of non scholarly sources. • 13. Theories Of Criminality And Delinquency Crime has been around since the creation of man, and specifically, since the fall of humanity in biblical times. Since then, people have been trying to explain what causes an individual to commit a crime. Although the Bible explicitly confirms the origin of crime is the sinful nature of man, many have argued as to the cause of criminality. During the eighteenth century, the argument for criminality and delinquency was the fall of man, as the Book of Genesis explains, after Eve ate from the forbidden tree, in Chapter 3. The first criminal act follows the fall of man, in Genesis 4:8 (NIV) where Now Cain said to his brother Abel, Let s go out to the field. While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. The methods used by Moore include a database search using keywords, and consultation with an expert in the field. The problem with the method Moore used is the limited categories of psychological theories in her article. Since there are so many different theories attempting to explain criminality and delinquency, Moore excluded those theories addressing crime and delinquency from a sociological perspective, and focused on the psychological theories because the psychological theories tend to address crime and delinquency at the individual level, primarily identifying individual differences that lead to criminal behavior (Moore, 2011, p. 228). Built in the 1820s, it was a very popular form of transportation. Manufacturing factories and businesses developed in and around major metropolitan areas like Toronto and MontrГ©al but the shift to an economy that measured wealth in money rather than land had devastating effects during the Great Depression. During the Great Depression, many Canadians moved into urban areas. This resulted in cramped and unsanitary living conditions where disease was rampant. It was during this time when what is often considered the Second Industrial Revolution began. In Canada, the revolution began with advances in brewing, flour milling, textiles, and shipbuilding but later evolved to mass automated moving assembly lines, large scale factories, and mass production of automobiles. The Second World War heavily pushed the Second Industrial Revolution and by the 1970s, the Digital Revolution was well underway. World War II ended the Great Depression and created many jobs all over the world. It sparked a massive intervention amongst state planners and by the war s end, Canada was at full employment. Industrial work peaked in the 1950s and deindustrialization began to occur in Canada and the USA in the 1960s, with the rise of automated machines. In sociology, we observed a film called The Pursuit Happyness, where we witnessed the struggles a father went through to succeed. Chris Gardner, who was played by Will Smith, is living in his apartment with his wife and his son. Due to their struggles, the mother walks out on and leaves Chris struggling alone with his son. In the film Chris Gardner applies for an unpaid internship for a competitive stockbroker company where out of twenty men, only one gets the job. While he is on his internship, we see the hardships of getting kicked out of his apartment to staying at a shelter home to then sleeping in a subway bathroom with his son. Viewing the movie through a sociological lens, The Pursuit of Happyness will be analyzed according to the major three sociological paradigms: structural functionalism, social conflict theory, and symbolic interactionalism. As the movie begins, a structural functionalist would identify the social institutions involved. One of the first institutions introduced is family. The spouse of Chris Gardner is not satisfied with the amount of income coming he is earning. It is clear that the institution of family is not meeting the needs of happiness and financial stability because of the low income. There are many careless drivers on the road who are mostly talking on the hand held cell phone. It is predicted that using a hand held phone would take the driver s attention away and would cause driving slowly. Since many accident reports show that cell phone use while driving is dangerous it is questionable if listening to radio will also be detrimental on driving task. Many people turn on the radio for entertainment or to fight from drowsiness especially if there is no other passenger in the vehicle. It is predicted that having a conversation with using a hand held cell phone while driving will decrease the driving performance, while listening to a radio broadcast will not have significant effect. Important implications for the results for driving performance and for future research will be discussed. The Effect of Using a Cell Phone and Listening to Radio on Driving Performance Many researchers agree that numerous drivers engage in dual task that includes eating, talking or listening to radio, which take away their visual attention (Гњnal, Platteel, Steg Epstude, 2013). Tierney (2011) says that it is ingrained so much so that there is a liberal hegemony in the way Americans think, making its existence natural to America and its inhabitants. Race, here, became one of the determinants of who were to pay the price of that development and who were to profit. • 32. Limitations of the Anchoring Effect Anchoring Effect Anchoring effect, also known as a relativity trap, is the tendency we have to compare and contrast only a limited set of items. It is called the anchoring effect because we give disproportionate weight to the first piece of information we receive. The initial impact of the first information, our immediate reaction to it, is so significant that it outweighs everything else, drowning our ability to evaluate a situation. (http://www.entendeo.com/decision_making_and_the_paradox_of_choice.php) The classic example is an item at the store that is on sale. We tend to see and value the difference in price, but not the overall price itself. This is why some restaurant menus feature very expensive entrees, while also including more (apparently) reasonably priced ones. It is also why, when given a choice, we tend to pick the middle option not too expensive, and not too cheap. http:/ /io9.com/5974468/the most common cognitive biases that prevent you from being rational4 You depend on anchoring every day to predict the outcome of events, to estimate how much time something will take or how much money something will cost. The Reconstruction Era Was A Success The Reconstruction Era was a Success Shortly after the Civil War ended in 1867, President Abraham Lincoln s new objective was to unify the union and the confederate states into what was formerly known as the United States of America. This time period is known as the Reconstruction Era, starting with the surrender of Robert E. Lee at Appomattox Court House in 1865 and ending with the implementation of the Compromise of 1877. The Reconstruction Era was a time period full of political, economic, and social changes, some being temporary and some lasting to modern time. Many modern ideas about freedom and political equality come from the positive results of reconstruction. Reconstruction however did not successfully solve the problem of social inequality between African Americans and White Southerners, but the goal of reconstruction was not to promote social equality, it was to unify the union, which was accomplished. So, the Reconstruction Era was not a failure, if anything, it was successful because it granted rights to African Americans that they never had before, it started programs such as the Freedmen s Bureau to assist former slaves and poor whites with education, and it met the goal of unification. Essay on El Nino and Global Warming El Nino and Global Warming El Nino has been known to wreak havoc al around the world, from Australia to Africa to the United States of America, and despite its approximate regularity, it is still not possible to predict exactly when it will appear or how much damage will be caused. Meteorologists discovered in the late 19th century that El Nino weather events appeared to be occurring approximately every ten to fifteen years but in the late 19th century this gradually changed to a strong pulse of about three years by the early 20th century, at the same time it had been noted that the temperature was rising above the average. This was a gradual change until 1976 where changes were occurring, the El ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An analysis of the coral showed that the length of the cycle changes with the normal average climate , as the corals growth spurts were higher when the records from previous years matched with those of previous El Nino events. California saw the political leader; Vice President Al Gore suggesting that the effect of global warming may be increasing the likelihood of an El Nino weather event. He based his theory around a scientific prediction that the winter of 2002 was going to be the worst within the past decade, the last extreme winter was recorded in 1982 83 when the country was invaded by floods, heavy snow and drought. In a speech he made he said that El Nino events were becoming more common and the gradual increase in global warming was creating a build up of pollutant gases in the atmosphere making it harder for the air wasn t able to circulate as easily so the winds were forced by the increased air pressure to take an alternate route. This idea however was dismissed as being more political rather than environmental as people felt Gore was following the awareness of concerns over global warming by President Clintons campaign. • 55. What Are Pool Pockets Pool Pockets For this problem we were given a modified pool table, in which there are only corner pockets, no side pockets. We imagine there is a ball starting in the bottom left corner and shooting at a 45 degree angle and bouncing off the side of the table until it rolls into a hole. The question that I am trying to answer however is if I can predict how many times the ball will hit a wall before landing in a pocket and also which pocket it will land in. During this problem a learned many different things like where the ball would roll and how many rebounds it would take to roll in a pocket for any given dimension of pool table. I did not however come up with a super formula for the problem but a did find some pretty interesting rules. One ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
