Mario Testino is a Peruvian photographer who
was born October 30th, 1954. He is known as
a fashion and portrait photographer as well as
a creative director and philanthropist. His
work has featured internationally in magazines
such as Vogue, V Magazine, Vanity Fair and
GQ.
Alongside his practice as a photographer,
Testino has also worked as a creative director,
guest editor, museum founder, art collector

Due to the dark colours of the dog and the man's hair and clothing, my
attention is drawn to the brightness of the dogs collar which reflects
the light as well as the whiteness of the man and the dogs teeth and
the man's eyes. The photo is a medium close-up which shows that the
views are supposed to be focused on the faces of the man and the dog.
The neutral grey background makes the black of the man's clothing
stand out which draws the attention of the audience to the man and
the dog. Direct address is also used as well as the rule of three as Tom’s
eyes are on the golden points. The combination of lighting and dark
clothing create a sense of anger and rage in the image. This is also
shown in his facial expression which is similar to the dog featured in

In this shot, my attention was first drawn to the white of the
women's faces and fur coats which contrast against the
monotone background. The colour in the sky in the
background makes the models stand out as the mid-ground is
dark. The eye makeup on the models is heavy and makes them
look aggressive, and the makeup combined with the clothing
makes the models look dominant. The lighting focuses mostly
on the women's faces as well as lighting up the bodies of both
models which makes the white of their skin and clothing. The
combination of the monotone photo and the models facial
expressions create a sense of rebellion as they are wearing
dark clothing and heavy eye makeup.

In this photograph, the thing that stands out the most for me is
the ring. This is because the dark blue stands out against the
bright colours of their clothing as well as the lighting coming
through the window behind them. Contradictory to this
however, I am also drawn to the bright colours of William and
Kate’s clothing. The direct address in the photo also stands out
because they are looking at the audience. The combination the
lighting and basic colour created connotations of family life
and happiness.
