The document analyzes four photographs representing different genres of music. The first photograph of David Guetta is a mid-shot intended to showcase his sex appeal. It was taken in a studio with dark lighting and his open shirt suggests danger and sexuality. The second photograph of Lindsey Lohan is also a mid-shot with dark lighting and greyscale manipulation to portray her as mysterious. The third photograph shows three members of Swedish House Mafia in a studio mid-shot, with differing eye lines to show a hierarchy and sunglasses adding to their mystique. The fourth close-up focuses on the heads of two models engaging in dirty behavior to represent the genre of "F**K ME I'M FAMOUS" through their appearance

1. Photography Research I am going to research and analyse four different photographs with in my genre of music; this is to give me a better understanding of how i am going to compose the photos in my own magazines as i will know how to represent my genre of music.

2. David Guetta This is mid-shot, to show off the body of David Guetta, and therefore to have a sex appeal towards women. David’s eye line in pointed towards the floor, this could connote that she his shy and does not wan to make direct contact with the camera. This also makes David seem more mysterious. There are no props used in this shot as the focus needs to be all on the artist. This background suggests that it has been taken in a studio as, the background is plane and therefore it a front cover shot as there is plenty of room for the writing to go on. Background is dark this suggests that David is dark and mysterious; also this could be relating back to his music as he normally plays in clubs which are usually dark. Costume – The costume used in this shot is emphasize the sexual appeal and the white shirt suggests innocents, which however contests with the fact that David has his shirt open, this could men that he is dangerous and sexy. There is a spot light used on David, this is to emphasise the fact that he is the main focus in the photograph. Also the spotlight is coming from the left which could connote that he is more important therefore reinforcing the focus on David Guetta.

3. Lindsey Lohan This photograph is a mid-shot. Lindsey’s eye line in pointed away from the camera this could suggest that she is slightly shy and doesn’t want to make direct eye contact with the audience, also this makes the audience want to find out even more about her. This background suggests that it has been taken in a studio as, the background is plane and therefore it a front cover shot as there is plenty of room for the writing to go on. Background is dark this suggests that Lindsey is dark and mysterious; also this could be relating back to the kind of music that she likes as this photo is used POP magazine wich is a dance and house music magazine; moreover this could be suggesting that as Lindsey likes house and dance music she likes to co clubbing and clubs are dark inside. The costume used in this shot is a black dress, although you cant really see it much because the picture has been manipulated by using greyscale. Lindsey’s black dress could connote that she is dark and mysterious and therefore she could be a dark person who we do not know a lot about. There is a spot light used on Lindsey, this is to emphasise the fact that she is the main focus in the photograph, also it is used to show off her feautres as it highlights her face and arms, this could connote that her face is the most important part in photograph.

4. Swedish House Mafia This photograph is a mid-shot with 3 people, the person in the middle is facing the front which therefore is connoting that he is the most imprtant member of the band, the other twp people are facing the inwards wich therefore they are not as important as the main memer of the band. One of the members of the band are looking up, this could suggest that he is looking up to the other band member, and aspires to be like him. The photograph has been manipulated by using grescale; ……….. The prop that have been used is a ball; this could be connoting that the band are fun and love to mess around. This background indicates that it has been taken in a studio as, the background is plane. This shot is however too busy to be on the front cover and would therefore be used on a DPS(double page spread). The costumes that the band is wearing is suggesting that they are a fun loving band and also it rienforces the genre of music. The band are all wearing sunglasses which could mean that they are all hiding from the audience and want to seem mysterious, also it could mean that they like to be in hot weather and travel a lot with shows and club appriences.

5. F**K ME I’M FAMOUS This photograph is a close up to two heads; this could be suggesting that the rest of the picture is not important it is only the heads where the detail is important. The man in the photo is a stereotypical house music listener. He is biting the woman’s ear; this connotes that he is nasty in same ways but they are both smiling which suggests that that they are friends or even in are relationship and could just be being dirty, this is reinforces the dirty house music genre that F**K ME IM FAMOUS plays. The lady in the picture has a lot of make up on and is quiet brown; this could mean that she is on holiday or has been on holiday, also the make up used is dark eye-shadow and red lipstick. The red lipstick connotes that she is a vampish sexy women, the dark eye shadow suggest that she is a bit mysterious. Also her earring is sparkling and suggesting that she is precious and is a rare; this reinforces the club (F**K ME IM FAMOUS) because they are rare and there Is not many of these clubs around the world. The models in this photograph are both older, I would say about late 20’s, this is again reinforcing the music genre, as the average house music listener is in their late 20’s, and is therefore appealing to the correct audience.
