Marg Energy is a 360 degree renewable energy solutions provider based in Bangalore, India. They specialize in utility-scale solar projects, rooftop solar, and other renewable energy generation sources. Marg is proposing to develop a 50-100 MW solar park in Karnataka to supply power to commercial and industrial customers through third-party power purchase agreements. The key aspects of the proposal are selecting a 500-acre land parcel for the solar park, facilitating agreements between developers and customers, and managing development, construction, and long-term operation of the solar project. Marg believes Karnataka is well-suited for this project due to its strong solar resources, supportive policies, and large commercial/industrial customer base seeking renewable energy.

Solar Energy is making great inroads in India and it is expected to become one of the leading sources of power in the coming times. This is mainly attributed to the ease of installation and operation of Photo Voltaic technology.
Enerco Energy Solutions LLP has recently launched RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Contract) also known as BOOT (Build-Own-Operate-Transfer) or OPEX financial model in India for Solar Energy power projects. Enerco Energy Solutions LLP undertakes the 100% financing and execution of Solar Energy power projects on a turnkey basis +O&M of the project.
The business model also known as RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company) or OPEX model is about investing in Solar Energy projects at a Client side with the entire investment by the executing Company i.e. Enerco Energy Solutions LLP.
A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is signed with the consumer and the Solar tariff is generally at a price lower than grid tariff.
Benefits of this model :
1. The consumer (typically Industrial / Commercial) does not have to invest any amount in the project - the project is 100% funded by the execution company.
2. The consumer starts saving on cost from first day of operations as the Solar tariff is lesser than grid tariff (and certainly much lesser than cost of power from D.G. set).
3. The O&M and upkeep of the project is the responsibility of the execution company.
4. The project is installed at consuming company's site - thereby projecting it's image as an energy and environment conscious company.
5. The project is transferred free of cost or at a nominal cost to the consumer - subject to the agreement terms.

Farzana Rahman, Unit Head (Investment), Renewable Energy
Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Assistant Manager, Renewable Energy
As part of the series of regional engagements in South Asia, Smart Villages is organising a workshop on off-grid rural energy provision in Bangladesh. The country has the fastest growing programme in the world with an estimated 70,000 solar home systems (SHS) installed per day. More than 3 million SHS have been installed in off-grid rural areas in the country bringing electricity to an estimated 13 million people.
The aim of the workshop is to gain insights from the experience of a wide variety of stakeholders in Bangladesh who are involved in rural off-grid energy provision in the country. This workshop will offer a number of potential lessons to other countries within the region. The workshop provides an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities presented by expansion of solar home systems (SHS) and mini-grids to off-grid rural communities and the challenges faced in this expansion. During this workshop we will also investigate the potential impact of energy access on rural livelihoods in the country.
The workshop is being jointly organised by Smart Villages and Practical Action.
What services should a solar project developer expect from solar park & how much each service can be valued.
The ppt clears concept on value add by solar park.

v Marg’s plan is to install, execute and commission a Utility scale PV Solar power
plant in Karnataka on the basis of Open Access policy. Size can be anywhere
between 50-100 MW.
v Consumers of Power on 3rd party PPA – Commercial consumers, Industrial HT
users etc.
v Available land bank – 500 Acres.
v To be developed as a solar park for Open access consumers.
v Marg to facilitate the process of getting 3rd party PPA’s signed between
Developers and consumers.
Ø Approach:
ü Identify Potential consumers in Karnataka.
ü Invite potential developers/investors.
ü Land bank has been already identified.
ü Executing All Statutory and regulatory approvals.
ü Execute PPA’s.
6. WHY KARNATAKA?
q Huge consumer base having contract demand of >=1 MW of electricity.
q Consumers need to meet their RPO mandate.
q Karnataka has implemented various measures to promote solar energy.
q For industrial and commercial consumers, solar power can help in
mitigating the impact of future increases in their tariff.
q Consumers can avail solar energy at a lower cost.
q High average DNI of 5.80 across Karnataka.
q GoK contemplates to facilitate deemed conversion of land for solar
projects
