You may think that your boss is not the brightest.
He is what he is because he has brought value to the organization.
You may not be aware of your boss’ strengths.
He/she probably has allies in higher positions.

High pitch and edgy
No respect reason behind a problem
Scold someone and prevent the problem
Dealing with these bosses
Take and accept their verbal blows
Take their nonsense
Do not get fed up ,Stay on their good side.
If you can do exactly that, then you have dealt with them.
Show that you are smarter you put your growth at risk.
Types of Bosses
Power Hungry
Power and authority office and home.
wearing the mask of a boss
Overtly possessive post
Always want complete control of the situation
Insecure, and too preoccupied
Dealing
Significance to discipline, rather than performance
Do not break the rules even for organizations broader goals- Take prior approval
Show them respect : make them feel that they are the big boss
you will be able to go about your duties undisturbed.

Irrelevant and immesurement qualities
Sing glory of past achievements, rest is utter claptrap दखावे का.
Stress a lot on performance, lack the management skills to get it
lack confidence , do not stick to a plan, yet hard working
Dealing
Welcome advice to get bearings, offer them substantial help
Don’t expect them to be lenient in the office
Build and maintain
Cannot make any false moves, or tolerate mistakes
Given enough time eventually be good bosses - !!!!- Time is the key
Types of Bosses
Intimidating
Aggressive and no-nonsense bosses
Issue commands to get things done
They have an ego, and carry it with them while they are in the office.
Sometimes they look like are running a criminal gang.
Threaten their employees, don’t go overboard because they are insecure
They keep to their own space, and are reserved by nature.
Dealing
Respect their privacy
Interact with them If you are smart enough
Know how to break their defense, you can even befriend them
Manage to take some liberties in the Don’t go overboard otherwise- they may crack!!!
Types of Bosses
Excel and influence
Handle both the management and the employees efficiently.
Have positive vibes about themselves, they can produce results even in the midst of a crisis.
Not particularly harsh on employees, but they mean business
Highly professional, and expect employees to behave so too – a rare species
Dealing with bosses
Perform your duties well enough.
Beware of such bosses, as they are highly determined to rise in the hierarchy.
Should be a threat to their/organizational goals, they may take you off
Form their own core groups, even within the same organisation
Be careful and mind your own business, you will always stay in their good books

Managing your boss

  • 3. Humans Have their preferences and dislikes So -Work not only for them, but also with them What Bosses are
  • 5. What does Boss do legal and legislative issues Organizational issues Performance issues Periodical reviews Awarding/Rewarding periodic raises and promotions
  • 6. Relationship with your boss Understand your boss’ role in the organization Be aware of personality traits and conflicts Be conscious of your boss’ normal schedule Be supportive of your boss Communicate with your boss
  • 7. Relationship with your boss Listen to your boss Offer to assist your boss Be respectful of your boss’ authority Maintain positive attitude at work Keep professional relationship with your boss
  • 8. Handling Conflicts Maintain your composure (EFA will worsen the situation) Determine the cause of the conflict Keep the situation in perspective Propose alternative and resolutions that you can to your boss Discuss the situation with your boss (sit down and talk)
  • 10. Sync with the Boss What is working with how you manage your boss now? What would you like to see happen? What can you do to make things better? How can you help him/her meet goals and pressures?
  • 11. What are his/her Goals, Objectives and Values Pressures Strengths, weaknesses, blind spots Preferred work style Sync with the Boss
  • 12. Reader vs. Listener Am I a reader and listener? Is my boss a reader or listener? Ask your colleagues/friends How can I work with others in a way that works for me?
  • 13. Maintain relationship Fit both your needs and styles Characterize by mutual expectations Keep your boss informed (reader/listener) Based actions on dependability and honesty Selectively use your boss’s time and resources
  • 14. DO’S Learn everything you can about your boss Further boss’s success and help deliver it Adapt your work style to those of the boss Do not expect the boss to adapt to yours
  • 15. DO’S What your boss’s goals and objectives at work are Focus on the common objectives Discuss problems and disagreements Learning what your boss needs to know Be a good listener before being a good speaker Help your boss explore issues Ask probing, open-ended, but supportive questions
  • 16. DO’S Keep your boss informed about what is going on. Never let him/her surprised by superior about in your area. Communicate with your boss in the manner he or she prefers Attune to your boss’s shifting needs and issues
  • 17. DO’S Manage your own performance Initiate regular reviews on how you are doing. Don’t assume your boss knows everything you are doing. When you do something of his make sure it is known Pick your battles with the boss.
  • 18. DO’S Remember to say “Thank You” to the boss Remember to say “Thank You” to the team Everyone appreciates politeness
  • 19. DONT’S Do things that your boss does not approve Make promises that you cannot deliver Expose the boss to surprises Go over to a superior manager repetitively Be defensive when criticized
  • 20. DONT’S Criticize your boss inside or outside of the organization. Assume anything you say will remain confidential Be a “yes person” Praise the boss insincerely. Embarrass your boss
  • 21. Word of Caution You may think your boss is not an asset to the organization. You may think that your boss is not the brightest. He is what he is because he has brought value to the organization. You may not be aware of your boss’ strengths. He/she probably has allies in higher positions.
  • 23. Types of Bosses Superiority complex Exhibiting power Anonymous Intimidation Excel and Influence

Types of Bosses Superiority Phobia Scream and shout High pitch and edgy No respect reason behind a problem Scold someone and prevent the problem Dealing with these bosses Take and accept their verbal blows Take their nonsense Do not get fed up ,Stay on their good side. If you can do exactly that, then you have dealt with them. Show that you are smarter you put your growth at risk.

Types of Bosses Power Hungry Power and authority office and home. wearing the mask of a boss Overtly possessive post Always want complete control of the situation Insecure, and too preoccupied Dealing Significance to discipline, rather than performance Do not break the rules even for organizations broader goals- Take prior approval Show them respect : make them feel that they are the big boss you will be able to go about your duties undisturbed.
  • 26. Types of Bosses Anonymous Do not belong Irrelevant and immesurement qualities Sing glory of past achievements, rest is utter claptrap दखावे का. Stress a lot on performance, lack the management skills to get it lack confidence , do not stick to a plan, yet hard working Dealing Welcome advice to get bearings, offer them substantial help Don’t expect them to be lenient in the office Build and maintain Cannot make any false moves, or tolerate mistakes Given enough time eventually be good bosses - !!!!- Time is the key
  • 27. Types of Bosses Intimidating Aggressive and no-nonsense bosses Issue commands to get things done They have an ego, and carry it with them while they are in the office. Sometimes they look like are running a criminal gang. Threaten their employees, don’t go overboard because they are insecure They keep to their own space, and are reserved by nature. Dealing Respect their privacy Interact with them If you are smart enough Know how to break their defense, you can even befriend them Manage to take some liberties in the Don’t go overboard otherwise- they may crack!!!
  • 28. Types of Bosses Excel and influence Handle both the management and the employees efficiently. Have positive vibes about themselves, they can produce results even in the midst of a crisis. Not particularly harsh on employees, but they mean business Highly professional, and expect employees to behave so too – a rare species Dealing with bosses Perform your duties well enough. Beware of such bosses, as they are highly determined to rise in the hierarchy. Should be a threat to their/organizational goals, they may take you off Form their own core groups, even within the same organisation Be careful and mind your own business, you will always stay in their good books
  • 29. SUMMARY By effectively managing your boss Improve your chances of being successful in your job Reduce job related stress Enhance the effectiveness of the organization
