TECHNICIAN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME - ELECTRICAL Technician Name: Makki Al-Farid ID Number: 1801 Objective By the end of the program Makki shall have gained the required Competence and Knowledge to carry out maintenance tasks up to an Electrical Authorization level of CEP-C2 at JG-12. He shall have gained Knowledge and Understanding of the relevant rules and procedures followed by SASREF. These shall include, but not limited to SASREF Safety Procedures, MSE Working & Standing Instructions and DEP Engineering Standards. At the end of the programme there will be an individual assessment designed to establish whether the required competencies of entry to Job Grade 12 have been achieved. The programme is aimed at addressing the remaining competences from the CGA and building on what has been achieved previously by Makki over the last 22 months. Description of Required Competencies: (Refer to GME Competence Map for Grade 12 entry OTM job family, Electrical –Field for more details) 1. TECHNICIAN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME - ELECTRICAL Demonstrates a working knowledge of the test procedures, maintenance practices and commissioning standards used for Protection relays - Can perform most routine tasks and basic troubleshooting with the minimum of guidance 2.08 Safety Practices Demonstrates a working knowledge of Safety Procedures and MSE Working and Standing Instructions appertaining to his job - Can perform most routine tasks with the minimum of supervision 2.09 Switching Procedures Demonstrates a depth of knowledge of switching procedures for Isolation and De-isolation - Can perform most routine tasks related to his CEP-C2 authorization 3.0 General Electrical Engineering 3.01 Integrity and Reliability – Concepts and Procedures Demonstrates a working knowledge of SASREF initiatives when supporting maintenance – Can carry out most routine tasks and give accurate feedback with possible solutions to improving the I & R of the equipment. 3.02 Management of Projects, SPC/MPC and Shutdowns Demonstrates a working knowledge of Projects and MEDM’s and their planning - Can perform most routine tasks with a minimum of guidance 3.03 Organization of DEPs, Drawings and Standards Demonstrates a working knowledge of Electrical standards - Can locate the relevant information related to the job. 4.0 English Language: 4.01 Attain English language level of General English Lower Intermediate D-Pet. Makki has passed (D) – Pet, in November 2003 4.02 Is able to read and interpret data, instructions and working maintenance practices from vendor data books. 4.03 Is able to communicate to others using the company standard methods; e-mail, PACER, maintenance sheets, audit reports and short technical reports. 5.0 Assigned Areas / Departments and durations: MSE 3
TECHNICIAN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME - ELECTRICAL 5.01 Makki will work areas assigned to his mentor. Makki will highlight to his mentor the areas he needs to cover in order to achieve his tasks. See separate Full Rotation plan file. 6.0 Guidelines for the Programme 6.01 The duration of the programme is intended to be for 24 months starting from the 15th July 2004 6.02 Makki is the owner of the programme and it is his responsibility to progress and follow up on his programme. It is his responsibility to ensure the timely completion of the programme. He should make it know to his assessor of problems that could be hindering the progress of his development programme. 6.03 Makki will gather his knowledge from Self Development, CD-ROMs, Training Modules, Video Modules and the MSE/SASREF staff. 6.04 Makki’s Mentor shall guide him in knowledge and competence to carry out the tasks. If he cannot give him all that is required he shall find other resources that can. The object and details of each task shall be discussed and clarified with Makki by the Assessor. 6.05 The Mentors Supervisor with the coordination of the Mentor shall ensure that enough opportunities are made available in the planning for Makki to practice his hands on competence skills and knowledge on the required tasks. 6.06 It is the responsibility of the Assessor to ensure that the tasks are assessed to the SASREF standards and requirements available in MSE/2 shared folder. 6.07 The programme progress, the skills and the knowledge achieved will be monitored and recorded by the OJT. It is the OJT who is responsibility for the quality control of the programme and to carry out audits on assessments carried out. Records will be kept in MSE/2 shared folder. 6.08 Everyone involved in this programme who plays a key role in the successful completion of it (Mentee, Mentor(s), Assessors and OJT shall be given the chance to review the programme, comment on it and once agreed shall officially endorse it. 7.0 Progress 7.01 Makki has made excellent progress so far. He is self motivated and enthusiastic to progress in his development. He is very pro-active with ideas and suggestions on how to improve things. His progress so far is highlighted in red. 7.02 Makki completed the SVQ-2 development programme at the Jubail Industrial College June 2002 He also completed City & Guilds 8600 in 2001 at JIC.     TECHNICIAN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME- ELECTRICAL Technician Name: Makki Al-Farid ID Number: 1801 Objective By the end of the program Makki shall have gained the required Competence and Knowledge to carry out maintenance tasks up to an Electrical Authorization level of CEP-C2 at JG-12. He shall have gained Knowledge and Understanding of the relevant rules and procedures followed by SASREF. These shall include, but not limited to SASREF Safety Procedures, MSE Working & Standing Instructions and DEP Engineering Standards. At the end of the programme there will be an individual assessment designed to establish whether the required competencies of entry to Job Grade 12 have been achieved. The programme is aimed at addressing the remaining competences from the CGA and building on what has been achieved previously by Makki over the last 22 months. Description of Required Competencies: (Refer to GME Competence Map for Grade 12 entry OTM job family, Electrical –Field for more details) 1. Theoretical Knowledge: 1.01 Distribution Systems Demonstrate an awareness of Bus-bar systems, Transformers, Switchgear and Cabling systems by describing the basic elements - Has the ability to locate additional information 1.02 Generation Equipment Demonstrate an awareness of Gas, Steam and Diesel driven Generation equipment systems by describing the basic elements. Has the ability to locate additional information. 1.03 Power Supplies Demonstrates a working knowledge of AC & DC UPS systems - Can perform most routine tasks and basic troubleshooting with the minimum of guidance and supervision 1.04 Substation Maintenance Demonstrates a working knowledge of hardware forming the Substations - Can perform most routine tasks and basic troubleshooting with the minimum of guidance 1.05 Field Maintenance 1

    TECHNICIAN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME- ELECTRICAL Demonstrates a working knowledge of HV/LV motors, Cables, Temporary & Portable Equipment, earthing, Lighting, Sect Transformers, Sect Heating, MOV’s, Electrical Overhead Cranes, Eltron Heaters and Trace heating - Can perform most routine tasks and basic troubleshooting 1.06 Motors Demonstrates an awareness of principles and applications of HV/LV induction motors, Synchronous motors and VSD’s - Has the ability to locate additional information 1.07 Test and Inspection Demonstrates a working knowledge of Temporary equipment, Portable equipment, Relay protection and various test equipment - Can perform routine tasks and basic troubleshooting with the minimum of guidance 1.08 Hazardous Area Classification Demonstrates a working knowledge of classification for Zones, Gas Groups and Temperature classes - Can perform most routine tasks and basic troubleshooting with the minimum of guidance 2.1.9 Engineering Science and Applications Relevant to Discipline Demonstrates a working knowledge of Engineering Science - Can perform most routine tasks and basic troubleshooting with a minimum of guidance 2.0 Electrical Maintenance Practices 2.01 Distribution Systems Demonstrates an awareness of maintenance activities associated with Transformers, LV cable splicing, Cable terminations and Switchgear. Has the ability to locate additional information. 2.02 Generation Equipment Demonstrates an awareness of the relevant Generation systems and the maintenance associated with them - Has the ability to locate additional information 2.03 Power Supplies Demonstrates a working knowledge of the Power supplies and Battery back-up systems supporting essential services - Can perform most routine tasks and basic troubleshooting with a minimum amount of guidance 2.04 Substation Maintenance Demonstrates a working knowledge of the Refinery Electrical distribution systems as well as Lighting and Types of supplies - Can perform most routine tasks and basic troubleshooting with a minimum of guidance. 2.05 Field Maintenance Demonstrates a working knowledge of the maintenance activities associated with Cables, Temporary and Portable equipment, various Heaters, MOV’s and Overhead cranes - Can perform most routine tasks and basic troubleshooting with a minimum of guidance 2.06 Motors Demonstrates a working knowledge of the maintenance techniques for the type of Motors used in the refinery - Can carry out most routine tasks and basic troubleshooting with a minimum of supervision 2.07 Test and Inspection 2

    TECHNICIAN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME- ELECTRICAL Demonstrates a working knowledge of the test procedures, maintenance practices and commissioning standards used for Protection relays - Can perform most routine tasks and basic troubleshooting with the minimum of guidance 2.08 Safety Practices Demonstrates a working knowledge of Safety Procedures and MSE Working and Standing Instructions appertaining to his job - Can perform most routine tasks with the minimum of supervision 2.09 Switching Procedures Demonstrates a depth of knowledge of switching procedures for Isolation and De-isolation - Can perform most routine tasks related to his CEP-C2 authorization 3.0 General Electrical Engineering 3.01 Integrity and Reliability – Concepts and Procedures Demonstrates a working knowledge of SASREF initiatives when supporting maintenance – Can carry out most routine tasks and give accurate feedback with possible solutions to improving the I & R of the equipment. 3.02 Management of Projects, SPC/MPC and Shutdowns Demonstrates a working knowledge of Projects and MEDM’s and their planning - Can perform most routine tasks with a minimum of guidance 3.03 Organization of DEPs, Drawings and Standards Demonstrates a working knowledge of Electrical standards - Can locate the relevant information related to the job. 4.0 English Language: 4.01 Attain English language level of General English Lower Intermediate D-Pet. Makki has passed (D) – Pet, in November 2003 4.02 Is able to read and interpret data, instructions and working maintenance practices from vendor data books. 4.03 Is able to communicate to others using the company standard methods; e-mail, PACER, maintenance sheets, audit reports and short technical reports. 5.0 Assigned Areas / Departments and durations: MSE 3

    TECHNICIAN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME- ELECTRICAL 5.01 Makki will work areas assigned to his mentor. Makki will highlight to his mentor the areas he needs to cover in order to achieve his tasks. See separate Full Rotation plan file. 6.0 Guidelines for the Programme 6.01 The duration of the programme is intended to be for 24 months starting from the 15th July 2004 6.02 Makki is the owner of the programme and it is his responsibility to progress and follow up on his programme. It is his responsibility to ensure the timely completion of the programme. He should make it know to his assessor of problems that could be hindering the progress of his development programme. 6.03 Makki will gather his knowledge from Self Development, CD-ROMs, Training Modules, Video Modules and the MSE/SASREF staff. 6.04 Makki’s Mentor shall guide him in knowledge and competence to carry out the tasks. If he cannot give him all that is required he shall find other resources that can. The object and details of each task shall be discussed and clarified with Makki by the Assessor. 6.05 The Mentors Supervisor with the coordination of the Mentor shall ensure that enough opportunities are made available in the planning for Makki to practice his hands on competence skills and knowledge on the required tasks. 6.06 It is the responsibility of the Assessor to ensure that the tasks are assessed to the SASREF standards and requirements available in MSE/2 shared folder. 6.07 The programme progress, the skills and the knowledge achieved will be monitored and recorded by the OJT. It is the OJT who is responsibility for the quality control of the programme and to carry out audits on assessments carried out. Records will be kept in MSE/2 shared folder. 6.08 Everyone involved in this programme who plays a key role in the successful completion of it (Mentee, Mentor(s), Assessors and OJT shall be given the chance to review the programme, comment on it and once agreed shall officially endorse it. 7.0 Progress 7.01 Makki has made excellent progress so far. He is self motivated and enthusiastic to progress in his development. He is very pro-active with ideas and suggestions on how to improve things. His progress so far is highlighted in red. 7.02 Makki completed the SVQ-2 development programme at the Jubail Industrial College June 2002 He also completed City & Guilds 8600 in 2001 at JIC.
