DUTIES:
POWER GENERATION SERVICE DEPARTMENT
KOMATI WATER SCHEME PROJECT
• Monitors the telemetry of 12 transformer rectifier units (TRU’s).
• RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) installation, maintenance, fault diagnostic,
commissioning and design modifications.
• RTU configuration for each transformer rectifier unit.
• Interfacing the RTU with the station DCS
• Communication testing between the RTU and the control station.
• Motorola radio communication network configuration and installation.
• Calibration and installation of transducers (voltage and current) for
which are used to read the injected current to the pipe line which feeds
the power stations cooling towers.
• I designed and build power supplies (220VAC/24VDC)@3A which act
as a battery charger for two 24V lead acid batteries and also supplies
the radio power supply in order to maintain the status of the TRU in
case there is power failure because the installed switch mode power
supplies were failing when the lightning strikes.

and the SCADA systems.
