 Now-a-days car accidents are mostly seen. The current scenario
shows that the most of the road accidents are occurring due to
drunk-driving. So, here we implemented a prototype version
Alcohol Detection system in order to control drunk and driving as
much as we can.
 In this project we have developed a real time model that can
automatically lock the engine when a drunken driver tries to drive
a car.

PRINCIPLE :-
 This alcohol detection system works on a simple principle, if a driver has been
drinking, the alcohol breath analyser sensor will detect the level of alcohol in the
driver's breath and if it crosses a set threshold, an alert will come and the vehicle
engine will stop immediately.
FLOW CHART
The entire system consists of :-
o MQ3 (Alcohol sensor)
o Buzzer
o Start/Stop Button
o Arduino UNO (Microcontroller)
o 16X2 LCD Display
o DC Gear motor
o Power LED
o Switch Button
MAJOR COMPONENTS
 The system consists of an Arduino microcontroller, which acts as a
controller for every component which is used.
 As soon as the system is ON, the LCD displays “No Alcohol
detected” and the vehicle engine gets started.
 MQ-3 sensor detects the presence of alcohol in the surroundings.
 And as the alcohol sensor detects alcohol, the LED starts to blink,
the buzzer starts
 ARDUINO will stop the DC motor and the LCD displays “Alcohol
Detected”.
 Prevent accidents due to drunk driving
 Simple implementation leads to accurate results.
 Provides an automatic safety system on various types of vehicles.
 Less accidents, more safety
 Breath analysers using alcohol detection are available at high
prices.
 Breath analysers have shorter lifetime.
 Breath analysers require continuous re-calibration.
 This system can be implemented in vehicles to avoid accidents
due to drunken driving.
 It can also be used by various organizations or authorities to
monitor its employees and keep a check on them
 The Alcohol detection with engine locking system can be very
helpful for police.
 We can implement GSM technology to inform the relatives or owners of the
vehicle about the alcohol consumption.
 We can implement GPS technology to find out the location of the
vehicle.
