2. The Missile Man : Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
11th President of India Dr. Kalam, studied physics and aerospace engineering and then
became a part of D.R.D.O. and I.S.R.O. for about 40 years.
Kalam had first started work on an expandable rocket project independently at DRDO
in 1965.
He was the project director of India's first Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-III)
which deployed the Rohini satellite in near-earth orbit in July 1980.
Dr. Kalam most prominently developed Agni, an intermediate
range ballistic missile and Prithvi, the tactical surface-to-surface missile.
3. I.S.R.O. and Mylaswamy Annadurai
He is an engineer cum scientist and currently serves as Director, ISRO
Satellite Centre(ISAC), Bangalore.
Worked as Programme Director for IRS&SSS (Indian Remote Sensing &
Small, Science and Student Satellites).
This includes Chandrayaan-1, Chandrayaan-2, ASTROSAT,
Aditya-1, Mars Orbiter Mission and many Indian Remote
Sensing missions.
4. The Sixth Sense : Pranav Mistry
A Computer Science Engineer and an Inventor from Gujarat, India.
He is world renowned for Sixth Sense technology.
He also invented Wearable Computing, Augmented reality, Ubiquitous
computing, Gestural interaction, AI, Machine vision, Collective intelligence
and Robotics.
Awarded the Young Global Leader 2013 Award,
World Economic Forum.
5. Bio-Engineer Manu Prakash
Computer science engineer from IIT Kanpur who is currently working on a water droplet based
computer in Stanford University.
Known for Foldscope : "A Microscope to Save the World".
Also revered for “The Paperfuge: A 20-Cent Device That Could Transform Health Care”.
6. Engineer cum Philanthropist : A. Premji
An Indian business tycoon, investor, and philanthropist, who is the chairman of Wipro
Limited.
He is informally known as the Czar of the Indian IT Industry and also a global leader of
software industry.
With a net worth of US$16.1 billion. In 2013, he agreed to give
away at least half of his wealth by signing The Giving Pledge.
Premji started with a $2.2 billion donation to the
Azim Premji Foundation, focused on education in India.
7. An Engineer without a Degree : U. Bharali
An innovator from Assam, Bharali has about 118 innovations to his credit, starting from
the late 1980s.
Started his feat with inventing a machine for Rs 67k which priced Rs 1Lac in the
market.
Received NASA Exceptional Technology Achievement Medal
for his design of a benchtop pomegranate De-seeder.
Most of inventions are agro-based whereas others
are for household purposes.
8. Visionary beyond boundaries : Elon Musk
A South African-born Canadian American business magnate, investor,
engineer, inventor and a visionary.
His goals of Paypal, SolarCity and Tesla revolve around his vision to change
the world and humanity.
His extraordinary projects comprise a high-speed transportation
system known as the Hyperloop and the SpaceX program.
