Survey Findings
While impossible to predict with precision, the future of expertise is surely some blend of the traditional
college graduate education expertise, entrepreneurial and technology-maker expertise, business,
government, sports, art, media, political influencer expertise, and perhaps a few new types of expertise
emerging, such as AI, as well.

capabilities (cloud, open source, etc.) to speed up
innovation.
• Be open to using external tools, processes, or
technologies where it makes sense
• It uses to take weeks to set up technology beds for
startup companies. Now it takes hours with cloud
and XaaS technologies.
• Knowledge of open source (e.g. GitHub) and open
APIs to expose (or use) any capabilities to the
communities is essential.

Survey Findings While impossible to predict with precision, the future of expertise is surely some blend of the traditional college graduate education expertise, entrepreneurial and technology-maker expertise, business, government, sports, art, media, political influencer expertise, and perhaps a few new types of expertise emerging, such as AI, as well.
  • 8. Survey Findings The future of expertise includes more responsible actors and their AI/digital twins at all scales interacting in networks learning to invest systematically in becoming more T-shaped, with depth and breadth of expertise.
