Hi Don, We currently have a multi-tenanted setup as you know, with a total of around 23,000 users across 154 institutions. Although the walled garden functionality allows for trust relationships between institutions, this is not used, except in one case. Sadly this one case is between an institutions with only 1 user on one side, and 3 on the other. Over the lifetime of the installation, there has been around 56,000 wall posts and around 10,000 group members across 874 groups. Over 120,000 files have been uploaded, around 82,000 of these being images. In addition, there is approximately 50,000 views, and a growth of around 20k in the last year. The feedback, and forums are less heavily used, with around 1,000 feedbacks given, and around 4,000 forum posts. Finally, the disk space used as shown by quota used, is around 77.5GB. Please note, while the data can be used on your presentation, with reference to One Connect Limited, if you wish to publish it further you will need to contact us for permission. I hope this helps, Kimball Johnson Senior ICT Engineer One Connect Limited kimball.johnson@oneconnectlimited.co.ukwww.oneconnectlimited.co.uk
Moderation Online is a tool for teachers, principals and school administrators to enable moderation to be completed within an online space. Moderation Online is a fully electronic resource for teachers to use while moderating the judgment of a student's work with a person, group or cluster of people. This is a trial resource at present but works alongside or independently from MyPortfolio (Mahara instance). This is a great example of how student evidence is being used to inform learning and improve the consistency of teacher judgment.Kristina:Hello Don, In a nutshell in NZ, schools participate in moderation of student work. That is basically trying to align teacher judgments better and evaluate these teacher judgements. So a school doing moderation sends in a specified number of student work that a teacher has graded along with the teacher feedback. The national moderator then looks at that and gives the teacher feedback on that. That is the secondary school level. Nothing special has been developed for that moderation on MyPortfolio. We are currently trialling this way of moderation by providing templates to the teachers and some guidelines around doing moderation using MyPortfolio. Teachers who have been using MyPortfolio already with students and have student work on it, definitely benefit from being able to submit their moderation pieces electronically directly in MyPortfolio instead of burning CDs/DVDs and / or printing everything out. In primary schools the moderation takes place either within a school or between schools. As schools aren't always close, online moderation was started to facilitate the process of moderating OTJ (Overall Teacher Judgments) to achieve more consistent grading of similar student work so when a student moves from one school to the next that they wouldn't be judged completely differently. And teachers can do that online moderation via MyPortfolio. The Moderation Online mode as developed to focus functionality on what moderators would need and also to give it a different look from MyPortfolio to distinguish better between the portfolio and the moderation side of things. “However, we are in the very lucky position that the New Zealand Ministry of Education allows us to put any development work into core Mahara that suits the software.”Paul Seiler:Below is a list of the features or changes that Catalyst hope to release to the NZ school community early in Term 3.But first, a big thanks to the Ministry staff working on behalf of schools to keep this platform improving and this community alive. The enhancements are:Allowing a page to belong to more than one collection.Allowing the sharing of an individual page in a collection without sharing the whole collection.Allowing users to upload their own LEAP2A portfolios, including merging in to an existing portfolio/account.Embedding a PDF in to a page so that it is viewable without downloadingGreater flexibility of page layouts when creating a page (allowing for horizontal alignment of content in rows). An option for setting tabs as drop-downs (needed at an institution level, as it currently only works for Mahara at an instance level).Warn users when attempting to leave a page with unsaved changes.Allow users to configure number of group members shown on the group home page.More meaningful icon for inserting a text page.Drag-and-drop files form a directory on a users computer directly into files area in MyPortfolio (Moodle-like).Extending tagging to all user created content/artefacts.Full text search to improve ability to find what you are looking for.Remove "Copy of" from copied pages and collections. While the final details of what gets released might yet change this list gives a good idea or early heads up on what you can expect.Paul.
