4. Details
• Wear sports uniform and closed in shoes to school (you can
wear thongs when we are at Alma Bay)
• You will be given an excursion booklet that you’ll need to
complete by the end of the day
• I am marking your snorkelling performance throughout the day
as well as what you write in your booklet
• Don’t forget to notice your surroundings and remember that
you’ll need to adjust your risk assessment based on this
excursion – have a think about this throughout the day
5. Safety
• If you cannot follow instructions you will not be snorkelling
• Before we snorkel, I will tell you an area where you’re able to
snorkel – DO NOT go past this unless I say you can
• When we are in a group, you’ll stick with your buddy but also
follow me
• Be aware – it’s easy to get distracted and excited which is fine,
but make sure you’re checking around you and looking up from
time to time to make sure you’re still close by me and in the
right area
• I have swimming noodles that you can all use (recommended)
6. Buddy
Decide who you’d like to be your
buddy and I will write these down –
you need to make sure you are
snorkelling with this person
throughout the day and checking on
them
8. Communicating with your Buddy

water to communicate with your buddy without having to come up above the
water to talk
